  1. I am of the belief that this will really be an up and down season...our manager will have to do the best he can with the group of players he has until the window opens and only then can he strengthen...will he have cash to spend? who knows...perhaps he will have to sell to buy...lets hope its not one of our best players if that is the case. So I would not be surprised to see the pack being shuffled now and again as our manager needs to find a system and team that suits what we have just now...I wa pleased to see Jansen immediatly being given another go and hope he does again, i was equally surprised to see him missing from the following weeks starting sheet, but i guess as i said this is something which will happen as everyone will get a chance to impress the new boss...only next season can we begin to truly judge our new manager...as to who is the best appointment for a managers position i believe choosing a manager is like buying a pair of socks....sometimes they look excellent in the shop but when you get them home you find they are not as comfy or far more comfy than you first thought...you have to give them time to mould to your feet and given time you can only tell whether they will last you the distance or whether they were not such a good investment or not... you could buy the best pair of socks in the most expensive store in britain but they might turn out not to be as comfortable as the shop down the road and more suited to your style... I think we have the fighting spirit and the quality to stay up and hopefully next season when we our new manager has had time to get to know which is the best style and players to play we hopefully will be in a more comfortable position next season at this time.... I am still hoping we will win the FA cup!!!
  2. if indeed we are in for a young and up and coming manager then surely this must mean either Dowie,Hughes or Levein......all of them are excellent managers....whom i would prefer i am not sure.....perhaps....levein but certainly i would be delighted by hughes or dowie also....it would be nice to have fresh ideas and fresh enthusiasm, it really could help confidence soar throughout our side and help us rise in the league...if indeed it is one of these three whom would everyone else choose if it were there choice?????
  3. strachan or hughes would be brilliant moves, newell also i think would be a good appointment
  4. very sad today after hearing Souness has left Rovers, I think he has done an excellent job with our excellent team, and I just hope whoever takes over the reigns can keep us up this season and begin to imprint their own style on the team and hopefully have us pushing for Europe the following season. Anyways good luck to him and hopefully our next manager will push us further forward now to more success.
  5. I think Duffer is correct in his judgement on Dickov, I saw him mainly as a buy who would be making most of his appearances from the Bench and would tirelesly run down defenders for the last twenty minutes of the game, the first line of defence is in the opponents half, anyways i have to admit from what i have seen on his full match display he looks very comfortable leading the line with Stead for the full ninety...what are other peoples thoughts on this? is Dickov a better sub or starter, and the what was the role we bought Bothroyd for as in is he seen as a starter or is he destined to be the sub?
  6. I wish Bothroyd all the best in this seasons campaign in the premiership, hopefully he will be a tremendous buy for the club, and I think he deserves his chance to show us what he can do before we all judge him. Not every striker can be judged by how many goals they score, all round ability must come into consideration, for example if he holds the ball up, ghosts past a dozen players every match and sets up an abundance of goals for our fellow striker and attacking midfield then that is just as good. I hope that MGP and Ferguson will score a hatful of goals this season from midfield taking us shooting up the table.I am curious though as to what our best pairing up front will be though, for me i would always start stead, he is a very impressive striker i think and he hopefully will score some very important goals for us this season...
  7. What a fantastic buy he would be,exciting attacking ability,my question is though where will he play? it is suggested by some things i have seen written on these message boards that he is primarily a left sided midfielder but as has already been stated de pedro was bought with probably that role in mind, I did read somewhere he could play right side as well or up front, if indeed he is that quick and can score goals alongside stread up front could prove very good move as well. Is there any more news on the corridon possible transfer? He would be the perfect partner for fergie in the middle in my mind as he is an attacking midfielder or so i have read and that would allow Fergie more time to pull the strings from midfield and and even a more holding midfield role.I would imagine a real flutter of transfers today with the transfer window shutting so soon...I for one am very excited about the season ahead and am hoping for a good league position(perhaps europe) and a good couple of cup runs
  8. Perhaps Mr Dickov was not quite the name I was expecting as the striker we would capture this summer but indeed since his proposed signing was rumoured I have been reading posts on here and considering the interesting comments made by fellow fans of rovers, I have come to believe he will be a good signing, whether he will start many games or not or indeed be first choice sub or be the regular starter week in week out remains to be seen, but I agree he offers a new dimension to our attack, a hunger to chase at anything and by doing so may allow more chances for the midfield to follow through and add a few goals to their tallys this yr, and it is well known the first line of defence starts in the opposition penalty area even if that means pressurising the goalkeeper on a pass back,19 times out of 20 this will result in nothing but that other once might end up in a fifty fifty reound following at our king strike machine Stead to calmly slot home.Indeed it will take a bit of the burden off stead to have someone this feisty up there along with him.Perhaps he is even seen as a star substitute star who will come on 15 mins to go and chase everything that could prove to be a very shrewd move with Dickovs speed....allowing that the price I have seen mentioned on this board is correct it should allow us to chase other targets without too much dent in our budget,Pederson and Van Buyten would be a joy to see in a blue and white shirt next yr and well probably not likely but there is always a possibility of Butt coming i suppose if he decides to leave man utd as im sure a whole host of clubs would like his services in their teams but anyways i would see that as a very succesful summer at the shops....
