1. thats a waste of 10 years, what should have happened:

26yrs old Shearer leaves blackburn in 1996 for Barcleona winning a European cup and two titles and a domestic cup. in 1999 he moves to Juventus for 18 million winning three league titles and top goal scorer in the champions league two years running. in 2003 at the age of 32 shearer returns home to Newcastle where he plays out the last few years of his career at the club he loves winning nothing but the love of the fans.

  2. Ive got to say that I think apart from Andy Cole he's, in my opinion, the most talented striker we've had since Shearer.  His awareness is embarassing at times, and shows up the likes of Kuqi for what he really is.....awful!

We need to build around Bellamy...Treat him with kidgloves if that's what is needed...Ok, I think he's a little ###### sometimes, but I'd rather have him than not...You ask defenders if it makes a difference to them on a saturdy morning if they know they're up against Bellamy or Kuqi.....

Lets kick on, keep him fit and get a fit Dunny in when the Brum go down....I'd would have liked to have had the chance to get Sutton.....Sutton or Kuqi...?.....Oh let me see....

Yeah he's class, shame he's a bit of a sick note, also Sukur was brilliant in that Fulham game, I think thats the best proformance I've seen since Shearer in terms of pure quality

  3. The consant blame on Emerton is nothing but disgracefull, the David Bentley of not deliverying, apart from Man U when he got two fluke goals, isnt getting half of the ###### that Brett takes every week that Rovers dont deliver.

Today, as the the commentators stated, none of the so called forwards made any runs that could trigger anything at all happenin in the last third off the pitch. To leave it all to Emo and the midfield to solve without runs is impossible. Lay the blame on someone who deserves the blame.

they were not fluke, see the Daivd Bentley thread they were all amazing goals according to some people on that thread(you know know you are)

I agree really, Bentley is talented but to deliever consistently in the premiership, thats a different matter, hopefully with time he's going to get allot better

  4. Is it just me or does your volume of posts increase after a run of dismal crap.  You did not seem very prolifant after our good run. dry.gif  Hey, look on the bright side we've now played 3 games against ManU and the scores are tied, nah that would not do would it, nowt to whine about there, sorry rev but I am as disappointed as you, reality is we were punching above our weight, we knew we were not that good and the results just happened to go our way.

In timeless true Rovers fashion we peak the interest of the public then let 'em down with a couple of performances that make em say same ol Rovers.  Nowt changes.

i think mine do, when we are winning i like to just enjoy the run and not waste time here, when we are losing is when topics are interesting, peoples reaction and solutions.

Only lately dispite winning i'm finding Kuqi was a matter of concern, but now is a several problems

  5. Not quite so sure about that, I think it may depend on whether he sees Blackburn Rovers as a permanent career option or whether like the German centre half we rescued from there (can't even remember his name now) he considers it beneath him.

I'm sure he'll have bags more natural ability than both Dickov or Kuqi. One thing that was noticeable on Saturday (even though he was allegedly under the weather) was that he seemed to have plenty of pace. If Bellamy came back the thought of a Blackburn Rovers forward line with TWO genuinely quick men in it is completely unheard of!

In 35 years of watching Rovers I think you can practically count our strikers with pace on your thumbs. Garner, Shearer (pre first injury), Bellamy.

    Anyone else?

    Gallacher was fast

  6. Never heard such rubbish in my life - the holding role in midfield is extremely specialist and requires a certain type of player. At it's best the player will have good defensive capabilities married with good passing ability. In Gerrard and Lampard we have (arguably) two of the best midfield players in the world and yet neither of them can truly master the holding midfield role.

    379541

yeah it is rubbish because he's totally over the top but i do think some players can adapt to that position, I mean how on Earth did Alan Smith become a midfielder, he was put into the defensive role, but he didn't do it very well, but he can do it

Even Campo's in the same postions as Phil Neville and Alan Smith, players poor in other positions so they play in defensive midfield

having said that a very good defensive midfielder has allot of talent. Some of my favourite players were defensive midfielders such as McKinlay, Batty and several others

  7. Yes, if you scored 6 goals, provided at least 4 assists, won us 9 points, turned round a cup tie when we were 2-0 down - I'd forgive you for being crap against the world's most expensive defender, when no-one put in a decent cross for you to head.

He's done well for a squad player having to step up and carry the load, but he's not Bellamy.  Gallacher, Jansen and Johnson would not have influenced as many results as he has, despite having better technical ability with their feet.

We went 8 games letting in only 2 goals with Shefki on the pitch for all of them.  We haven't let in 6 goals in the last 2 games because he's still on the pitch.

Very impressive, thanks to Kuqi we are are keeping clean sheets aswell, what a player, although i can't remember him scoring since Boro last year, rather putting in some very bad performances, thank to Kuqi we are keeping clean sheets.

I think he's done ok really, i'm amazed he is a footballer and hope we get allot better striker in soon but he's better then nothing, and will be a useful sub for poorer teams in the future

  8. Come on its obvious a lack of firepower has cost us the last two games.

All our goalscoring threat has come from midfield.

We ended the game on Wednesday with midfielders playing up front and today almost similarly (dont rate JJ at all).

Wouldve liked cup success but I thought that the League Cup would have been the most likely route.

agree, i have no complaints about losing to anyone with our current strikerforce.

  9. To all those who advocate going for Hartson, I would ask them to consider the following questions:

    1) Is the SPL a better standard than the Championship?

    2) How many goals did Kuqi score in the Championship as compared to how many does Hartson score in the SPL. Perhaps better to compare their relative  goal ratios.

When you have the answeres to both questions, ask yourself : is Hartson likely to be a better player for Rovers than Kuqi?

    377219

These are about right, ofcourse Hartson scored against Blackburn in Europe, that might not be included only league i think

    ok Hartson's stats:

    Appearances: 160

    Goals: 105

    Kuqi stats:

    Appearances: 110

    Goals: 39

  10. problem i have is, how are we in a position to spend more then Bolton and they spend nothing.

I can't see us getting 10 million, but we could risk £5 million and get a top top striker, when you have a player of Bemmamy's pace what i think we need is a Sutton type player as a target man.

We could probably get a decent aging target man dead cheap(fee wise), or spend a few million to get a 27-28 year old target man, obviously missed out big time on Sutton for reasons i'm not sure about, but there has got to be someone else out there.

I would think Hughes has an eye on Hartson as he's from Wales, would likely be free and a target man
