Just another thing to flag up at the moment, how much our attraction to loanees must have gone down the pan.

We've had some brilliant players last few seasons, lots of game time, making us an attractive proposition.

This season however, wtf is going on seriously.

I think Chrisene is better than Pickering and Ayari offers promise too. The lad from Liverpool went from looking like a mad man to quality vs Newcastle in the space of 10 mins. Not a single one of these have benefited from their loan, ditto Moran. We're easily bottom of any lists for loans now too, especially when you factor in we're either a league 1 team or relegation plodders in the championship next season

That's why it's called development. I think Moran will assess his time here with Brighton and probably go out on another Championship loan next season. Ayari as well, but might go overseas. Branthwaite wasn't any good here, but look at him now.

JRC can be very good creatively, but he's never really been consistent - again, though, I'd put a lot of that down to repeated injury disruption. His versatility may also hinder him somewhat as well, as it did with the likes of Phil Jones at United. Becoming a jack of all trades but master of none isn't ideal. It can work if you're a James Milner type with incredible fitness, but when you're injury prone as Jones was and JRC is then it becomes a bit more problematic.

He's had a couple of games in CM where you think, yeah, he could be superb in this role. Unfortunately tends to be followed be a strong of anonymous matches before getting injured. I'd agree that he's more effective in the RWB role, but it's a demanding position for somebody with a fragile body.

Our match before this one was against Sheff W. where we put in a shit performance, yet the only change Eustace made was a forced one; today's MoTM McFadzean for Wharton. He did the same after our beating in Bristol and fielded the same side versus Leeds and while it was a performance full of fight, we were a bit lucky not to concede.

With that said I think the effort was there today, just feel as if the quality is lacking and we've become so reliant on Smods.

Been a purple patch player for some time, just harder to detect because he's also incredibly injury prone. When he's on form, he's really on form, but he's not consistent and at 24 he should be by now. Granted his regular injury layoffs won't help with that. Long story short, we can't rely on him, and that's a shame because a fully fit, consistent JRC would be a key player for us. I just don't think we'll ever get to see that.

I agree, but he's never set the world alight in CM for us. His best performances have come at RWB so think he flatters to deceive a lot of the time. When he continued in the same way as versus Owls, I would've subbed him on for the more dynamic Ayari. Ayari had a point to prove against Coventry too, it's just that Eustace forgot about it when preparing for t he game....

And sadly neither has a footballing brain.

JRC appears to have lost his while injured as well. One-touches 'passes' randomly and has been really poor the past two matches. Would prefer Ayari starting over him atm.

Never thought I'd be crying out for Hedges but we're so slow and predictable it hurts to watch. This squad needs some heavy investment.

  5. A bit of karma for Wharton as well. He had a very nasty challenge on Vaulks when they scored their second, think he only avoided a card as it lead to a goal for them. When he got injured, it was a stonewall pen, if their attacker had gone down. And another yellow.

He's been decent as of late, but over the last couple of seasons hasn't looked the part. Lower Championship calibre unfortunately.

Can some one please explain how he doesn't just catch, punch, kick it away instead of watching it bounce in to the goal?!

    Inexcusable.

    BUT

Hyam loves a wobbly pass to his teammates. Looks so disinterested sometimes and his whole demeanour looks off. Signed up for promotion hunting, and not up for a relegation scrap - our captain.

That Pears performance today was abysmal, no doubt about that. But his outstanding performance at Elland Rd last week will probably be enough to keep us up.

    That said, he needs replacing.

Just as a side note, Coventry were down and out a few years ago, no ground, no owners, no money, no future, just sayin………

I won't be sleeping well at night until we beat Coventry. Birmingham will be on better goal difference if they win at Hudds and we lose, and Plymouth need a draw to pass us. Sheffield Wednesday have hope now and can see them beating Sunderland away on the final day of the season to send us down.

  8. Low ratings all around, but I must've watched a different match to a  lot on here. I thought JRC was atrocious, and when he wasn't lumping the ball forward he lost possession in a variety of ways. Tronstad unusual sloppy as well, and Brittain was so poor. Dolan and Gallagher really struggles in matches like this, where there's too much space between our lines, and we can't get enough bodies fast enough forward. I really hope we play four at the back again versus Coventry and find a place for Ayari in the team. Would give Pickering a rest too, tbh.

Based on errors, Hyam and Pears should sit that match out as well, but can't see that happening.

The Norwich & West Brom  results today means if Coventry beat Hull at home in midweek they’ll still have a significant interest in the top6 when they come to Ewood.

I hope they do come here with that extra weight on their backs. We owe them one from last season...

It’s like selling Damien Duff for about £8 million back in the day. He’s a once in a generation player for a team like Rovers. Palace must be pissing themselves.

Duff was around £17m, wasn't he? Losing Duff and Wharton hurt bad. Can't watch Palace games.

  11. I think I might have aged 10+ years after watching that game. So much at stake for both teams, and to be the first team to beat Leeds at Elland Road this season is some achievement. Leeds have looked leggy recently, but they had one extra day's rest and we made only one change from our battering at Bristol C. Unfortunate results around us but teams are fighting tooth and nails and there are about five or six good teams and the rest are, bar Rotherham, can beat anyone on any given day. The top three are feeling the pressure of facing the desperate teams like ourselves and all of a sudden dropping points all over the place. What a league!

Sheff W was apparantly better than Stoke so they've improved a lot from earlier in the season, but I think we'll be confident going into that game, and will probably continue in the same shape and try and hit them on the break. It's a must-win for them so they must open up.

Szmodics player of the match and player of the season. What a man! Top marks for everyone involved. I have to admit I thought Leeds would adjust and beat us in the second half.
