  1. And they have done in Europe as well winning 7 of the last 10 Champions Leagues between them. It not that La Liga is a weak league it is that they are the best two teams in the world with the best two players, do you really think it would be any different if they played in the premier league?
  2. I took Messi until the ancient age of 21 to score against an English club and when he did it was only in a Champions League Final, terrible that he clearly peaked late.
  3. Premier league defences a lot better? They certainly haven't shown that in Europe over the last few years.
  4. You obviously didn't see Barca this season as he had a distinct lack of world class team mates around him (Infact i'd say it was the worst Barca team for 10 years at least) and he still took them to a league and cup double losing only 1 league game all season.
  5. Would that be the same La Liga that produced the last 5 Champions League winners & 7 of the last 10 finalists. And that has also produced 4 of the last 5 Europa league winners.
  6. I can never understand why players take those stupid run ups.
  7. Can't agree with that Messi took a poor Barca side to a league and cup double this season losing only 1 game in the league all season. Without Messi this season Barca would have been struggling to get into the top 4. What I can't understand is why Dybala doesn't start for Argentina as he would ease the load on Messi as he can create chances from nothing whereas today you felt if it wasn't coming from Messi no one else would create something for Argentina. Dybala playing would also give Messi more space and allow him to player further forward at times he was much to deep today.
  8. The VAR farce has started.
  9. I saw Pele play & in my opinion not as good as Maradona. Infact I would say Pele is not the best Brazilian player of all time for me that would be Garrincha, 1962 is the first world cup I remember and his performance in that tournament is only equalled by Maradona in 1986.
  10. He'd be 6th on my list a world class player no doubt but slightly overrated by many
  11. They aren't attacking players and goal scorers like those 3 but Xavi & Iniesta at their peak were world class (Iniesta in fact still is) & as good anyone that I have ever seen in that central midfield position.
  12. No doubt about it for me Messi is the best player of his generation. And fifth on my personal all time list behind Maradona, Cruyff, Puskas & Garrincha.
  13. After 3 successive World Cup's that have been poor, the early signs are that this one is could be a classic.
  14. I do think Kilmarnock's home pitch is of a great advantage to them, which they would not be allowed to use in the football league.
  15. For a country with a population of 5 million I'd say Scottish football is actually of a good standard, is it as good as the English premiership of course its not but its not really comparable in terms of country size and finances. Celtic in my opinion would be comfortably top half in the English premiership now and that is without the extra money they would get from being in the premiership to strengthen with. Hibs, Aberdeen, Rangers & Hearts would all be competitive Championship sides. The rest are probably league 1/2 standard sides.
  16. Two Goals in 36 league games for Notts County in league 2, hope we are looking for better than him. He might have scored a few goals in Ireland but its not exactly a great league.
  17. Fair play to the lad one of my main complaints about him is that he is lazy so good to see him putting the hard yards in when he could be on a beach somewhere. Personally I think he is more suited to a wide position where he can use his main asset which is his pace. I think to play up top he lacks the composure in front of goal to be a natural goal scorer and that is something that you either have or you don't.
  18. I do think that Williams gets a bit of a harsh deal on here. Is he a world class marauding full back no but he is solid defensively & gets a few assists. However if we did get a good offer for him it would certainly be worth considering as we have a ready made replacement in Bell.
  19. If Fielding is cheap and coming as back up to Raya it seems like a sensible signing to me. He's a better keeper than Leutwiler & has experience of over 150 championship games worth of experience. We aren't going to get a better back up goal keeper than that unless we want to spend silly money on someone to start on the bench.
  20. Towell at Rotherham would be a good signing, central midfield is a key area for us to strengthen & I doubt Brighton would want much for him.
  21. To be fair on Caddis I don't think his fitness issues are his fault because even when he is not in the matchday squad he is out on the pitch working with one of the coaches. He does strike me as a good professional but for whatever reason he look well past his best, I was stunned when I saw he had just turned 30.
  22. The Fact that Mowbray played Bennett at full back when Nyambe was injured tells you what Mowbray's think about Caddis as cover & even then he couldn't get on the bench most of the time.
  23. I will be interested to see what formation we play next season as I think that Mowbray favour a 5-3-2 and on paper that should suit the players we have however whenever we played it last season (with the exception of Portsmouth away in the second half) we were poor and looked much better playing 4-2-3-1. For the coming season I think we need 7-8 new players, as we have lost 4 loanees from last season and we need to strengthen other areas where some current players aren't up to Championship standard. In defence we need cover/a challenger for Nyambe at right back as Caddis is clearly not up to scratch and I prefer Bennett further up the pitch. At left back we are fine although i hope to see more from Bell this season as he is clearly a decent player for his peers to vote him in team of the season. At centre back I would like an extra body brought in as I am not convinced by Williams as a centre half & am a bit worried if Downing will make the step up. I'd like to see us bring in a good old fashioned big lump of a centre half because if Lenihan doesn't play I think we are a bit soft in defence. Centre of midfield is one of the key areas for us to strengthen in my opinion. I would play one of Smallwood and Evans but not both together as they a to similar & I'd like someone a bit more dynamic alongside them Camps from Rochdale would be my choice or Nolan at Shrewsbury if they don't go up. Also I'd like to see Travis given more game time this year as when I have seen him play he looks a very good footballer. As for Gladwin & Whittingham not sure that either would make the step up but I may keep one of them as 5/6th choice in midfield and let the other go. In attack I agreed with Mowbray about Payne that he is not a starter but is very effective as a sub when teams are tiring but if Payne was not keen on that role then I would try to get Oztumer from Walsall not only would he be cover for Dack but you could also play him wide on the right coming inside on his tremendous left foot or you could even play him up front as Walsall did at their place against us. The wide areas are another key area that we need to strengthen at the moment we only have Bennett & Samuel, who is think we some hard work and determination could be a decent winger but he is defiantly not a striker. Say Conway signs I still think we need one more winger and that for me would be Gwion Edwards who was one the best players I saw against us this season. I would not bring Chapman back as I would be very worried Signing a young lads who has just had 2 long term hamstring injuries who's main asset was pace. Up front I'd like to see Armstrong back as he brings pace something which we severely lack. I hope Graham as i think he can have a role of the bench and away from roughing defences up and holding the ball up. I think that we would still need one more striker with Graham as Graham struggles to do the full 90. That would leave us with a squad of. Raya, Leutwiler Nyambe, New RB, Downing, Mulgrew, Lenihan, New CB, Williams, Bell Smallwood, Evans, Travis, Camps/Nolan, Whittingham/Gladwin Dack, Oztumer, Bennett, Conway, Samuel, Edwards Armstrong, Graham, New Striker
