  1. Going to see Bruce Springsteen in June and the Kendall calling festival in July.

As for music at the moment, nothing much of interest really is there?

Are you going for the for the full weekend (Kendal)?

  2. Whilst 99.9 per cent of us on here didn't know the person who has tragically lost his life, I'm sure like myself we have felt genuinely saddened by what has happened.

Myself and my families sympathies go out to his loved ones.

On a slightly different note I've read one or two posts on this thread which have saddened and angered me and couldnt wait to reply in anger but I've decided now is not the time.

Please don't turn this thread in to a personal squabble between certain members

  3. I'm off to Sam's Chop House today.

Not sure if I've mentioned it before. Consistently superb.

    Corned beef hash my fave.

.Had a wander in there last night just for a beer though

Looks ok, said we might try it in future. £3.15 for a pint of bitter :o whats the world coming to.

  4. Taken from another thread:

I recall being told a story about a lad that used to drink in the Clifton arms and later worked in the Jubilee that jumped the fence in the corner of the riverside late 70’s, he ran alone into the 5000 burnley fans in the darwen end, they backed off, must have thought he was carrying a grenade! Then he was saved by the police, fined and they had a whip round in the pub to pay his fine.

Never forget that Gav, the madman was stood near us before he tried t' take em all on

  5. Owens coaches, back window went through on this one as we pulled away to the usual Lancs v Yorks rivalry.

I remember that underpass Ozz, if you got through without a kicking you had "survived"

    Dirty Leeds

Cliff Owens n' Tom Jacksons coaches.....them wer days! :D

  6. Probably duplicating earlier posts but..

"The Damned United" by David Peace.

It's a semi-fictional account of Brian Clough's 44 days in charge of Leeds United. We're going back to 1974 here.

Just to replay for anyone who is interested: Clough made Shearer look like Grabbi in his playing days at Boro & Sunderland. Got himself seriously crocked. Managed Hartlepools United (yes, the "s" was there then) with Peter Taylor before both moved to Derby County. They got promoted in their second year and then went on then to win the old first division; into the European Cup and got knocked out at the semis.

Clough & Taylor then fell out with the Derby County board, resigned & took up a job with Brighton & Hove Albion.

Then dirty dirty dirty Leeds came for him (Taylor refused to go.) Clough had to deal with the legacy of Don Revie at Leeds & crashed.

A cracking read. The postscipt does mention that Clough & Taylor later took Forest to two European Cup wins in 1979 & 1980

Cracking read, just hope the film released in UK cinemas late march, can do it justice.

  7. Need some help here. My missuss is a big "Queen" fan and saw the adert on "Granada" for the "Queen" + Paul Rodgers concert at MEN, and suggested we fork out £100+ to have the chance to see a second class "Queen" plus some guy we haven't heard of before play some of the old favourites. Anyway, we bought a CD of said couple and no "Queen" songs :o. Anybody know if the concert will be the same? If it is, I'd rather spend our money on a good tribute band/concert. Thanks.

Been quite a bit of Queen on sky arts channel recently, (ch256 I think) might be worth checking out for the missus EC. Usually repeat stuff on there.

Watched the Johnny Cash San Quinten gig the other day on there, worth a watch if only to listen to the inmates interviews.

The Who are on this friday, I think its Las Vegas 1999 :tu:

  8. If we're being honest, we're all being a bit two faced about this, if it was any of the other players who had pulled out, we'd all be going "bloody disgrace" "who do they think they are" and "too big for their boots" (that is if we cared that much about an under 21 tournament)

Have to agree with that RB, it's what the common football fan is about, but on a slightly serious note it might teach us to look a little deeper in to players comments and actions that they make take.

Saying that if it's a dingle or a Bolton player I for one will revert to type

  9. Bentley actually came on to Talk Sport and spoke honestly about his decision. He made it quite clear this was his choice and that he had explained himself fully to Pearce. Refreshing honesty considering the fame grabbing tired out players of the last world cup who didn't own up to their fatigue and cost England dearly. Bentley has not only his, but England's best interests at heart as he prepares himself for the long season ahead leading up to Euro 2008.

The presenters are fully backing him. Bentley came across as if he has matured greatly and after I got over the disappointment of his withdrawal I'm proud of him.

Also said he had took advice from senior England players and that they had warned him that you can "hit a brick wall" come October/november after playing all season then playing a summer tournament.

He said he owed it to himself and Rovers fans to be 100% ready for the intertoto and coming season and by playing for u21's would only give him possibly a week before his return to Rovers.

With all this in mind he has taken a brave decision, but obviously has next season and possibly the euro championships next summer in mind.

A brave but a very astute one in my mind. (but I would say that wouldn't I)

The full interview can be heard again on talksport before they go off air at noon.

  10. He's black. If he was white, he'd be god. Anyone who thinks the criticism isn't based on this is extremely naive.

Sadly Jan, you must have a very low opinion of your fellow board members.

I have criticised his attitude on here, but trust me it's not because of his colour it's because he comes across as bloody lazy at times. SIMPLE AS!
