Unsure if this is tongue in cheek but experience and still being at an age and ability to contribute are not mutually exclusive.

    Of course it is!

I have zero problem with the transfer and not sure why people would. He's exactly what we've been crying out for all season in regards to leadership and experience.

McFadzean played all 120 minutes of the playoff final last season, has over 600 senior games under his belt and this is effectively a loan signing til May. Of course he's not the long term answer, but our defence looks better with him in it than not. I prefer him to Phillips and Cooper.

Imagine speaking to Jack Walker now…

Well Jack, we’ve got a young lad come through the academy you built. He’s only 19, Blackburn born and bred, his brother plays here too. Genuinely a world class prospect, levels above what David Dunn ever was. No doubt he will go on to play for England sooner rather than later!

I agree with the overall sentiment Duncan, but is Adam ''levels above'' what David Dunn ever was? Probably for another thread 👀😂 but Dunny did make his debut in the Premier League at 19, was England u21 captain at 20 and almost exclusively spent a career in the top flight.

Adam has huge potential and may go further than Dunny did, but he's still got to go and do it. At this stage they're decent comparisons, though its probably easy to forget how good Dunn was in the Championship and Premier League throughout his career.

  3. As said by a few on here, the money if reinvested would be crucial, however you do feel as though recent monies from sales has gone to the greater overall debt/FFP stuff.

£20m plus add ons will do for me.

Lets not forget that potential is so often unmet with younger players, injuries, off field distractions etc are all very real.

The club survived and thrived in the late 00s by selling at the right time, Santa Cruz, Bentley, Warnock etc

  4. Am I being thick or can you not buy tickets on the Rovers website?

It says wrong card details, I've tried three different ones and it wont let me get beyond that screen with an error!

Please check that your card type is one that we accept and that you have entered the number correctly.

  5. Morsy and Travis must be one of the most ''Shithousery'' midfield combinations of all time.

Will be plenty get wound up playing against Ipswich in the second half of the season.

Good move for Trav, obviously not a JDT man, maybe he comes back next season when Tomasson has left for pastures new (as we all assume).

  6. Fan Takeover Eve Eve

Getting that mixture of excitement and anticipation now, looking forward to a fuller Ewood and hopefully some renewed credit with the powers that be at the club.

Lots of hard work going on behind the scenes in several areas......keeping everything crossed it all goes to plan on Saturday.

Any guesses on crowd levels? 18k would be fabulous as Mike Graham said. Dare we dream for 20k?

I spoke too soon. When I mentioned it to Mrs Shoelaces she said “ we’ve got tickets to see “ Hamilton “ in Manchester on the 27th, they cost £100 each !  “

Bloody hell, so it looks like I’ll be missing out.

Oops, I thought for some reason  it was on the 27th, now I see it’s the 23rd so we’ll be there after all ! Hurray !

    Talk less, smile more.

Hamilton, what a show, seeing it in February, saw it on Broadway earlier this year with a rather enthusiastic (drunk) Chicagoan woman next to me, too many Hamiltini's!

As for the match, I can't wait to see more people on the ground and meet some more forum members. Plenty still going on behind the scenes also, so plenty to be excited about.

  8. Have come across some fans who run him close, but Birdy’s dedication was unique.

Spoke with him on several occasions, most recently at the Girona pre season friendly, though he (and his wife Annette) did make me feel guilty every time I’d decided to watch a mid week away match from home, rather than taking a day off work to go to Ipswich or Sunderland or latterly Millwall!

Characters like him are what small town, provincial clubs like Rovers are built on.

I can only imagine how proud he must have been to see the club scale the highest of heights and win the Premier League along with European adventures and domestic cup glory!

    Rest in peace Birdy

  9. JDT now the 6th longest serving manager in The Championship!

    1. Mark Robins, Coventry City (since 6/3/17)

    2. Nigel Pearson, Bristol City (since 22/2/21)

=3. Ryan Lowe, Preston North End (since 7/12/21)

Steven Schumacher, Plymouth Argyle (since 7/12/21)

    5. Kieran McKenna, Ipswich Town (since 16/12/21)

    6. Jon Dahl Tomasson, Blackburn Rovers (since 14/6/22)

  10. Just gave everyone on the POTM centre a 6/10, felt like it was going to be one of those 0-0 sort of games, but Coventry nicking it at the death was hard to take.

Now the dust has settled I remain convinced that we'll be fine and the results will turn.

Poor officiating on the Moran goal, rattling the crossbar and it deflecting out for a corner, Sigurdssons poor decision making at 0-0 with the shot....the key moments that went against us.

Still feel as though it'll all click and we'll be back on track. Hopefully at Loftus Road on Saturday.

  11. 1. Who will win this year’s Championship ?

