Exactly. Why not indeed?
Even more galling that one of our own promising young lads (Wharton) has been loaned out to potentially make way for a joker like Rodwell.
Guess we Didn't learn much from the experience of bringing in Wes Brown on loan.
Rodwell is 27, Brown was what, mid 30"s?

I get what you're saying but if we are signing Rodwell with the aim of converting him into a centre back, i'd be even more disappointed in his signing.
Why not just sign a centre back instead of this utter wastrel?
You're not converting him into a centre back. It's not like he hasn't played there before.

As a kid. Not recently.
Still believe that's TM"s thinking. Not going to get in as defensive midfield especially if Reed comes in and Davenport fit, along with Evans, Small wood etc. Saves on a fee for centre half as well

Rodwell at centre half?
Sure, played there many times

Pretty sure that Rodwell would be seen more as the centre half cover than as a midfield option.

Well I'm assuming things as we have been scraping around signing the likes of Nathan delfonso last time we were in this division. We are still owned by venkys and can you trust them to provide a good budget or even a consistent train of thought?
Maybe, just maybe, like us, Venkys trust Mowbray. Thats why they are releasing funds. Would you trust Coyle et al with that amount of money?

As a matter of interest, can anyone explain the repercussions of ffp on the club if the money being mentioned is actually spent? Will it result in another embargo?

As I mentioned in a previous post, I think last night proved that we can play Armstrong up front on his own and don't necessarily need a 'Graham' type target man to get the best out of the team. Playing a smaller front man allows for a more fluid attacking style and relys on Armstrongs movement. I know it was only Carlisle but it did prove we have other options. Having said that, would still like to see a target man arrive!

Let's not fool ourselves, this is a right old mess. Do you know any dingle fans ? I do and I'm not looking forward to the next time I meet them.
Yeh, like they've had a great window

Maddison is available for 2.5 million. You can't tell me there aren't other players of quality that would improve us undoubtedly out there that would be willing to come?
Edwards cost Ipswich a million quid, he would have added something
The Maddison story is interesting. Clearly there is something in his character perhaps putting sides off.

Seriously? It's either the school holidays or a dingle in disguise
My guess is the latter

Where's your evidence there was money? Coming from the mouths of people trying to sell season tickets?
No, coming from the 2 clubs concerned

At least we know where we stand now and can refocus on the important goal.. Venkys out.
I'm no venkys fan but how is it their fault the money they made available hasn't been spent? Suppose they identified the targets as well

No, but he isn't the same kind of player as Graham and he certainly won't hold the ball up for the likes of Dack like Graham does. Graham's ability to hold the ball up is integral to the way we play.
So maybe that will help produce a more attractive style of football, not having to play up to Graham so much. A front 4 of Armstrong, with benno, dack and palmer behind sounds pretty decent to me. Much more mobile
-
LOL.
We have one good Championship quality striker (Graham). It couldn't be more threadbare.
Have people forgotten Armstrongs favoured position is up front?
-
Not a striker but can play in the three behind. Agree striker still needed
-
Won't be Kean Bryan , not a striker and failed medical at Rangers. Diaz a good shout though.
-
Can play wide either side as well. May not get in the side though the way Samuel appears to be playing tonight!
-
See WBA being linked with the Leicester winger Harvey Barnes this morning. So may not be after Maddison after all
-
Interesting! Cheers

Has anyone actually asked Rich Sharpe if Rovers have an interest in Maddison? He is pretty quick to deny any Rovers' interest on linked players in the media (Harrison, Eisa, Edwards, etc), but haven't seen him deny the Maddison rumour?

I believe TM is now after 2 strikers because of the potentially serious injury to Samuel and that's why the Sylla interest has arisen. He is still after Brereton as well
Sylla's stats aren't that bad actually, averages 1 in 3 which is better than Samuel.Reminds me a bit of Lucas Joao in style
