  1. Well here is a story that might just suggest that FFP just doesn't work. http://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/apr/11/leicester-city-finances-football-league-financial-fair-play-investigation
  2. Have you use the word harp there to keep the lager theme on this thread going?
  3. Junior Hoilettt on £40k per week. I thought he was just about to sign his new contract for us, before that offer came along! Surely we didn't have someone telling the fans lies did we?
  4. Excellent, sounds like a great story and I would have loeved to have seen it.
  5. Someone lese has mentioned that. Is it true and what happened exactly?
  6. Yes he did and it is a shame he didn't make it back, as he would have been welcomed with open arms. I don't remember him coming back as an opponent either, as I am sure he would have been given an warm welcome back.
  7. Quite correct and just emphasises what he genuinely thought of the club.
  8. Not only was Duff a great player, but I also consider him to have been loyal to the club with what he did. The season before he was sold to Chelsea, he was out of contract and therefore, he could have refused to sign a contract and walked for nothing as a Bosman. He didn't do that to us, as he signed a new contract, that did have a clause in it, which I consider to be fair enough. He was quality and could have made millions, had he not signed that contract. Sure enough Chelsea met the release clause and came knocking and off he went for £17 million. Before he left Duff had a hand written letter published in the Telegraph, where he thanked the club and the fans personally for what they had done for him. In the 40 plus years, I have supported the club, I have never known another player do that and for me, that just speaks volumes. A quality player and a quality individual, who will be forever remembered at Ewood.

    Howard Kendall

I remember being around 14 years old when Howard arrived at Ewood as a rookie player manager. I don't think I had ever even heard the term player manger back then. The first game I recall him managing and playing in, was a home game in the League cup first round against Bury. He scored an absolute screamer from about 40 yards and became an instant fans favourite. I also remember him bringing in Jim Arnold from None League Stafford Rangers, who proved to be a real astute signing and followed Howard to Everton. I think Mick Heaton also went to Everton, if my memory serves me correctly. The other think I recall is Crystal Palace trying to poach him and he turned them down. A banner saying thanks for staying Howard was unfurled at the next home game. As you would expect, he left for Everton when theY approached us for his services, where he went on to become their best ever manager. I will never forget him turning Rovers fortunes around though and was certainly up there with the best we have had at Ewood. RIP Howard you will never be forgotten by BRFC.
  10. Yes I heard it break on SSN. Sorry I didn't know how to resurrect the previous thread. Probably no need to start a new one!
  11. It looks like criminal proceedings are just about to get underway against Sepp Blatter. There is plenty of mention about TV rights being allocated illegally allegedly and that may well point to certain company in Switzerland and possibly even a super agent. In the words of Kevin Keegan in a now famous rant "I would love it" if this is the beginning of the end!