    Leicester City

    2. Who will claim runners-up spot ?

    Southampton

    3. Who will finish rock bottom in the Championship ?

    Sheffield Wednesday

    4. Where will Rovers finish this season in the league ?

    11th

    5. How many league goals will Rovers score this season ?

    56

    6. Who will win the BRFCS POTY ?

    Adam Wharton

  12. With such a traditional home shirt design that has little or no room for design elements I don't mind the odd bold choice when it comes to an away/3rd shirt.

This shirt fits that brief wonderfully. I imagine it'll be popular with the kids and if we have a famous win/cup run etc in the shirt it'll find is place in Rovers folklore.

Would be the shirt I'd be most tempted to buy out of this years releases so far.

  13. Some great opinions so far!

Another one of mine would be to actually make supporters able to purchase food/drinks without either missing 5/10 minutes of the first or second half!

The amount of money I save, easily £50-£100 per season, when I look at the massive slow moving queue to buy a coffee or food! And just don't bother.

Unless you're in the queue as the first half whistle blows you're definitely missing the start of the second half!

I'd have dedicated beer/cider kiosks where people bought pints/bottles with a turnaround time of no more than 15/20 seconds per customer. Its completely cashless these days anyway, so the card reader should take the most time.

I'd move Silvester and Waggott out immediately and look to bring in quality replacements capable of moving us forward.

Anybody, who was brought into the club when the agency was around and offering its 'advice', would be shown the door. No questions asked. Out.

I'd make sure a particular weasel of an agent wouldn't be able to set foot inside Ewood again and that the club would have no more dealings with him going forward.

There would be an overhaul of the marketing and commercial departments, with experienced operators who have the nous, drive and knowledge to market the club, in the way it should be marketed, brought in.

The biggest task would be to shift the "woe is us", small time, mediocrity embracing mentality that has infected the club. This shift would be the main aim from day one.

I'd make it clear to all at the club that languishing in the Championship is unacceptable for this Football Club and that standards need to be raised back to what they were before Venky's.

This club didn't spend nigh on 20 years as a Premier League fixture and achieve what it did, for third rate chancers to now try and suggest that we are lucky to be at this level and that we should be grateful to the tossers who have reduced us to this state.

Anybody at the club who believes that Rovers are overachieving in the Championship, punching above our weight, or that it's difficult to compete would be shown the door. That sort of rhetoric filters through to everybody and provides players and fans with an excuse to gloss over failure and to actually paint it as a positive. Gallant failure is what it promotes and celebrates.

It's a results business and if poor results have us far away from our aim of promotion, the manager would be on very thin ice. He'd be gone, in all honesty.

I'd have season tickets reduced by at least £100 on the current prices. Actually, I'd have the Riverside as the entry level stand with season tickets priced at £250, with the most expensive being in the Jack Walker Upper Central, at around £350/60.

The club shop leaves a lot to be desired, so I'd set about the process of trying to get a good range of merchandise in store. There are so many things we could sell, but don't. So many opportunities missed. Having enough kit in stock is obviously vital and this would be a priority.

How embarrassing is it that we have had fans eagerly wanting to buy the kit, then turning up to the store to find the kit's sold out and nothing more can be done?

We need fans to want to spend money in the store and stock/items that are worth buying. I don't think the latter is entirely the case right now.

I'd also remove the TV gantry from the Riverside and go back to having it in the Jack Walker Stand. TV cameras facing the Riverside, just like old times. I have never liked the cameras facing the JW.

Gerald would be receiving a call from me to see if he could be tempted to come back to Rovers. His voice always takes me back to the good times at the club. I would love to see him back in a role at Ewood, just not under these owners though.

Finally, I would invite the likes of Emerton, Nelsen, Salgado, and Pedersen to a game where we could thank them for their efforts, either at half time or full time. We never got a chance to say a proper goodbye to those players, I feel.

Morten said a goodbye, of sorts, in front of the Blackburn End in 2012, but the backdrop to this was chaos at the club, 10,000 fans gone and general dismay in the stands at what was happening on and off the pitch.

Oh, and I'd look to do something for Shearer, a legend of the club. If Mowbray can get a huge flag (the mind boggles), then Shearer definitely deserves one. If flags aren't possible for whatever reason, I'd have some sort of display of Shearer, Duffer, Tugay, Brad and more going up around the outside of the stadium to showcase our history and to remind people of the standards.

No matter what bastards like Swag and Co want the world to believe, this is not a small club lucky to be in the Championship.

    Venky's out.

    Amen!

  16. Sunderland falling to the fate I imagined we'd have in mid April. A tight close contest at home with either a narrow win or a draw, only to be out muscled and overawed at Kenilworth Road and comfortably beaten.

The playoffs are so brutal on any teams that 'sneak in' not since Blackpool in 2010 has a side finishing sixth been promoted to the Premier League, even then the difference between 6th and 3rd (Nottingham Forest) was 9 points as opposed to this years gap of 11 points.
