  1. I'm not as worried as some people seem to be about today. For me we always looked a far better side in possession and looked like we might open them up wthout creating a lot. We never looked like conceding apart from when Reid fell on the ball injured and let their guy in for a 1 on 1.

I wouldn't say that PNE looked fitter than us as some people had suggested. It was blimmin hot today (my face is glowing after 90 minutes in the sun) and that affected the game quite a bit. You were never likely to see box to box breaks in that heat.

    Good day out as well.

  2. (tongue placed in cheek)

    To play Devils advocate:-

Neill ------> Hunt (Neill will be suspended far more as refs hate him)

Amoruso -----> Ngotty (Amo is slow and can't derfend, remember the Turks)

Matteo ------> Jaidi (has Jaidi ever captained a team to relegation?)

Gray ------> Gardner (Has Gardnder ever played in a team relegated from the top flight?)

Emerton -----> Giannakopoulus (Emerton can't beat a man and has never won Austrailasia 2004)

Ferguson ----> Campo (Fergies not fit and used to playing St Mirren. Campo played for Real)

Thompson -----> Djorkaeff (Thompsons not fit full stop.)

De Pedro ------> Okocha (Ones a proven Premier League player. The other is Grabbi waiting to happen)

Stead ------> Davies (Davies knows how to 'exploit the box' in Tokyo Joe's better)

    (tongue removed from cheek)

  3. then try reading the accounts of the people who were at the Bradford tragedy, that will really hit home.

I am not saying that it is in anyway "worse" or "better" than hillsborough but they are both real life events that have happened.

They may well hit home harder. And if someone posted an account from bradford on here I would read that too. I wouldn't say take it off a Rovers message board which is the point I was trying to make.

btw why would I want a spade AFTER I've dug a hole your majesty?

  4. I really am taking an even bigger dislike to the fans of Liverpool Football Club. not just because of this, but everything - how I always have to skip through essay's of the Kop, anti Souness and Hillsbrough Threads. If I wanted to talk about these topics seriously or in depth I would honestly visit one of your many websites.

    sad.gifsad.gifsad.gif

I've not read this thread up until now as I knew full well what it was about and, as I normal just spend a 10 minute glance at the site, didn't really have the time to read it. However not for one minute have I minded it's presence. If you don't want to read it then don't read the bloody thing!

However as I can't get to sleep I've sifted through every post in this thread and am glad I did. The 'essay' by the 17yr old Gary who was in the Leppings Lane end that day is one of the most chilling and emotional accounts I have ever read.

  5. Please enlighten me on who these previous scapegoats are apart from actual players.

Oh, do they not count? huh.gif

But for most defeats at football some or all of the players are blamed. We see it week in week out on here after a Rovers defeat. You might as well say you can set your watch by it - football team loses scapegoat must be found. The fact is in this case it's a bad decision that's cost us.

In 1989 for the Palace playoffs did you say thats right blame courtney - Rovers not good enough so scapegoat must be found?

  6. I don't remember a scapegoat in the 2002 World Cup apart from Eriksonn's tactics. Nor one in Euro 2000 unless you mean Phil Neville shocking tackle. The ref in France 98 got some stick for sending Beckham off for a 'petulant' flick although Beckham took most of the stick for that one. Please enlighten me on who these previous scapegoats are apart from actual players.

If the goal had have gone in at the other end then there would have been outrage but that would been purely aimed at David james and his nonsense of an attempt to jump through an opposition player to get the ball. I've seen the goal tons of times now and it should have stood.

Ask yourself this. Does the keeper move more into Terry (who is nudged by the defender) than Terry moves to the keeper? Yep

  7. After nearly a week I've still not got over it. I feel like I should have some sympathy for the current plight of Mr Meir but I haven't. That Portuguese keeper is a cheat. Witness his two 5 minute injury breaks tonight. I've not wanted Holland to win an international as much since we had to rely onthem to dump the Argies out of France 98. Now it's down to Greece or the Czechs.

    Figo was good tho! smile.gif

  8. Firstly I've only read the last 3 or 4 pages to get the gist of whats been wrote since this morning and it's very off topic. For what its worth Oklahoma has contributed quite a bit to Euro2004 with reports of what peoples views and events from out in Portugal. I sometimes feel we seem to chase 'opposition' fans off this messageboard to quickly. It's not his fault we didn't turn up!

Back onto the disallowed goal and its a rank decision. The linked photos don;t tell the story. The keep who is down after the header hits the bar come up and goes under Terrys arm. Terry is actaully nudged towards the keeper by the defender (which nobody who says the goal should have been disallowed seems to mention). It's a bloody good job this ref wasn't at the Baseball ground for Kevin Morans goal in the playoffs when he took the ball and 6 men into the back of the net!!!

Finally Sven is clueless. I've said this for a few years now that when he needs to change it he can't do it and tactically he's niave. I've took quite a bit of stick over these years by other England fans who accuse me of holding these opinions because he's a Swede. However the tide is slowly turning and at work more and more people agree. On ITV tonight Venables was obivously unimpressed and Townsend (the converted Paddy?) just stopped short of saying he should go. Following this Skinner, Baddiel and the crowd on FF really put the boot in (Turd Gripe lol).

Any chance of a poll either on here or elsewhere? Should he stay or should he go???

  9. That's why the linesman called the goal back - he was in the proper position to actually see Terry's arm holding back Ricardo as he tried to go towards the ball.

It could have gone either way (the decision and the match), and that's the way life is.

The linesman gave the goal. The ref disallowed it.

  10. If you look at the replay, Terry has his arm on the goallies shoulder - stopping him from getting to the ball. Thought it was harsh but then didn't expect anything more from a very poor referee.

The keeper actually moves into Terry hence why he ends up with his arm over his shoulder. Also the only actual raising of hands for a push in the incident (as the nob ref indicated) if you look closely was by the defender on Terry as he was about to jump.

    David Beckhams reputation

  11. I was just going to say a word or two about sitting back and defending a 1-0 lead for the majority of the game, a tactic the English on here hate the Italians for, but England never do that themselves so I won't bother...

I heard that humble pie they are serving now is really tasty  tongue.gif

Tchocky I'm bestest mates with a mod on this messageboard and any more of that I'll be getting permission to tell you where you can go! wink.gif

  12. Why just defend all game?

Why take Gerrard off with 8 minutes left when if they equalise we have no subs for extra time?

Why did hardly change anything despite having NO possession?

Why is it a free kick if you boot comes off?

Why not play Scholes 'in the hole' instead of Vassell and Own isolated up front?

Why pick beckham on current form?

Why get a twit (sp?) of a ref?

Where exactly is there a push for campbells goal?

Why did James not stand still and scorpion kick Postiga's crap penalty away?

Why do we have a Swede managing England?

  13. Ste that is just bloody rude, tell you something i'll be having words with one of the moderators who just happens to be a mate to have u kicked off as a moderator because your attitude bloody stinks

I have to say i have not laughed at a message board post as much as that one EVER. laugh.gif

  14. Shows how opinions differ. I too thought Gerrard was the best of the midfield quartet. He is the only one that runs with pace and determination at the opposition. He also seemed to be everywhere filling in holes when the others had disappeared. At one stage he sprinted wide to block a winger (i use that term loosely!) getting in a cross, then when the ball was played in field he was closing down the shot from 25 yards. At the same time Lampard was just coming back into view.

Still I'm not knocking any of the others in the team beacuase we won and they all contributed although, dare i say it, Beckham did bugger all again.

Gary Neville V Christiano Ronaldo. Could be interesting biggrin.gif
