i was in the chelsea end last nite (mate had free tickets) and the anti-savage sentiment was (of course) rife, and i must confess that for the most part i agreed with them. he should have been off. he did not play football, he bullied.

i know some posters admire this quality (and myself too, think keane, gerrard, viera, butt etc etc) but savage is a joker. i was dissapointed when we signed him, distraught at the price, and now ive seen him play in our shirt i have even less respect for him.

true he was a nuisance but im not sure he is good for our cause. his strike was terrific but aside from that his passing was sloppy and he argued with/b0ll0cked his own players (neill and nelson infront of the chelsea fans and more in midfield that escape me). IMO that does not encourage or inspire.

so what do we make of our new star man??

p.s. dickov's behavior towards the end was also a joke. he should have been off - hacked at terry whilst punching his ribs!!

p.p.s. their chants are hilarious: celery CERLERY, if she dont come then tickle her bum with a lump of celery CELERY........ (sticks of celery being hurled around).

anyway, all told not a disgraceful result against 'the champions'; mokoena and MGP very promising, just wish we bought a stiker instead of "the blonde boy in the middle".

Jesus christ, we have empty seats in our stands every game and u sit with that lot. If you were a true fan u would buy a ticket anyway, i would never, ever do that. Im sure you enjoyed their celebrations at the end aswell didnt you.

If anyone saw a vw polo driving down the M55 about half an hour ago with the only person in the car hitting the steering wheel, shouting to himself and firing out obsenities towards diouf, that was me.

I dont think anyone should boo barry, im sure theres gonna be boos tonight but i dont agree. At the end of the day i think he is homesick, even though its only 3 hours away, maybe he likes the city life, where hes lived all his life in glasgow, instead of quiet old Lytham, if anyone has been to Lytham....his transfer request is very understandable. However theres not a chance of him leaving unless they double the bid, and thats what rovers will tell them to do. Why should we lose 3.5 million on a player we only bought off the same club only 17 months ago. Not to mention the guy wasnt playing for us for 6 months, we payed him still, provided him with everything he needed and helped his rehab. The cheek of Rangers, its a disgrace.

I think Barry is going to be professional about this and carry on playing for rovers. Then hopefully we can carry on improving and he might stay.

It does anger me though when players cant honour their contracts. Its a contract!!! and a very expensive one. Same with Savage, altho im looking forward to giving robbie a huge rovers welcome tonight.

Another happy weekend and well pleased with our current situation and the attitudes of the players in the last 3 months has been great. The commentator said no team outside the top 7 has lost fewer games than us. Which is nice to hear.

Only thing bugging me is that im not here now saying 'nice to see midfielders scoring instead of our strikers scoring every week' i.e we desperatly need something upfront and fast. This disciplinary is also becomming a concern.

Strange to here everyone on here saying tugay was awful, must admit i didnt see much of him in the highlights but radio lancs guy said he had a great game.

we seem to be doing things one step at a time, first of all it was turn draws into wins, which we have started doing, now we need to kill games off. Bolton, charlton, now pompey, just 1 goal up, its not good for our nerves and soon enough someone will punish us. Hopefully not today. Come on get a second!!

just got back, in a word - delighted. Everyone played well today, friedel worried me a bit when he refused to make those corners his own and just stayed on his line but thankfully it turned out ok, great save by brad first half aswell. I see people have stopped slagging matteo recently, best weve had at left back for a long time.

I havent read the rest of the posts in this topic but im assuming there are people against savage coming and people for it.

Personally i cant see how people can be against it. He will definately improve our squad. Flitcroft is crap, tugay is old, douglas isnt ready. Savage is a good player, he is desperate to play for rovers, and will play well under Hughes. Like dickov, his enthusiasm and determination to win will rub off on the rest of the team.

Having savage in the same team as dickov will also make us the most hated team in the premiership, which is great! We can annoy fans everywhere we go and that helps our team cause dickov and savage will wanna rub it in the away fans faces. Hence the rapist chants aimed at dickov at the reebok!

Im happy, all we need now is Bellamy upfront and weve got the most hated team of all time.

Going to be a tough game this one with set pieces a big worry. However, 1 defeat in 9 and as people have pointed out, we have been the better team in most. Yesterday was enjoyable and i have to say im not exactly looking forward to tommorows wind and predictable railway nightmares but a win would make my christmas. I think we need to keep in mind the fact that we have 3 games now in 7 days and its going to be impossible to not shuffle the team around a bit, i think we should start this tommorow then at the same time as giving some players a rest, it gives hughes a chance to get a picture in his mind for villa, rather than starting the 11 that played yesterday and then they are all knackered by saturday and he wont know what to do.

Therefore not 'dropping' dickov but resting him, he isnt young afterall and the way he runs 2 games in 3 days is a bit much. At the same time hughes gets to see a gally/stead partnership.

Im am dreading this game, apart from the fact i expect us to lose its going to be made alot worse....
