The shackles of 'being able to play football' and 'trying to achieve anything' are well and truly off

We've been shit for a while mate. Not sure you've noticed. Difference is we have more players at the back defending.

Who do I blame all the injuries on?

Very good defensive performance from everyone involved. Need some more individuality up front. Dilan maybe our best option off the bench.

And that's saying something. I'd put Ayari on here, even if it's out wide.

So many forced passes. Keep it going and get Buckley more on the ball but stop with the early cross-field balls; go at them.

Was reading the comments of a Sheff Utd fan earlier who was saying his legs had clearly gone before they gave him a 12 month extension.

Offloading Wharton and Travis in the midst of a relegation battle is borderline criminal. Surely heads will roll if we go down.

I totally get why Eustace played Moran on Saturday, I would have done the same, he looked good on Tuesday night. But, Newcastle didn't harry and press like Swansea, he had time in that game. To be fair to JE he hooked him at half time, I doubt he'll start again.

If this is another Morton situation, supposedly, that he has to be played, then that's another poor indictment of the state we're in - add it to the list.

I agree. Newcastle was a game where we had a lot less pressure though. We're set up now to make fewer personal mistakes and take a lot less risks. Considering that, it's quite a feat to be able to do what Moran did in the first 20 minutes of the game at Swansea. I can't remember which game it was, but he made bad mistake earlier in the season as well and shook it off well - but also no apologies or regret shown so would let him start on the bench.

millwall will try and overpower us,on set pieces they are particularly potent, facing  a big side is usually our worst nightmare as well, not looking forward to it tbh, will be an ugly game

We need to try and keep our composure and avoid getting dragged into their realm. It's on our turf so they're the ones that should be intimidated. Start on the front-foot, keep possession in areas where it's 'safe'. Be positive and play the ball forward, and avoid getting countered. Work like dogs.

    Pears

    Hyam - McFadzean - Wharton

Brittain - Tronstad (alt. Ayari) - Buckley - Pickering

    Dolan - Szmodics - Gallagher

Made the right substitutions on Saturday but we don't have many strings to play on at the moment. Surprised that he chose Buckley and Moran and not Ayari for the latter, as he had a real positive game versus Newcastle. Moran has made some errors earlier in the season so half guessing he was due a start or we would have to pay Brighton.

We struggle to keep a hold of the ball, and although there's hard work now we look lost when going forward. A lot of players look nervy and afraid to make mistakes so it's hoofball and a lot of adventurous passes instead of waiting for the right time to cross/pass. Against Newcastle we had little to lose so that's the difference from playing in the league. Just hope Eustace can instill some confidence in the group as it's not just about defending.

Needs to get more out of Szmodics.

Only seen a bit of him and he clearly struggled at Coventry but between him and the higher rated (by Brighton) Moran, I'd rather have him.  As you say, has a bit of spark and devilment about him.  He could be a shrewd signing for the right money.

    Shame we don't have any.

Moran definitely has potential too. Thought he was excellent last night, but he's been blowing hot and cold all season and if only he could weight his passes properly. Both the Brighton lads are only 20 years old so can't expect either to be the finished article yet.

Pears said his lay-off hade made him a better goalkeeper as he had focused on strengthening other parts of his game. I tend to agree. Better kicking and looks more confident to me. Repeating myself here but if he had been between the sticks all season, we wouldn't have been near the relegation zone.
