  1. Have you seen the goal of the season "contenders" over the last couple of seasons? Great they ain't.

I agree with he sentiment though we need to get some kind of feelgood around the current Rovers because showing us the recent history adds to the misery at the current situation and what was thrown away.

In all honesty though, I think that a change of manager to someone with charisma and:or pedigree, as well as ability, is what is required. I don't see how Bowyer is going to become that person. Failing that we need a spark on the pitch that can pick up a game by the scruff of it's neck and get the crowd on their feet. Dunny used to be that player, Marshall has the potential to be, but our manager thinks he's better served at right back.

On the goal thing, Lowe vs Boro, Conway vs Rotherham, Marshall vs Reading Cairney vs Norwich are certainly great goals. Then there was Rhodes' clever chip over the keeper last season and his goal where AdamRochina typo'd 'takes Poseidon from the edge of the biscuit' :P

There will be moments to show that are better than the current montage of average tackles :P

  2. Personally, I'd scrap Rovers Radio and TV aside from an hour either side of the games. Don't bother with music, just chat with a relevant guest (maybe do guest commentary).

We need to start showing more recent great goals than just constantly having the good times rubbed in our faces imo. Try and get some positive feeling about those playing for us NOW.

  3. Have you heard this bloody commentator?

Anyone would think we are a non league outfit up against the boys of la masia.

Tbf, we're a team of mostly U18's vs a team that has a fair bit first team PL experience.

Surely Mahoney has got to be worth a punt in the first team? He looks the part.

I think we'll be seeing more of Mahoney and O'Sullivan next season. Possibly even Nyambe towards the end, who has impressed me today. That number 14 is doing very well for a 16yo too.

  4. Finally got around to watching Breaking Bad. I marathoned the whole series on Netflix in two weeks. Wish I would wipe my memory and watch it all again.

I struggled with that and gave up after 4 episodes. I think everyone hyping it actually made retrospective viewing crap.

It's no GoT anyway. And I'm someone who watched House religiously.

  5. Some people can't wait to have a go can they? Probably one of the best and biggest games these lads have had! Let them enjoy it and hopefully they win! Get that winning mentality in their heads and get them driving on into the 1st team.

Love how they're being written off when quite a few of them can't even legally drink yet and are competing against squads up to 5 years older than them on a regular basis.

    But still, they've achieved jackshit.......

  6. Snap. Think the writer of Happy Valley must have watched the film version of Fargo - too many similarities to be a coincidence.

Agreed but not complaining! The last episode's cliffhanger left me shouting at the telly!

  7. If you can play during the week the worlds your oyster. Darwen's a tough track and physically demanding but Dunscar's OK and only just over th'ill. We used to ring em up on occasional weekdays and ask cheekily if they did '2 for 1's. They didn't but said if we went they'd match it. Most clubs will 'deal' these days since Sky Sports screwed golf in this country over. New ones like Mitton Fold and Oak Royal are on the look out for new memebers all the tim.

As far as 'pay and play' municipals there's Townley, Duxbury Park and Marsden Park

I've been convinced to go back to Darwen as a member next year :) But until then, I'll be making weekly or so trips to Samlesbury Driving Range (also has a par 3 9-holer) and probably monthly trips to different courses in the area. I live just shy of Bull Hill so no course is out of reach :)

You a member at Darwen, Drog? Just cos it's the first one you mentioned. I might even know you already :P

  8. Played 45 holes over this weekend at Formby Hall and it's really whetted my appetite for the great sport once again. Especially with it being a Ryder Cup year :D Can't afford a membership without giving up my SeasonTicket, but I could afford to play properly once or twice a month if the Green Fees are reasonable.

Anyone know of any local gem courses?

    Any other golf chat wanted?
