Odd way of dealing with it really. You'd think if they were likely signings the last thing the manager would be doing is telling the press that those guys aren't at the top of the list.

I'd be surprised if either came here now, so lets hope Mowbray has some better alternatives on the way.

I also find it strange that Mowbray refers to experience and game time in the Championship as being an important factor in his recruitment and yet the 3 he has brought in are all young and inexperienced. Rothwell has no Championship experience (or negligible), Palmer about 40 games and Davenport less than 20.

And this is maybe why TM wants experience. Managed to buy two young players who could become future good players and will probably not be first eleven picks but will gradually start knocking on the door as the season progresses  and  available at the right price now to nurture. Palmer has more experience plus the England youth call ups and will probably hold his own in The Championship . Now TM wants established Championship players to become established "First team eleveners" to  round the squad off.Obviously thinks Arma and Chapman wont or cant do that at Championship level and we ve enough of those players onboard not to risk a couple  more.

Be very interesting to see who hes got lined up ..

Those words will definitely make Chapman and Armstrong feel wanted and coveted by the manager If we do end up going for them.

Not sure telling the world that they are down the list of targets is the best idea to be honest

Or hes quietly confident of getting in the targets  he wants

Young lad who clearly has talent.  Type who can get round the back of teams.  Seemed to integrate well with the rest of the players.  Only going to improve but doubt over an injury and so was likely within our budget.

Who else do we have on our bench who can change a game?

Gone on to have a good pre season and looks on verge of Boro bench at least.  Missed the boat IMO.

No doubt the lad has some talent but two injuries ..a step up in division after only a handful of minutes in League one makes it a bit of a risk IMO.

And surely we want someone starting the game on the wing not coming on from bench week in week out ?

The 'big' signing has been referred to for the last week or so in Sharpe's stories in the paper. That's the one that 'might' eclipse the Dack fee of last summer. So I suppose big if you're accustomed to a couple of hundred grand signings and loans but not big by Championship standards.

i thought he meant "big "(relatively speaking) as being 6 foot 7 ..lol

You're forgetting about last season's big name signing - Whittingham.  As a manager you live or die by your signings and Mowbray has got as many wrong as he has got right.

Live or die by your signings ? i always thought a manager lived or died by actual results. And as he got the results right last season with the players he brought in and gained promotion  then hes in credit with me ..at the moment.

Poor player  but before Christmas he did ok and scored a few goals. After Christmas Armstrong took over and scored even more.

So who's going to be scoring them now?

Thats the problem Matty but this is regarding Antonsson ..very very few rated him . Lets not suddenly make out he was ace !

Apart from his goals Antonnson contributed very little.

Correct ..for some now suddenly to start singing his praises and making out he was an integral part of the team  is beyond belief after the pasting he took on here in the second half of the season. The number of times this messageboard went into meltdown as the team was announced on here with Antonsson in it   was unreal.

Oh dear, unleaded's info has had the "everything is under control" brigade scurrying for cover this afternoon.

It doesn't really matter whether the manager turned down a bigger budget or whether he wants to "build slowly" imo. Either approach is crackers. TM should be trying to squeeze every last penny out of the owners to invest in the squad and improve the quality of the playing staff.

Spending money is not the problem, if It's spent wisely it will always result in a healthy return on investment. It's spending it BADLY on ageing bell ends like Danny Murphy That's the problem.

If TM and that so called "Head of recruitment" (That's a laugh) are doing their jobs properly that shouldn't happen.

AGAIN until the window shuts we wont know ..infact probably not know the full truth even then.

If Unleaded is privy to such info regarding TM turning transfer money away then im sure hes privy to what players if any we are targeting. This info is more important at the moment than any.

    Unleaded ..?
