  1. Glenn- Can I have Jan, back- PLEASE???? Liked Catwoman! (whatever password I tried I couldn't get in- so just contented myself to reading till this season!!)
  2. And again the misconception lives!!!
  3. Sorry- Just get awfully fed up of the misconception!!! I was a Rovers fan a long time before Souness came to Rovers and I'll be here again once he's gone (pray god it's soon). I wasn't on here for a while because I was working all the hours there were to ensure I got promotion (which I found out about in June- re-registered for the new season) Also lost my original posting details so had to re-register!
  4. Not Walter Smith, cos he's rubbish, but on another thread I already said I wouldn't object to Alec McLeish. My dislike of Souness doesn't stem from Rangers, it's from his attitude when he played from Scotland many years ago. I have said this repeatedly. Sorry if you lot are too dim to pick up on it.
  5. I have a friend who supports Luton. He's VERY impressed with Newell on all levels, and there are NO rumours about his private life
  6. A FEW players? Try ALL of them. When it was just one or two, you all buried your heads in the sand and forgave him. It's not, and NO WAY should he be allowed the chance to alienate the little talent we have left
  7. Nope, I can't That was then, this is now.
  8. Thanks TARA! Don't let the door hit you on your way out
  9. Not a bad idea, except of course he would probably take it and still stay on- such is the character of the man
  10. I don't want us to sack him- why should that t***er get another big payoff from us (he's been paid all season to do nothing) A friend of mine (not me-honest but I almost danced with glee when she said it) suggested that all the rovers fans there today (about 23,000) should donate £1 each. She was sure we'd find a decent hit-man for that money. I laughed- for only the second time today (the first was at the sheer ineptitude of our first goal) I don't honestly think he's either honest or decent enough to resign. Oh, and KSB is absolutely right- he is not and never was fit to lace Kenny's boots.
  11. Right, now I've calmed down a bit I'll try to get perspective back. I don't want the club to go down, but I honestly fear for the future if we keep Souness. We don't have assets to sell any more(except perhaps Ferguson if anyone wants him and he comes back ok), our players are less fit than your average dodo (they lumbered compared to Liverpool yesterday, and our manager has no idea of what his best team are). You may use the "injury" excuse- but he SHOULD by now have figured out a "best of the rest"- he hasn't and we get tinker after tinker each week. Does it make me happy to be right? Not for the club (I'd deny anyone personally to be happy about being wrong)- we have the eighth highest wage bill in the Premiership and we're languishing. I feel sorry for John Williams too, as he doesn't seem to much like his manager, but has stuck by him throughout bad times and worse times this season, and has tried to maintain a sound financial footing doing it. This would- and make no bones about it- be destroyed by relegation. I'm not a supporter of player power. I was totally against Sherwood for what he did to Hodgson. I cannot be unbiased enough to be sure that this is not the same, although in Hodgson's case it was mainly down to one player- this time it seems to be quite widespread- again impression only. This season has reminded me SO much of 1999 it's scary, except then Jack Walker was there to see it. Poignantly the fans yesterday started to sing "there's only one Jack Walker" to motivate the players. Unfortunately there was not a player on the pitch who remembers Jack Walker or was influenced personally by him. He's only been dead three years. Where are the good 21/2 year olds who were around the club at that time??? The overwhelming feeling this season is sadness. We'll all disagree about the Dunn/Duff/Berg situation till............well...........forever, but I doubt anyone would argue that if we'd done the limited purchasing we were going to do (Gresko) and kept those three, we'd be in a better position than we are now. Greed/stupidity has played its part in our downfall. We'll be here to witness whatever happens next season, the rubber dinghy men won't.
  12. I'm torn. If we were in a sound financial position, I'd see us go down to get rid of him and get someone else in. We're not, so I'm crossing fingers and toes and turning up to every game in the hope we win. I've hated him forever, but tolerated him as our manager until his behaviour with Dunn- I even supported him initially with that. I knew he'd lost it when Dunny came back from his injury and was obviously putting the effort in, but Souness (and consequently most of the Souness-lovers on here who were SO jealous of a local boy doing well and "getting above himself") didn't recognise it and kept bleating on. I knew then he was gone in the eyes of the players (who'd want to work under a manager who takes such violent dislikes and cannot change his mind when he's obviously in the wrong), and I think that's been proven since. He should have been physically gone then too, but people were still blinded by his luck in previous seasons, so chose Souness over morale. The state of our club is VERY sad.
