  1. What happened to Jermaine Jenas' £20 million price tag?
  2. That's like asking Paul Dickov to forget the referee and not bitch everytime a decision is not found in his favour. Robbie Savage is an attention-seeker (or 'high maintenance' as Mark Hughes diplomatically put it). Birmingham fans will tell you that he, not satisfied with doing what he does best - i.e defensive work, has always had the habit of making rushes into the box to try and score and receive the adulation of the crowd, usually failing to convert and leaving a gaping cavity in midfield. The Armani tattoo etc. merely confirm his love to be the centre of attention. Quite frankly, he's not a good enough player to be the centre of attention. It's alright Ronaldinho regaling the world with his 'show-offy' skills but Savage should accept his short-comings. Ryan Nelsen is the perfect role-model for him. An excellent player, without being flash, without expecting the world to revolve around him and getting attention due to his talent and nought else. (But leopards don't change their spots, so Sav is not going to change despite anything).
  3. Not going to happen. Same situation as Michael Gray - paid too much. Come to think about it, Gray would probably be a more attractive loan signing for a Championship team than Flitcroft because he did quite well at Leeds.
  4. Lack of creativity in central midfield is a major problem if we continue to play 4-5-1 in Bellamy's absence. Tugay cannot sustain his form playing every game and otherwise our options are limited - I mean Flitcroft? The guy is a has-been and offers so little to our team it's untrue. Kuqi may or may not be Prem standard but playing up front in our current team is one hell of a thankless task. There are few more painful sights in football than a smug David O'Leary.
  5. Re-joined Stuttgart Kickers
  6. There is a gloomy inevitablity about the future for clubs like Rovers (and lower league clubs have had it worse for years). Any player who emerges as a young Premiership star will be snapped up before you can say Damien Duff or Louis Saha or Scott Parker or Shaun Wright-Phillips. What is the point if the majority of the Premiership clubs are going to be feeder teams to the big-guns who are all but untouchable with their annual Champions' League funds?
  7. It was the risk Hughes took by signing Bellers. He's quality but injury prone. Paul Gallagher will probably be pleased.
  8. Fulham are excellent on the counter-attack with Boa Morte (if his mind's still in it) and Malbranque. I won't be surprised if Hughes reverts to 4-5-1 to cope. 1-1.
  9. Jack of all trades, master of none.
  10. Well, that's what we thought after his horrendous first half display in last season's win over Norwich.
  11. Couldn't have put it better myself. Having said that, there are other areas that require urgent attention, namely, right wing and left back.
  12. I think Hughes may have something to answer for. He changed the formation to 4-5-1 from 4-4-2 when it was 1-1 and it worked so appallingly badly that he reverted back to 4-4-2 by taking Mokoena off. I don't think there should be panic but certain areas need to be seriously examined. a) There is no-one challenging Emerton for the right midfield berth. b.) Hughes needs to sort out the left back situation. Drop Matteo and replace him with either Gresko or Andy Taylor imo.
  13. Who is challenging Emerton for the right wing berth? The answer is no-one and that is a very worrying situation.
  14. There's no need for that. Clearly the guy fantasizes about Egil Ostenstad donning the Rovers shirt again to show Jansen how it's done.
  15. I said a minimum of 45 million before, mistakenly thinking the limit was 50. However, I'd say the minimum squad value should be 90 million and no transfers. It's just an experimental thing and may yet fall flat on its face. League code is 193161-31239 if you want to give it a try. Just pick your over-rated players to try and finish bottom.
  16. Mr. 6?!!! What an absolute idiot. Thank goodness you didn't mean me. I have always considered Keith Gillespie to be something between a one-trick pony and a mule - because his pace (hardly a 'trick') was all he had going for him. He contributed now and again as a fill-in but head-less chicken are only so useful.
  17. 1. Chelsea 2. Arsenal 3. Man U 4. Liverpool 5. Man City 6. Tottenham 7. Charlton 8. Rovers 9. Everton 10. Boro 11. Aston Villa 12. Newcastle 13. Bolton 14. West Brom 15. Birmingham 16. Fulham 17. Sunderland 18. Portsmouth 19. Wigan 20. West Ham
  18. And save on wages. There must be a reason why an international goalie with a fairly good reputation as a shot stopper (if not as the most reliable player) is happy to waste away his career on our bench.
  19. Bellamy's continual non-appearance must be a concern. Hopefully he'll be fit for Espanyol.
  20. David Platt. Nottingham Forest gave him a managerial opportunity, he buggered up but they showed him a bit of faith. But as soon as the England U21 job was dangled in front of him, he repayed the faith by jumping ship. I put him down as being partly responsible for David Dunn's exponential ego growth which resulted in him going from England U21 captain and exciting star in the making to being a bit part player at Rovers. (Obviously, Dunn is more responsible and injuries played a part).
  21. How long did he last at Inter? Why didn't he get a look in at Parma? He was younger then and maybe he has improved since and I will be pleased if he does prove himself, but I'm just saying that I have my doubts about his defensive strength. And the Italian clubs have never splashed big money on duds. I mean, AC Milan never bought Bolton reject, Javi Moreno, for massive bucks did they? Finally, I really think that this myth about Gresko putting in Roberto Carlos-esque performances during his loan spell needs to be dispelled. Sure - he did well. But remember, the fans were comparing him to Nisse who was calamitous at times in that position and Gresko had one Damien Duff playing in front of him at the end. I think even Dom Matteo would look impressive with the Duffster ahead of him. Imo, Gresko's incognito was exposed, during that loan spell, when we got hammered five something by Newcastle (I think at Ewood). Tiny Taylor was monstrously bad at right back but Gresko was culpable in a big way too. The new season will prove whether Gresko has the makings of a solid left back.
  22. I have a feeling that those cranking up the hype about Gresko will be in for a nasty surprise. Imo, the guy is not up to it defensively and will be found out this season and won't be able to blame Danny Mills.
  23. Apparently, Rovers are sending out a strengthened reserve side to play Cercle Brugge tomorrow. Could mean that guys that missed out today - Jansen, Jemal Johnson, Enkelman and Nelsen (although he was suffering from a minor injury after the last game) might play tomorrow.
  24. oops sorry, didn't think of that.
  25. Anyone fancy entering a team to compete for the bottom of the league? Pick your over-rated eleven (minimum total fee of £45 million) and see if you have the magic of Brian Kidd. My 'good' team is already in, rover6isright, and my 'Kidd' team will be when I get around to it.
