I don't think they will ever explain, possibly there is also an NDA on the result of the court action they took against Kentaro. The small matter of pride and embarrassment at their own failings would also make them reluctant to come clean.

    Great article by Nick Harris.

"One afternoon in July 2011 my phone rings. It is Mrs Desai. 'Shall we buy Raul from Schalke in Germany?' she asks. The Spaniard was available, perhaps for nothing, on around £6m a year.

'If you don't trust your manager or CEO, get replacements you do trust to help,' I told her, not for the first time."

"So why was Mrs Rao asking me for transfer advice in the first place? Because her faith in highly-paid football 'experts' was destroyed within months.

Anderson was one advisor, talking openly about being based at the training ground through January 2011's transfer window. He had also been involved, for a fee, in the introduction of Venky's to the Jack Walker Trust in 2010.

Separately, the day that takeover was complete, a contract came into play whereby Kentaro provided Venky's with 'consultancy services' including the hiring and firing of managers and players.

By spring 2011, Venky's believed they'd taken the wrong path. Anderson was put 'on the outside' and Venky's kept Kean on but embarked on a bitter secret legal dispute against Kentaro."

"In March 2011 the FA had written asking who was running Blackburn. The Rovers secretary, Andrew Pincher, wrote to the FA's head of integrity, David Newton, to disclose the Kentaro contract.

Pincher also confided to the FA that Venky's received consultancy services on their takeover from Brunei-based firm Crescendo Sports Limited. He wrote: 'An officer of SEM Limited, Jerome Anderson, has a connection with Crescendo.'

Anderson's alleged involvement was a potential conflict of interest if acting both for a potential buyer of a club and the seller. He denied any link to Crescendo or any involvement in Kentaro's contract with Venky's.

The FA considered whether Anderson contravened regulations prohibiting agents from influencing club affairs. He denied the sacking of Sam Allardyce and hiring of Kean were his ideas, and said the signing of SEM players including his son, Myles, were nothing to do with him."

"As Blackburn were relegated to the Championship in 2012, Mrs Desai trusted nobody but employees from home. One of them, a trainee hatcheries manager, was even sent to France to knock on club doors to inquire about transfer targets, in order to avoid rip-off agents. The ploy failed."

I think the Wainwrights stunt was more of a Thwaites idea in an attempt to grow that brand just as it was starting to take off and they realised they were on to a winner, before selling it off to Marstons to brew in the Midlands. Probably nothing to do with Rovers as it was served from pop up temporary bars on the concourse rather than from Rovers own catering stands.

Have to say I was disgusted to see that Thwaites are now marketing themselves as a 'Ribble Valley brewery' on their new beer pump clips and posters with no mention of Blackburn. Can't remember the last time I had a pint of Thwaites beer. Shame but they obviously see themselves as being above the town these days.

There were cask pumps on the main bars.

I don’t drink in the ground phil , I go to watch the Rovers and they are doing ‘basically ok’, but for a lot of fans they do like to put their money into the club by purchasing food and drink on a matchday.

I dislike the piss poor product and service they are receiving and a better product would actually bring more money into the club.

Surely the issue is three fold.

1 - prices have gone up massively in one summer - £3.80 to £4.50 a pint is a piss take from where I’m standing.

2 - The service is terrible and facilities that should speed things up are not used properly - i.e contactless and multi pint pourers or just a simple idea like ‘how about pre pouring some pints in the run up to half time?’

3 - The club still thinks just providing one basic lager is sufficient in 2019. The club hasn’t altered its offering since the new stands were built in the mid 90s. That was a pre Wetherspoons/pre CAMRA/pre micro brewery time when pubs largely served Carling/Fosters/Xxxx/Carlsberg on draft with a John Smiths/Boddingtons esque ‘ale’ keg also on draft. Tastes have moved on massively over the last decade, the club hasn’t.

Doesn’t seem a big issue to sort to me, but it won’t be as we have a management team without the initiative to do it.

Cask ale was sold at Ewood in the 90's/00's. I remember the pumps on the bars behind the Riverside but they were mothballed for some reason.

Is Ewood wmc still open? Aquaduct, Albion, Manxman all used to get good game revenue but sadly the pub trade is dying, especially for pubs of the aforementioned type.

Embrace your local, or lose it.

The WMC Supporters Group met last Wednesday and will be meeting again at Ewood Park WMC at 7pm on Wednesday 28 August. Great new initiatives in the pipeline. All welcome.

Before kick off it's fine. You can just walk straight up more often than not. But at half time there is a huge demand.

At half time, when the majority of the orders are for one of 3 items, they should just be pouring pints and leaving them to stand at the back. You give your order, they turn around and grab what is there, you pay and away you go. It would be so much quicker.

They have the machine which pours multiple pints at one time, but nearly every time I've tried pints from it, it is so off it tastes of vinegar. They have the technology but they obviously can't look after it well enough to use it.

Against Charlton, half of the problem was because people were going up and ordering 2 pint jugs only to be told they have run out of 2 pint jugs. The debate then ensues as to why they aren't allowed to have, in those circumstances, 2 pints for the same price as a 2 pint jug. People naturally think that's crazy and argue the toss. This delays things by a good minute.  Then the next person comes to the front and says "I'll have a 2 pint jug please..." and on it goes.

I accept that in a venue like that you are going to be paying over £4, and generally it's for something that is not the best. But at least make it so that you can actually get your hands on one without having to miss almost a quarter of the match !

I do struggle to accept how they can put the price of a pie up by 20% in the space of 10 weeks !!

The only thing I have seen recently to acknowledge the problem is the introduction of the bottle bar. Yes it's extortionate but at least you can get one in a reasonably speedy time.

The vinegar taste is beer that has gone off.

My issue isn't just the pricing, it's the service.

Against Oldham we had 5,000 fans on, and I genuinely waited over 5 minutes, and this was an hour before kick off.

I know what you're thinking, 5 minutes, not the end of the world right?.... wrong, I WAS THE ONLY PERSON IN THE QUEUE. Me, stood at the front, whilst they dilly dallied around with a system. 5 minutes, stood there with nobody else in sight, all I wanted was a bottle of Coke (£2.70)

The staff can't pour pints, the bottles aren't cold (water is £2.20!) and card payments at most tills take over 30 seconds to process. Shocking.

Oh for the days of Stadia Catering.

Re: Gallagher....yes he won headers.......but he flicked them onto......usually a Boro player.

Not blaming him it's just that if it is to be a tactic, someone has to be on the end of the flicks.

it reminded me of Rhodes failing to read Gestede's flick ons.

Reminds me of best set pieces under Howard Kendall. Corner sent to Faz on near post, headed on and goal every time.

The whole thing has been nonsensical.

Waggott said the other week ‘we want to give our team an advantage so they are going upstairs’ (not sure I agree personally, just makes Ewood seem like a morgue, but fine).

However he added a caveat, if he thinks they are bringing more than 2k they are downstairs, anything less upstairs. Surely an away following of 2/3k is much more likely to aid the opposition in terms of vocal support than 500? So shouldn’t it be the other way round?

Though perhaps he’s finally worked it out, ergo Boro upstairs.

Finally worked it out? Doesn't a lifetime in football tell anyone that?

In 40 years watching Rovers, the best atmospheres home and away have been those with plenty of home and away fans close to the pitch.

All this mucking about closing stands is losing home fans and moving away fans must be about money because both are doing nowt for atmosphere.