  13. All those calling for Gresko and Gray- I'm sorry-If you want that, you'll need a new manager first. Souness doesn't have the wit, tactical acumen or foresight to actually play people who would balance the side- he hasn't all season so why would he try now? Let's get behind the team, but get rid of the dead wood manager first. And by the way- I'd rather have Mickey Adams (fed up with Leicester) Mark Hughes (might have some fondness for the club) or Mike Newell (Ditto) than That *******. This is one time I REALLY wish I could swear on here. He deserves it.
  14. Sacking's too good for him after this "performance". He should be gutted- literally. Anyone who thinks he has the slightest chance of getting it right against Leeds or Leicester is living on cloud cuckoo land- he's picked dross teams all season and changed them at the drop of a hat so they haven't had the chance to GEL- injuries causing all the changes, my behind! My view is that none of the players want to play for him (why would they? He's an obnoxious arrogant git and those are his best characteristics) so he should go. You all thought he was more important to the club than Dunn and Duff (Jim and Rover6 may be the honourable exceptions). How does it feel to be SO wrong?
  15. He never had any man-management skills, and the Jury has always been out on his transfer skills
  16. Nah- no need to be shocked I've said since Christmas we can't afford to sack him as that wouldn't be good for the club's morale (ANOTHER sacking in not too many years), although if he resigned/got kidnapped by aliens etc I'd rejoice- and we'd get a) the honeymoon boost and a "lets do it for the gaffer" boost- well that's the theory
  17. Clive Agree Although if he's willing to stand down, bite his hand off (we need the "honeymoon period" boost VERY badly)
  18. Roy, I was agreeing with you RIGHT until the last paragraph. I for one never want another season like this. Have we seen any improvement or a steady erosion of everything to do with the club? Why should it change next season if he stays? The only bright spot for me is that none of the clubs which look like they're going to be promoted (with the possible exception of Wigan) have the money to buy to stay up - just as hopefully this season 2 at least of last seasons promotees will go back down (and Leeds.) I'd just say "So long and thanks for all the fish, Graeme" and get someone else in- don't lets do the pathetic "who then?" again. At the moment, anyone with a modicum of sense would do.
  19. Gav what on EARTH do we have to be positive about? Give it a few months and we'll be in the same position as we were in when Kidd left. Our performances are already as bad.
  20. About Steven Reid- I think people have a right to judge from what they've seen. He's another "one for the future" who'll end up being quietly shunted out of the club (a la Greer and Peltzer) when the future becomes the past.
  21. Tris I was asked what STARTED my animosity to Souness. The balance is still very heavily weighted against him in the things he's done since. The balance is getting better- or was till this season, but he'd need to be beatified at least to get to even in my book.
  22. Philipl My dislike of Souness stems back to watching him sauntering around the field with no fight, or evidence of caring AT ALL for Scotland when he played for us in the 70s- I think it was,(playing much the same way his team's playing now) contrasted with the effort he put in for Liverpool.
  23. There it is It wasn't To an earlier point- So we're developing nicely, playing well, the players are happy and there's no cause to worry. I see. The fact that we went out of all the cups- pathetically- at the first attempt and are showing like a bunch of pub footballers in the league while having the 8th highest wage bill in the league is great, is is? John Williams said to us at a meeting that broadly, he'd expect that the club's position in the league should be within 2 either side of the position in the table of wages paid. Any higher is overachieving, any lower is failure. Even at this time in the season, 16th when we're paying 8th is failure. I think the injuries we've got are being used to fuzz a fundamental problem, which was evident at the start of the season, when everyone bar Shorty was fit- the replacement players aren't good enough and organisationally we're hopeless. This is a combination of selling our best players- for whatever reason- buying mostly inferior replacement players, constantly changing the team (even when they were all fit), playing players out of position and, potentially, changing the coaching structure.
  24. Last post says it's by Radaghast, but I can't see it I'm sure it would be amusing whatever!
  25. Who knows who the solution could be come summer. Personally I wouldn't mind: Mark Hughes Mickey Adams Gary Megson to name but 3. All of whom are used to making the best of meagre resources AND doing it without seeming to have person after person slagging them off in the press.
