  1. We're seriously lacking in quality across the pitch but nowhere more so than upfront.

As was said in thee Middlesbrough match thread, JDT chucked Telalovic on to show everyone he's not up to it and subsequently he's been nowhere near the side. Classic panic buy.

That said - apparently his birthday is 23rd December so maybe he'll get thrown on and bang in a hat-trick as we finally come from behind to win a game at Ewood...

Poor old Burnley, couldn't happen to a nicer mob. Sticking my neck out here and it's based on a hunch more than anything else but I expect Kompany to turn their fortunes around and I don't think they'll go down. There's some poor sides at the bottom of the Prem and there's always 1 or 2 teams that fall away from mid-table in the latter half of the season. Tin hat is on.....

Not a chance if he keeps trying to play in his arrogant, Pep inspired away. Easy to do when you've spent 20 times what most other teams in the Championship have, not so easy in the Premier League.

Best chance of staying up is potting him and bringing someone in who wants to grind it out, no chance old Vincent changes the style, far too big an ego

I work in Burnley so subject myself to numerous supporters on a daily basis unfortunately.

One season ticket holder didn't even bother with their last home game - preferring to take his kid to the park.

Sad state of affairs that the gulf between the Championship and Premier League is getting wider and wider.

Definitely half a chance this season that the top 3 in the Championship will be all of last seasons relegated clubs and the bottom 3 in the Premier League will be all 3 promoted clubs. Not sure if that's happened before or not.

I agree the gulf is as big as it has ever been and only going one way.

However, I maintain they've done themselves no favours. It's an astounding level of arrogance from Kompany to think they can play the same way as they did last year given the overall quality of the league. Massive level of hubris on the back of buying their way out the league last year.

Everybody is entitled to an opinion but most fans as i have already stated agree both teams have bigger rivalries but i would suggest your probably in the minority and that clearly even by reading this forum there is clear evidence that a number of your supporters see this as a rivalry and a game they would like to win.  Although i would agree that most supporters want to to win every  game and it doesn't matter where the team is from!

Yes - obviously just want to see us win every game in an ideal world.

I'll illustrate my point - I think I know the outcome of every dingle game, key incidents, background etc since 2000/01.

Whereas all the games against Preston (Jansen and 2017 relegation season aside) blur into all the other games we've had in that time. Maybe I'm from the wrong part of Lancashire (I don't know any Preston fans personally), it just doesn't mean any more than any other Championship fixture to me.  As you say, I could be in the minority.

i think that's a fairly common thought process amongst all fans playing in a local derby and the derby is local even if both clubs have bigger local rivalries  going on against other more important enemies.

If i make ask you what you get excited about that would help me to understand your thought process..

Think the definition of a derby requires a rivalry, not just proximity. I don’t think about Preston from one game to the next. No different to playing Ipswich in my eyes.

In your scenario, he goes on loan to say a division two club where he is a success, what then. Do we just sell him to a club at that level ? The Rovers are not in a position to have "players for the future". We need players who can contribute here and now.

I'm not sure what you're proposing? Keep a player around the squad (he won't make an 18 when Gally/Ennis/Leonard are all fit) who isn't good enough at the moment? You might not think we're in a position to have one for the future but here we are.

So you want to see if Telalovic has it in him to score at a lower level. I want to see if he can score at our level.

He's quite clearly not a Championship caliber player at present. However that's not to say he never will be but I'd like to see if he can do it a higher level than crowd less friendly and/or German fourth division.

same with Telalovic... if he cant get mins now with all the strikers unavailable, hes never going to. Obviously doesn't look to impressive in training.

Absolutely loves a goal in a behind close doors friendly against L2 opposition though! Possibly about his level? If Gally/Ennis/Leonard can stay fit (obviously a ridiculously large if), reckon Telalovic needs a loan in January. Might be a bit harsh as he's a young lad in a new environment but we need to see if he has it in him.

Take it you've forgotten the Wigan Pathetic away fixture in which Pears was their MOM?

As I said, worst individual piece of goalkeeping I've sever seen. I stand by it.

None of the individual errors in that game were a patch on last nights shambles (again - he had two opportunities to come off his line to claim it before we even get to the debacle of the attempted save itself). That said Leo's overall performance last night was clearly better than Pears v Wigan. He bounced back from the error relatively well.
