It's not that sad in my case I can't be on my phone at work and do 6:30-18:30.Had a couple of days holiday left in my allocation left so took it today as the manager led me to believe we would be signing players on a permanent so I expected us to be busy, more fool me

You should never believe anything your Works Manager tells you Islander ..

One problem this squad is not good enough to finish 14th . Its a squad that is barley any better than the squad that struggled to get out of League 1. A relegation battle looms unless something happens in the next 2.5 hours.

    Good grief ...96 points 82 goals ..??

Now that’s a sign of good or at least positive recruitment.

Let’s see if our side already being well gelled gives us an advantage. Or if there is a difference in quality.

The thing is we re fielding a side that constantly won ,players who know each other and got a winning mentality.

Ipswich havent ..and if we d have finished in the lower half of the Championship like Ipswich im sure we d have made changes.

Lets see how strong or weak we are before making wholesale changes.

Good signing if it goes through. Fairly reasonable price wise at £1.75m plus add ons.

Not sure why this couldn't have been done a month or two ago given that we were aware of the player and we're paying exactly what Newcastle were reported to be asking for him earlier in the summer.

I suspect we've had to have a complete rethink a couple of weeks or so ago after drawing a complete blank everywhere.

Or maybe Newcastle wanted the whole lot up front earlier in the summer and have now been backed into a corner with no takers with  the window shutting and have  accepted  a new deal ?

Just as a pointer on the argument that we needed the signings in early to hit the ground running; I'm not convinced, whoever we sign, that the line-up against Ipswich will contain of any new recruits. Perhaps one. I think Mowbray wants to phase the new players in slowly. Rightly or wrongly. Off the back of a successful promotion season, I don't think he wants to change it too much. Try and reward the lads who got us here. Ingratiating too many new players can have the opposite effect. Coming off a season of struggle, it may work better.

I'm not suggesting this is preferable, or dumbing down any expectations. I just don't think it's the mitigated disaster that some seem to think.

    Wise words ..

I think the lad is a good player and he's an excellent finisher but like every player he has his flaws. He's one of the best young strikers out there but he not the sort who " leads the line ". He plays best off the shoulder of a player like Graham who can play him in. I don't think he's a winger , certainly at the higher level we find our selves at now.

Are we going to play two up front ? Putting him out wide on one wing and Palmer on another looks ok on paper but may not work out so well on grass.

All will be revealed ..but if true its a major step forward.
