  1. And THAT is why he needs to be punished (if found guilty), like anyone else. One matchdays he must be no where near a football ground.
  2. More a case of how its kept. The Best consistant pint of Thwaites Bitter was served by the late Keith Barron at Bulls Head Redlam. ( IMO ) Like any beer though if you don't treat it right the taste will be compromised.
  3. Would have carried on walking in the rain to the Boars Head as its less expensive, if it wasn't for the quality of the Ale.
  4. Royal Oak - Riley Green. Lamb Hot-Pot and Plate Steak and Kidney Pie. £12 each. Relatively expensive for pub food, however you get plenty and it tastes excellent. Good to feel a warm open fire too, after walking in the rain.
  5. start of things to come? or a token jesture ?
  6. I for one am rather partial to scouring the reduction items for a bargin. If that means the notional sell by date has passed , then my nose takes over and makes the final decision. Could do with knowing the best times and the best days to visit the local supermarkets for the maximum savings. Best item so far was a Leg of Lamb for £7 instead of £30. Into Freezer, came out on an appriopriate event and tasted just fine.
  7. Oyster and Otter for sit down Sunday Lunch. Food quality excellent, portions small. Staff need to stop look bored and hanging around and chatting loudly when there a few customers. The Guest beer was undrinkable, the Wainwright was very cloudy, so one is looking after the beer. Considering there were only 3 tables active, we waited 40 mins for our mains. Yes the food tastes good and is presented well and for this it deserves to be patronised as a local business. But I would avoid busy periods and drink bottled beer larger or cider.
  8. Recent visits: Naga ( Indian in Abby Village ).... would return for the excelent flavoured food and pleasent modern surroundings. Oyster and Otter ( take away )... had to order in restaraunt, staff dozy, took ages, mixure of exellent and warmed up chips, fish nice. tarter sause, very nice.. NO SALT OR VINAGAR!!!!
  9. Local recomendations Kebab - Zands Mill Hill Curry - Al Raj Feniscowles Chinese - Cherry Tree Chippy Italian (dissapointed wouldn't recomend any) English - Clogg & Billy thninking about it, Other than not having the hastle of the mess in the kitchen etc... I perfer to cook my own food. It always exceeds my expectations and is loved by everyone!
  10. Issue i have with kids, is the attitude a few places take to them. Like "kids" areas.... When my lad was young he was taught to behave, and he did. So the times we visited places on our travels that would not allow him to sit with us, we left. I am not going to sit in a playgroup to eat my lunch! Also I refruse to eat when kids are running about... i request to be moved , if not walk! Sort your children out sumbags , you know who you are.....
  11. Les Ferdinand better buck his ideas up! http://ratings.food.gov.uk/QuickSearch.aspx?q=rosso&refla=oFf5PvQNUOs%3d
  12. Algheros; shame. I have had some good "times" there, but come to think about it carefully the food has not figured as the theme of any evening. So good for groups, party etc. Family or intimate meal.... forget it.
  13. Have to say the food quality at the Butlers has risen significantly from where it was 6 months or so ago. New Chef perhaps?
  14. After watching some of those vids, i CAN'T HELP THINKING OUR CURRENT SQUAD WOULD BE CRUSHED BY THAT TEAM.
  15. Higher Buck , Waddington. Re-visited on Sunday, a regular choice. Once again simple, well prepared, well presented, well priced food.
  16. My girlfriend works in town, her colleagues called the above mentioned place to place a lunchtime take out order. No one finished their meal.. No one would consider ordering again. All of them fleeced for expensive low quality, poorly prepared food. Girlfriend has a tin of Heinz soup and laughed .. ....
  17. Wonder if police / stewards will make both sets of fans sit down.... OR make rovers fans sit down and let the dingles stand. will they wade it to throw out fould mouthed Dingles ... or pick on the small blackburn kid that shouts F*** OFF to the Dingle goalie......... You can see it will be one rule for one, an one for another.......... ... . SO PLEASE SAME RULES ALL OVER THE GROUND!!!!!!!!!!
  18. malt house farm, on'th way to chorley........ excellent deviled chicken. clean pleasent ( beer / soft drinks EXPENSIVE ) , food relativly inexpensive..... . . nice on a nice day to sit out ...bit Dark inside.
  19. report please... i can't afford to be dissapointed when i dine out... and woulf like to try it. p.s. was in the swan in pendleton, beer excellent food looked and smelt good... to busy for a ad hoc meal. But may book in one night and report back.
  20. Went crown and thistle over the weekend. Used to go there for the traditional english pub fare. Left dissapointed. The specials board did not reflect what was on, the senior waitress told every diner that red snapper was now paella etc etc.. Also heard her describe the chicken dish quite differently to 2 different tables... WHY NOT JUST UPDATE THE CHALK BOARD (Doh!). The service was poor. more like "what do you want" rather than "how may we help". The food was indeed plentyfull for the starters. Chips homemade but soggy. tasted ok. Peppercorn sauce, best ever tasted .. Steak too thin to be made rare, so why acccept an order then present it medium... Tested good and was a tender cut of meat. The other main meal was nice. £50+ for 2, for pub food. Service / attitude needs to be improved, the older staff need to set a better example to the younger staff, who seemed to be more pleasent if not a little nervous. One thing i though was odd, a very nice flat creen tv was on quite loud. SOAPS arnt what you go out for a meal to hear.
  21. Have been there, and for a change, well in Blackburn anyway was worth a punt. Would I return, ...NO. Good Idea but no imagination to the menu. No subtalty to the seasonings. You will end up with quite a big bill for someting you could have bought in LIDL and defrosted yourself. I like the idea of a caribean food establishment, shame about the delivery, but I guess its like all things the first 80% is the easy bit , it's the last 20% that makes the difference. Unfortunatly I dont think this place will make the extra effort for that last 20% . Unlike the Clog and Billy, where they have. Prices very similar, product worlds apart.
  22. Ive have just completed Paul O'grady's Autobiography. There are lots in there for 40+ lancahire lads to regcognise.
  23. Judging by Wednesday evening, the absence of the drummer will aid the creation of new songs. Very difficult to get a new song going when there are only those immedatly about that can hear and try to join in. Then after 2 mins of maybe getting somewhere, "boom, boom boom" ( sorry that was blackadder ), "bang, bang, bang, bang"... new song fizzels out to be replaced by "Gerrin to um". New era, onwards and upwards...
