Many loose and unnecessary passes + weak as piss unorganised defending against basics = the whole issue I have with JDTs “journey”.

The end. I hope I have to eat these words ASAP.

That’s not the fault of “playing it out from the back”. You seem to have taken a throwaway interview comment about “only increasing value” a little literally too.

But why does that increase value? Because more clubs want players who can do that. Why do they want players who can do that? Because statistically keeping the ball and building from the back leads to retaining possession and better results than getting the ball forwards at the very first opportunity. It isn’t some world football conspiracy against Tony Pulis.

We didn’t play possession for possession sake like a Swansea imo (and like we tried for one weird TM season), and in my opinion we improved and started moving the ball crisply and with confidence. I think the team is going places, mainly because of good coaching.

If we carry on in that vein, I don’t think you’ll be “bored”, but try and stop yourself booing if we’re patient in the build up and do remember the good points/moves/goals created and not just the (inevitable) odd mistake.

Islander - just look at the very last competitive game we played. We had to come back from a deficit caused by our ridiculously bad decision making with the ball in our own half.

All caused by playing out from the back.

    Was it?

I remember not dealing with a long throw, not defending a hoof forward, and a loose pass from midfield.

  3. You have two decent defenders, one of them is exceptional at last minute tackles but passes the ball straight to the opposition midfield or plays a teammate into trouble 30% more than the other. Those last minute tackles do save a lot of goals though.

    Who you picking?

A stretched analogy yeah but it’s funny how people act so obtuse as if distribution doesn’t matter.

I’m fairly happy with either, but Kaminski was poor for a of last season, throwing in a few Pears would’ve been crucified for - and if he was injured he shouldn’t have been playing. Flip side is, TK would’ve saved the winning goal in the FA Cup semi.

    DECISIONS DECISIONS

  4. Consensus seems to be that Chansiri must have given him a paltry budget to rebuild their ageing squad coupled with unrealistic expectations so he's walked.

40 odd days out from the start of the season, no manager or coaching staff, no head of recruitment (left last week for Blackpool), and only 14 senior (league one level) pros.

They'll do well to stay up this year imo.

Never know though, the owner might have something up his sleeve. Recent history makes this doubtful, however.

  6. Season ticket prices would've been bumped up even further if we got promoted? With that windfall I would have expected them to be subsidised! Ass-backward strategy imo. We've got 20,000 seat to fill, a new generation of fans to engage. So short sighted that it almost seems cynical.

Also, how many female toilets actually are there? What kind of run rate would sanitary products experience? To imply that we can't offer that because it's potentially cost prohibitive is a bit dubious.

Two years left on TK’s deal, so this summer is the last chance for a decent fee for him, presumably stil on substantially bigger wages than AP… think we all know how this ends.

Usually we'd just let him leave for nothing, so that's an improvement.

Kaminski is a good keeper that can command a fee, but he's certainly got better in some eyes while he's been out. Can't imagine wazzing in a season ticket if he was sold. Maybe a bit of an overreaction there.

We got all this with Danny Graham too, thought they were going to retire his shirt number at one point - now I liked DG, but ‘club legend’, he ain’t.

Suppose it shows how far we’ve fallen this past decade…

There'll be lads and lasses in their teens and 20s that follow Rovers where Graham and Diaz are amongst the best players they've ever seen represent us. Give them their moment, it's all good "engagement".

Wish Ben all the best & hope he does well in Spain, it's a cracking story and on his day he was great for us.

You know how we have all these statistical measures like expected goals now? I’m convinced that if you had a way of measuring supporter happiness whereby you got a lot of points for things like coming from behind to win, beating your rivals, scoring a late winner and lost points for the opposite then we would be lower down than most teams on that measure in the last ten years. I can’t complain too much though as we had a much better time than most fans in the nineties and noughties

Second half certainly, until they scored, but I’m a hopeless optimist and forget we couldn’t finish us dinner.

Just to be clear you watched tonight and thought we defended better than they did and had more attacking threat than they did?

They might have defended better, because they had to. We didn’t have to because they had little attacking threat. We had more.

    So yes and no.

Anyone who thinks "the team progressed massively since the turn of the year" is taking absolute rubbish and clearly have no clue what they are talking about. We've gone from 3rd in the league to 8th in that time period. What absolute nonsense and embarrassing lack of knowledge. It's there in black and white but logic seems to be completely absent these days for some.

That’s absolutely right. If you ignore the actual football matches.
