  1. This sentence has to be the biggest piece of crap ever to be written on this page: "Barry Ferguson. Nowhere near as good as Scott Parker, Koumas, Michael Brown or Carrick."

Ferguson's a good player but I'd rather have Parker or Koumas. He's way better than Carrick or Michael Brown though.

  2. I'm fully prepared to wait and see what Ferguson turns out like, the problem is I'm not sure what it is he does exactly. I wouldn't say he's defensive enough to play an attacking midfielder alongside him...yet I don't think he's attacking enough to have a defensive player alongside him. Maybe someone can re-assure me as to what his role is going to be huh.gif

  3. The best news for a while:

    Darkness

What does he expect if he sings like a big girl?

Why is that good news? In fact...why is that relevant news? It's in the US, nowt to do with us.

Or was it just an excuse for tiresome anti-Darkness rubbish?

  4. He (JW) is of the opinion that there's no point in doing what (eg) West Brom did.

They came into the Premiership and refused to spend to stay there - fine.

That meant they were never likely to stay there. They may well come back up, but if they use the same philosophy they'll go straight down again. There will certainly be no more lofty ambition than survival.

But isn't that the exact same strategy that Charlton adopted? They didn't spend when they came up, went straight back down but strengthened their team and made an immeadiate return to the Premiership. They've improved year on year and are challanging for a CL spot this season.

That's probably the safest way of doing it, the alternative is the one that Birmingham took...but so did Bradford...

  5. I was very disappointed with the Jet album, I thought it would be more rockier (yes, it's a word now) than it was. At the moment I'm listening to a lot of old stuff like Pink Floyd, The Beatles and Madness. Nice mix eh?

  6. How about the very basic yet very singable -

"Swing loooooooow, Steadinhoooooooooo, running forth to score me a goal..........."

I think this is my favourite, it would sound great being belted out from the stands and would be very easy for people to pick up.

  7. I know this will be unpopular, but in the light of our dearth of left-footed players, why don't we just get Jason Wilcox back for the rest of the season.  He wouldn't cost much and DEFINITELY wouldn't be worse than the rubbish that's played there this season (Thompson, Emerton, Reid)- not that they're necessarily rubbish overall- all of them, just rubbish on the left!

Because he's far better than Stewart Downing, eh Jan?  :withstupid:

The only ones I'd take from Leeds are Kilgallon, Seth Johnson, Milner, Bridges or Smith...the rest are either no good, too old or injury prone.

    What about Viduka and Robinson

True...we don't really need a keeper though and I wouldn't trust Viduka not to sulk, not to mention his wages.

  9. The greed of footballers knows no bounds.

The Leeds players tonight told the board that they would rather the club sold one of the players rather than them all having to take a 30 per cent pay cut.

I don't really blame the players for not taking a pay cut.  This isn't a Leicester-type situation where the players are responsible for the clubs financial problems due to bad performances getting them relegated.

The Leeds board (or ex-board) are entirely to blame for the mess the club are in.  They've even got 6 or 7 foreign loan players in the reserves who haven't figured since Eddie Gray took charge (Roque Junior, Camara, Olembe, Chapuis, Camara, Sakho), god knows how much they're costing per week.

  10. Matthew Kilgallon...he'd be a more than adequate replacement for Tiny if he goes to Birmingham (not sure if he would cover the right and left back positions though  :<img src=:'> )

I'd also take Milner and Seth Johnson, I thought Matteo too but it seems he has a constant problem with injuries.  If Bridges is over his injury problems he'd be a better player to have than Yorke as well.

  11. I don't believe there is a rule on deduction of points if a Prem club goes into administration but there would be a requirement for the other clubs to decide on expulsion. In the dod-eats-dog world of the Prem, is it realistic for clubs not yet mathematically safe not to vote Leeds out?

    You are right.

Radio Five tonight reported that a nine point deduction for Premiership teams going into receivership would come into effect next season.

NOT affecting Leeds IF they go into admin this year as no rule yet applies.

If that's right then Leeds should go into administration straight away and get the advantage whilst it's still available (just like Leicester last season).

I don't want to see Leeds go out of business, they deserve all the problems they're having now for over-spending but it would be a shame to see such a big club go from the league completely.

  12. From what I've heard and read, Leeds are trying to get the players to agree to pay cuts in the same way that Leicester did with their players.

I don't think they'll just stop paying wages without the players consent, however if they did I think you are right in saying they would become free agents...but only after a certain amount of time (a month, I think).

  13. My problem with him at the moment is that it appears as though he assumes that there is going to be a constant stream of money available to him, what other reason could there be for buying so many players approaching the end of their careers?

Let's face it, the only players we've made good money on since he arrived have been Dunn and Duff, and he wasn't responsible for bringing them here.  It says something that the the best hope we have of selling someone of value is Tiny.

  14. This should be brought up again after Bolton. Big fat Sam has a team that fights and battles all the time and never gives up. We have a bunch of shrinking violets who wilt under the slightest bit of pressure.

Not only that, he finds a space for creative players like Okocha and Djorkaeff.

Souness seems to think that the only way to get a solid team is to play work-horses and remove those who play the more individual type game.

  15. Anyone else like the Libertines?

What a Waster, Time for Heroes and Don't look back into the sun are three of my favourite singles of recent years.

The Libertines are great, but you have to wonder how long the band will go on with no Pete Doherty, I think he's made his own band (also called The Libertines?) so there's going to be some confusion.

Hopefully they'll kiss and make up (not literally, although from what I've heard highly possible) because they make some great music.

  16. Toshack what a dick, has anyone heard him lately, he predicted at the start of the season Beckham would fail in Spain, and now Beckham has been brilliant he won't admit he's wrong, "oh i saw a game they lost and Beckham was playing", Madrid are top of the league idiot, Beckham is one of top 5 players with asssists.

And then he goes on to say "i wouldn't have sign Beckham if i was incharge", that because no manger signs the players at Madrid, no wonder he got sacked from Madrid.

    ???

He was wrong about Beckham...so he must be a dick?  By that theory, Souey must be a giant walking penis for signing Grabbi.

  17. If Souness goes I would like to see the managers job not go to Toshack or Venables or Sturrock or even a Hart as he seems to be the flavour of the month but to somebody who has a true love of the club and is respected by players.

Henning Berg, Mark Hughes would be good to continue because when all said and done all the other managers in the league are just on a money merrygo round apart from O'Neill, Ferguson and Wenger who will never come to Ewood.

Having emotional ties to a club does absolutely nothing to improve how well a manager does at a club, it may make the fans like him more but that's it.  There are countless examples of clubs who get these 'popular' old boys back to rescue a club, precious little of them work.

  18. If Souey doesn't get us sorted and does go, I wouldn't mind John Toshack as a replacement.  He's got a good reputation in Europe after managing Real Madrid amongst other good teams, but the thing that I like about him is that he talks a lot of sense and seems to have a very realistic view of the game (Hoddle take note).

If it came down to finding someone to save us from relegation, I'd rather have an experienced coach like him rather than an un-tried Paul Hart or someone similar.
