I also remember the promotion team under Souness having Duff, Dunn and Johnson who had come through and were shining, Jansen was signed from Palace as a young man the year or so before and ripping it up in that league, think we had Tiny Taylor at the back too.  Added to that was the experience of Hignett, Short, Bjornbye, Hughes and Flitcroft.  That was an awesome team for that division, only betterred by a very good Fulham side.

That team would walk this division today, great mixture of very talented youths from the system and very good, experienced players.

Berkovic was the final piece of the jigsaw. Always wondered why we didn't get him in permanently, but then i'm not going to complain as we bought Tugay instead.

What a plonker he is 😀

He brought on 4 subs at the same time on the 62nd minute i believe. 3 of those subs were defensive subs. So essentially, he changed the majority of his defense. How he cannot see that him doing that might have caused it to 'completely flip' and is instead blaming the players, is beyond me.

Enjoying reading the Swans forums last couple of days. Nothing against them - just funny. They already have the:

9 games without a win thread

Worst run in 23 years thread

What manager should we get to replace Russel Martin thread

  3. I think Swansea fans fed up with him, as would I. he has had this pretty football tag wherever he goes, but when has it worked? You cannot implement that style unless you have millions to spend on the players capable of it. Luckily JDT knew how to combat it and the team played to the plan almost perfectly. Does he expect other teams to just play how he wants them to?

We set the blueprint and they will struggle now.

If we held onto him until January and were 2nd in the table (again) though, surely it'd be worth keeping him and risk losing him for nothing in pursuit of the ultimate prize?

For me it's actually a no brainer we keep him until January and see where we are. If we're not likely to go up or down then sell. There'll be a lot of desperate Clubs by then and I can't see any situation in which we don't at least get money back.

yeah like we did with Rothwell

Football is a business at the end of the day. Time you accept this.

You can disagree on whether club owners should be setting philosophy or style of play but more and more clubs are employing sporting director and he will set out how the football side the club will be run with a plan for short term, medium term and long term. We moved to this Director of Football and head coach structure and so far so good. Jon Dahl Tomasson fitted the type of head coach we wanted and he was appointed

Businesses make money Chaddy. Do we make money? Do many football clubs make money?
