Szmodics is much more mobile than Dack, covers a lot more ground and runs the channels etc, so I think he would make a much better fist of playing as a 9 imo than Dack . Still he's great at 10, we should leave him there. Need one of Gallagher, Ennis or Telalovic to make the number 9 role really work. Difference between mid table or playoffs for us.

Completely agree with this. Szmodics would do a better job in the false 9 role than Dack did - but I'd still rather have him playing at 10 behind an out and out striker.

  2. It's probably worth noting that the Euro 96 team only had one player that played outside of the UK - Paul Ince. The English league wasn't the strongest in Europe at that stage - having not produced a Champions League/European Cup winners since 1984. We probably overstate how good some of those individuals in the 1996 squad actually were.

3 of the last 5 Champions League finals have now been won by an English club which to me suggests the Premier League is the strongest league in the world these days. Add the fact that the likes of Kane, Bellingham, Tomori, Trippier etc. are prepared to move abroad and gain continental experience stands us in very good stead.

I think it was Graeme Souness last night who said England shouldn't even have to go defensive against the likes of France. We should play our own game and go at them.

With Southgate in charge ? I don’t think so. 10 minutes of good football, 80 minutes of boring dross.

Anybody never seen the Mick McGrath own goal in the 1960 Cup Final ? That was it tonight.

Southgate is my concern. If we don't win anything, the blame falls at his feet.

  4. "I would've played for free. I'd have paid to play," he insists. "To have that amount of time playing for them in that era with those players and the fans. So many good people there, a great family club. It was incredible"

Makes me even more angry at what Venky's have done to this great club. To have a brilliant servant like that and treat him which such disdain is disgusting.

The under 21's are at Reading tonight and the match preview specifies that Sigurdsson won't be playing and there is no mention of Ennis. Hopefully there will be a BCD match this week so they can get some game time as Tomasson said both would be back after the international break.

I'm slightly worried though that they might not get be ready for Saturday.

From Saturday we've got 7 games in 22 days. We could do with them being ready sooner rather than later - even if they're not available for Saturday.

Salah doesn't get half the credit that he deserves as a player or person

That said I'm sure he will be off there at some point, but it will probably be when he's past is best before date

Top player. I remember watching him playing for Basel against an English side in Europe about 10 years ago and he took them apart. Criminally underused by Chelsea whilst he was there.

I can see why an Egyptian would want to move his family from Liverpool to Dubai for a few years though and line his pockets at the same time. I wouldn't blame him for wanting to go.

The reports definition and wording is what I've quoted "plummeted" is the word used.

    Shares Plummets 16.34%

    net profit down 60.6%

All this has been provided in their first quarter report.

Always wanted to use this line.

"You can't handle the truth " lol

11% drop in last month. With the size of venkys, that's not chicken feed.

You're only showing the bit of the graph that supports your narrative.

who would people go for, and who do we think wages wise would be realistic. Probably couldn't afford them, but Id be asking the questions to bertand and rose.

Danny Rose is a terrible idea. Don't think he's played a game in almost 2 years - and he was woeful at Watford.

Think he's had mental health problems hasn't he?

  9. Reports suggested Henderson was being paid £700,000-per-week - four times what he was earning at Liverpool - but he denied those claims.

"People can believe me or not, but in my life and my career, money has never been a motivation. Ever," he said.

There's me thinking he'd gone for the money.

Not sure why this defeat rankles with me so much, I usually just move on to the next match.

I always find it worse when you head into these bloody international breaks with a defeat.

3-0 win and we enter the break in the play off places with three back-to-back wins without conceding.

3-0 defeat and it's a long time until we next play and have the opportunity to make up for it.

That comment came actually from the player himself. here is the quote below:-

I’m a striker who is very fast and physical and love to be in the game, playing football and scoring goals. I think my physical attributes and speed will fit playing in England"

Rovers switch an exciting step for me, says Semir! | rovers.co.uk

nope. why should it be concern at all?  Given that he was very highly rated when Fleetwood and Bournemouth bought him for a reason and he has 4 England u20 caps and 1 u21 cap so it surely shows some quality given the huge pool they can pick from

Thanks - hadn't previously seen the quote from Semir. Certainly seems confident in his own ability.

As for Hill - there are plenty of players who have U20/U21 caps that have amounted to nothing. Harry Chapman for one. I'm not overly concerned by the Hill signing as I don't think he'll play many games at all.

I'm more worried at the fact that unless Sigurdsson is top drawer - we've gone backwards from last season.

apparently looking for a second and third tier team? where this from?

why does it really matter what Hearts fans really think?

Shouldn't it matters what he does in Rovers shirt only?

    https://rp-online.de/sport/fussball/borussia/borussia-moenchengladbach-semir-telalovic-das-ist-der-stand-v1_aid-95849645

"Semir Telalovic's application was impressive: With 15 goals and 13 assists that he collected last season for Borussia's U23s in the Regionalliga West, the striker went looking for a new club in mid-July.
The hope of Telalovic and his advisors to find a place with a second or third division club has not been fulfilled so far"

I'm also concerned that people seem to think Telalovic is rapid/fast. I've seen nothing to back this up from the clips I've seen - so not sure where that is coming from.

As for what Hearts fans thought of Hill - they didn't think he was good enough for the Scottish Premier League - which is surely a concern?

Something else I obviously missed over the summer was that con merchant Russell Martin getting the Saints job. After 2 years of midtable mediocrity with Swansea, conceding groundhog day over playing it goals every week, with their fans constantly asking for his head, he's somehow been rewarded?! I assume cos he 'tries to play the right way'.

Certainly makes Southampton a lot less likely to go up imo-bear in mind they've already scabbed a couple of late goals.

He's hardly torn up trees at either MK Dons or Swansea. No idea why people rate him so highly. His win percentage over his career is 37.3% compared to JDT at 47.7% for example.
