I've not said it was Brereton's fault yesterday (although I think he's rubbish but I am not blaming him for yesterday). All I say is look at the stats when Graham has been taken off we've dropped a number of points and haven't scored a goal.

Off the top of my head

    Ipswich 2-1 up drew 2-2

Bristol City 2-1 down lost 4-1

    Sheffield United 0-0 Lost 2-0

    Swansea 1-0 up lost 3-1

    Birmingham 2-0 up drew 2-2

That's 8 points dropped, 10 goals conceded and 0 goals scored. Do you think that is purely coincidence?

Hard to discuss facts with someone who never played the game and fundamentally doesn’t understand it.

All players make mistakes. Raya made one and we were still winning 2-1.

Inviting the opposition to make you defend immaculately for the rest of the game will invariably bring out mistakes and concede goals. Best way to defend is with the ball up the other end of the park. Simple game. Too simple for the playstation generation.

No, the conversation wasn't solely about what we could have spent the money on. Some were saying that him coming on somehow changed the game. Did you not see those posts? Because out of everything that happened in the game, to say that is scapegoating to me. Yes he cost 7 million, so there will be scrutiny, but he was definitely not at fault for what happens today, as some suggested.

I agree, Danny Graham is a top class championship striker. We are lucky to have him.

Also agree about Rothwell and Palmer. I was expecting Rothwell to replace Conway today. I was disappointed when it was Armstrong. I don't know what Armstrong can do that Rothwell can't, apart from the odd finish I suppose, but I think as an all round player Rothwell is far more suited to that position.

    Actually that is wrong pal

The convo is not about Brereton coming on. It is about Graham going off.

As soon as it happens we are usually fucked.

Lenihan is beginning to concern me a bit. Maybe Downing should have been allowed continue at centre half today, he was doing well. I was less nervous with him there. I suppose he is a natural center half whereas Mulgrew def isn't and you could argue Lenihan isn't either. We seem calmer with him and Mulgrew together. Lenihan plays like he gets very nervous at times, panicky even.

    Agree

When the lad starts and completes x amount of games only then will i compare him to Chris Brown

He really must be poor if he doesn’t even compare to Chris Brown.

Joking aside, nobody is blaming Brereton.

More pointing out how we fall apart repeatedly (in fact predictably) when Graham goes off. Today BB came on for Danny to play up top which means doing the same job / type of work. He was either poorly instructed or he was just poor at it. Never got close to winning any balls. We ended up defending which we are crap at and it was 2-2 from a comfortable 2-0 before Graham went off.

It was after Graham went off we fell apart.

    AGAIN

Been saying it for months. He must be kept on the pitch or we have nobody else who can win balls up top and get us playing in their half. Ball just ends up constantly in our half with everyone getting sucked deep. It happens time and time and time again.

Brereton looked like a lost schoolboy when he came on.

If Cryer had spoken out against the Venkyscum he would have got banned but that didn’t happen because the LT are club lapdogs.

Fair play to the Fella for behaving like a journalist.

The fans need to know what is happening at their proud clubs, not just what their incompetent owners want them to know.

That would be the club investing in young exciting talent and letting the ‘product’ sell itself.

Maybe ‘dig’ is the wrong word but it’s certainly trying to guilt fans, particularly lapsed season ticket holders, into returning. It’s not the first time they’ve done it either. They should try to encourage fans to feel they are “missing out” by not being here rather that “not being loyal or committed enough”. Marketing psychology 101 stuff but it shows how out of touch Waggott is with the fanbase that he chooses this line with Blackburners.

“Get your season tickets, back the lads, or you’re not a real fan” - actually that could have been written by...

Dig was the correct word Stuart

Classless stunt which will have the opposite effect.

    No to both.

It's my daughters birthday the day before so otherwise occupied.

Even if I'd gone to that I wouldn't be buying a half ST though, for the reasons I gave in the survey.

I've missed literally 2 away this season, won't be going Leeds but will be at most others in the foreseeable.

    According to Steve Waggot

You are not a proper fan

    No comittment.

  9. Venkys return

They get full barrels from me... but no hate (life is too short and they are insignificant)...  they deserve it because they completely dismantled what Jack built for you, me, him, her.

Worst thing... they reopen the wounds between the deluded “fans” and eyes wide open “fans”

BUT... it is an essential step in the healing process.

come back. Take the shit. and then lets all reunite behind OUR team

In some ways we are lucky that the Venkys didn’t walk away and leave the club in administration. As it is, they are still putting millions into BRFC to keep us going. Surely that alone should mean they are extended some degree of courtesy when a family member visits the club. Personal insults will never get us anywhere in the long road to a better relationship going forward, and no, I’m not an apologist for the Rao family.

    Disagree pal

I would say we are unlucky

Another couple of ideas, might be able to attract some NEARLY out of contract options at cb:

    Derdyk Boyata, 28, Celtic.

    Timm Klose, 30, Norwich.

    Unrealistic imo but:

Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, Vincent Kompany, Gary Cahill, Martin Caceres, Diego Godin, and several other notables are out of contract next summer...

    Gary Cahill

    Good shout Mike.

    Far from unrealistic imo

    Ronaldinho was unrealistic.

  12. great game today.

THAT IS WHY YOU KEEP GRAHAM ON THE PITCH.

Played much more like 4-4-2 with Dack playing up top with Graham. This also made the subs much more straight forward. Like for like swaps (albeit for 8 minutes) players playing in their proper positions.

Conway rightly taking plaudits today as he was excellent throughout. A winger on the wing ! Well Done to him and deserves to start the next game.

Reed was all over the place. We need to sign that lad permanently at all costs. Energy from the first minute to the last.

Great to see Travis getting on and he needs to be coming on from the bench regularly now.

Downing played well as did Nyambe.

Please lets hope Tony learned some lessons today and keeps this going now rather than making 5 changes for the next game.

Against Bristol City, we were 2-1 down when Graham went off, and went on to collapse by losing 4-1.

Against Swansea City, we were 1-0 up when Graham went off, and went on to collapse by losing 3-1.

Against Preston North End, Graham didn't start, and we collapsed within 10 minutes. When Graham came on at half-time, his first-touch (I think) gave a us a goal, and we were at least performing better than in the first half.

There's a pattern to the team when Graham plays; we compete evenly as a minimum, and we certainly don't implode. I'd put this down to Graham's hold-up play; it simply takes pressure off the rest of the team and makes us a solid outfit.

The question is whether or not Brereton has shown that he can play in that lone striker role. I'm not convinced that he can, so I'm not averse to having him play in the wide right position if it means he gets game time, and I think he's done OK there so far in his cameos.

completely agree and it is blindingly obvious Graham must be on the pitch or we have nothing up top whatsoever.

I cringe every time “the genius” takes him off... here we go again.

Get Brereton up top with him and play 4-4-2 (please).

Going to avoid the Waggott Tax today and buy one of those Ginger Ninja badges. COYB
