Gallagher's deal ran out in 2023 and this new deal is not an extension of that but a new deal that lasts 2.5 years to summer 2024 with an optional one year extension according to Sharpe.

Unfortunately I think the Gallagher contract is a complete waste of money but not entirely due to the player. If Mowbray continues playing him in that right wing role what can we expect. At least play him in as a true centre forward and give him the opportunity. It is no coincidence our best run of form came when he wasnt in the squad and Mowbray was unable to tinker with him.

Huh I am completely baffled by Mowbray's comment about bringing in young strikers. Is that a misquote?

God maybe we can loan Gallagher to West Brom advertised as a quality forward.

With our transfer budget of two packets of crisps and a jam sandwich?

Hopefully some Prem team takes O'Brien from Huddersfield. Quality player and the man to watch out for when we play them

I know he was in the PFA Irish league team of the year, so seems to be the best right back you could get from that division. Sounds like a reasonable backup.

Wow Buckley is a turning into the key man , two assists tonight. Especially given he is playing in that odd false striker role. Questionable decision to pass rather than shoot but aside from that another great game

Through by the skin on our teeth We need to move on from Travis and Gallagher. They are being carried by the others players

Not to labour the point but Travis for me is the weak link. The play goes past him when Barnsley attack

Despite all the quality in our squad I do find Travis a passenger a lot of times, need him to match the quality of the other midfielders

Harness is a solid winger, good pace and delivery, with a very good eye for goal. Not as big as Gallagher so you couldn't use him as a target man and not really a true winger either. Makes him a good replacement for that right side striker/winger hybrid role. Out of contract at the end of the season so should be available on the cheaper side. As for Twine, bloody hell he looks some player. Great vision and passing as well as being very tidy dribbling with the ball and now adding goals as well. When I see him I think he would be the ideal Rothwell replacement. Not sure we could afford him as he only signed for MK Dons in the summer but if someone paid big for Brereton, we could spend a few mill to get him. Don't know as much about Scully aside from his stats.

Would love to get Marcus Harness to replace Gallagher on the right side winger/striker role and then maybe see what the situation with Scott Twine is as well.

Gallagher should be let go, when he came on against Birmingham he was clearly not at the same level. A bad player in a good squad. If the club is offering a new contract they are throwing good money after bad.

I 100% agree with this. I have no idea where the JRC is a better wing back / full back than Nyambe comes from. Sure Nyambe suffers from occasional tweaks but last season he played 36 games and this season 18 games from 23. Even when JRC is fully fit, which is rare, he is not shown anywhere near the defensive ability of Nyambe. I can't believe it when I see people saying we can replace Nyambe for £500k, he is one of the best fullbacks in the league.
