  1. Rich Eisen an NFL commentator has a feature called ''Overreaction Monday'' where they discuss the weekends actions and you hear bold claims, both ways positive and negative. The comments from some fans I feel are born out of the frustratingly poor performance against our local rivals (who also happen to be the best team in the league at this moment in time).

JDT out? JDT written warning? JDT on a par with Mowbray?

3rd in the league, a point off second, five clear of seventh. Youngsters blooded, contracts signed (albeit not by BBD, but thats not going to happen without promotion), six wins in a row at Ewood, more points than at this stage last season.

Lets try and keep some prespective. Yesterday was very disappointing and lessons MUST be learned, but its been a very good start to the 2022/23 campaign. Nearly halfway through the season, we've given ourselves a real shot at a playoff spot, maybe even more.

Take the banter/stick today, lets move on. Trust the process.

  2. This is delightful.

Bolton Wanderers shirt celebrating 100 years since their first FA Cup victory. The 1923 FA Cup Final, or as its more commonly known, The White Horse Final.

Having Macron as our supplier in our 150th Anniversary season will hopefully yield a similar anniversary shirt/kit.

  3. Whilst I don't want to lose either Brereton Diaz or Phillips both have been linked with moves away all summer. In some respects this is what we've been hoping wouldn't happen, but predictably it looks like it will.

What encourages me more than those two players however is the club at large. In Broughton/Tomasson and the new head of recruitment Williams, we have a structure in place and the beginning of what (JDT famously calls 'project') looks like an exciting chapter.

Brentford and Brighton being the two clubs everyone (outside of the top 4) is trying to model themselves on. Both have lost massive players in Eriksen, Cucurella, Bissouma etc. Yet both have an identity of the club, over the players.

Rovers should be looking to reach this level, players will always come and go. The structure, the youth progression, the overall plan is whats most important.

I do believe Tomasson/Broughton/Williams are our strongest assets at the moment.

Yes more time enjoying the rise of Ashley Phillips would have been nice, but good luck to the lad if he goes.

  4. I dont see a reason to change the team that started on Saturday, so wouldn't do so myself.

If pressed, maybe Dolan for Vale, but don't mind Dolan off the bench. Szmodics, Dack, Morton all perhaps see the match at some stage?

I am intrigued to see how we'll setup away from home against a team that has a lot of the ball. Probably more swift counter attacks and breakaways.

The first goal is so big in the Championship, do we have the ability to come from behind playing the style of football we're endeavouring to do? The COVID season of 20/21 was blighted by this, so many 0-1 losses against teams who scored first and then sat deep with 10 men behind the ball. We didn't have the nous to unlock defences then, has it changed now? Only time will tell.

I think you could be a bind here. I don't think the tickets are transferable so sharing of a season ticket is in essence in breach of the T's & C's so I don't think you'll be able to bump the ticket up to a full price one and pay the difference.

    Just reading the T&C now.

It says you're allowed to share with a member of the family. I'll ring the ticket office for clarification.

  6. Question that I'm sure I know the answer to, but just to double check.

My dad now has a Senior season ticket, but often misses the first few games with being away on holiday.

Usually I have a mate that uses the spare ticket, with it being two adults theres never been the need to do anything. But now I assume he'll need to upgrade the ticket from a senior to an adult.

Does he just get charged the difference?

E.g. This weekend's game is £25 for adults and £20 for seniors.

Therefore he'd have to pay the £5 difference at the ticket office before hand?

  7. 1. Where will Rovers finish ? 11th

    2. Who will be the Rovers (official) Player Of The Season ? John Buckley

    3. Who do you think will be the breakout/breakthrough academy player this season ? (Let’s say under 23 at season start & fewer than 10 1st team appearances to be eligible) Sam Barnes

    4. Who will win the Championship ? Norwich City

    5. Where will Burnley finish ? 4th

  8. Players running down their contracts to give themselves bigger signing on bonuses and allowing them to dictate their own future is becoming the norm across almost every major sport.

NFL, NBA, MLB, Premier League its the modern way and I'd expect its here to stay.

Personally I think BBD is at the peak of his value to Rovers this summer and thus I'd cash in on the asset, particularly if those funds can be channeled back into the squad and or for more youth signings (ala Markanday).

As mentioned, loss of form, injury, the complications of all the travel to and from Chile every international break and the fact hes played Copa America, a full Championship season, World Cup qualifiers and now on the eve of another season, I do feel a BBD burnout is coming.

Lets also not forget he only scored 2 goals after New Years Day.

  9. Will be interesting to see where he turns up.

He's a limited ability Championship right back, good attributes with power and pace, but no end product on any crosses.

Provides very few assists/goals (7 assists, 0 goals) over his entire Rovers career. I know he's not a striker, so to judge him on goals is hardly completely fair, but in his time at the Rovers, regular full backs (albeit all with much fewer appearances than Nyambe).

    Derrick Williams - 8 assists, 6 goals

    Amari'i Bell - 1 assist, 3 goals

    Harry Pickering - 2 assists, 2 goals

Maybe Mowbray didn't get the best out of him? thats a fair question.

But I'd be (pleasantly) surprised to see Nyambe is go on to be a top end Championship right back for the rest of his career.

  10. The unique break with the World Cup has thrown up a cracking final and return fixtures in Burnley away and Preston home.

Tough looking Easter period with Norwich (h) and Huddersfield (a) Good Friday and Easter Monday.

Blackpool (a) during the summer holidays (31st August) will make it an even more popular away day.

Sunderland on Boxing Day for the first time since 2008, when Jason Roberts missed a glorious chance to steal all three points.

In the corresponding fixtures last year (against the opening eight teams)

QPR (h) won, Swansea (a) lost, WBA (h) lost, Reading (a) lost, Sheff Utd (a) lost, Stoke (h) lost, Blackpool (a) lost, Bristol City (h) lost.

  11. Tomasson still not confirmed, so we move onto page 369! The 400 target is now looking unlikely, but 375 in play?

For those playing along at home, naturally.

My feelings are a mixture of excitement and trepidation, not unlike almost every manager we've appointed since Souness if I'm being honest. Hughes, Allardyce and Mowbray at the better end of the scale, to Coyle and Kean at the bottom.

Interestingly, JDT will become only Rovers' second foreign manager, and first without any historic links to the club.

Danish managers in the Championship over the last ten years are rare.

Leeds' Thomas Christiansen 2017/18 season who was sacked with Leeds in 10th place and a winning percentage of 42.9%

    and

Brentford's Thomas Frank in 2018/19 season, who started as assistant, before taking over from Dean Smith and leading the Bees to promotion a couple of seasons later.

    Danish links with Rovers

    Preben Arentoft (1971-74)

    Per Frandsen (1999-2000)

    John Jenson - Assistant Manager - (2011)

    Lars Jacobsen (2009-10)

    Per Pedersen (1997-98)
