never said that they don't do special offers tho. so firstly gets your facts right and read what I posted.

I posted the price it would cost on the nights I would go. THAT IS WHAT I POSTED!!!

I don't see the problem taking kids to night games as most kids are awake to past kick off and full time whistle.

@Biz posted the special offers we offer and different schemes the other day so I am not going over old ground again

Its only the Rovers who dont do offers to attract customers.

Agree kids should go to night games unless parents are over protective. Used to love night games then walking home to Darwen via the chippy with my Dad.

Stay up late watching Rovers plus bag of chips was more important than worrying about getting up for school. Memories !

A lad I went to school with (Rovers fan) and his Dad (Scouser, So Liverpool fan)

both season ticket holders at Stanley this season. Seen a few other Rovers going to watch Stanley this season. Makes me cringe a bit tbh if they’re watching them instead of Rovers. If Rovers have no game it’s fair enough like.

    Question is “why?”

    Waggott is probably oblivious

I am with you on the point, yet "in the good old days", if the pies ran out, they did! So what, we are there for the game? Is Waggott working for our pie suppliers? Agree, bums on seats!!

    AGREED 1 million percent.

If the pies ran out... or my fav pie ran out.... so what.

bums on seats and pies sold out every week = no waste

It’s hard to argue with majority of key decisions taken in the last twelve months. That doesn’t mean they’ve fixed their cock ups. Whilst they continue to hire decent people and invest in the team - it becomes less of deterrent to lapsed fans or more casual to return.

The price and surcharge are taking up that mantle.

On the lake of tranquility, maybe so.

But that doesn’t mean attendances will increase.

That will involve reaching out to all those who are pissed off with a variety of issues which in truth are easily solved if the club has the will. It is entirely possible to get 18K back in the Champ on a regular basis.

You know as well as I do. The only way these attendances will return is success on the pitch. When are we going to stop pretending anything else is as important?

So your big idea to increase attendances is getting to the PL and everything else is a waste of time, effort and oxymoronic.

Until then you prefer attendances to stay the same.

    Truely inspirational.

Biz - Not sure we will see any offers over Christmas due to them not wanting to dilute half season ticket sales. I would love them to do that treble deal you mention or a ‘local promotion’ offer for West Brom, as it’s NYD and our only ‘festive’ fixture, probably a big away following, it would be a great occasion, but just don’t think they will.

I imagine we won’t see anything until 2019, which is most odd considering the Fans Forum were told one was planned for early season.

This is exactly what I think too, which will again point to them not prioritising increasing attendances. Although the December tickets have not been announced yet so we can only hope they have something planned.

The way you talk its like the surcharge is putting loads of people off which it is not. I walk past the ticket office about 2pm-2.15pm every Saturday home game and they are plenty of people queueing up there. Plus the figures we have that over 800 people are buying after 12pm deadline and is not a put off for many fans. Its 3 pounds which is not alot of money, you will come back and say it is for some people but not when you are buying a ticket at 30 pounds.

    Woosh

  8. Abolish surcharge for second half of season (compare data from ticket sales at end of season, publish, set next seasons policy accordingly)

Cash Turnstiles or at least Contactless Turnstiles (no staff required)

    Unreserved seating sections

Free or subsidised buses from nearby areas with priority in / out access

    Get the nearby carparks re-opened

Flexi ST options (10 game unreserved seating for example)

Reboot slogan locally - Fill Ewood - On our way back - Taking back the pride of Lancashire - Move over Burnley

Targetted advertising on new initiatives to the lapsed ST holders (I never get anything from them). To those who went to Oxford game. To those who show buying an odd ticket. To those who buy away tickets but not home.

Isn’t this the purpose of the much lauded database ?

2 or 3 game (or both) ticket bundles for Dec / Jan period !!!! on sale now !!!! buy 4 Xmas, includes free pie voucher if buy before date x.

post game, kids meet the players sessions - fiver

announcements on the scoreboard - tenner

Promotion Pledge for next season’s STs - and on sale EARLY

Xmas giveaway - spend 30 in the clubshop get a fiver off your next home ticket (costs them nothing to fill the empty seats but extra £££ spent in the shop plus matchday spends)

    They like a 5 minute Warning don’t they ?

What about random ticket push unexpected 24 hour offers ????

5 minute warning - Sheff Wed tickets buy 1 get second for 20 - next 24 hour only

5 minute warning - Bolton home tickets buy 1 child ticket get 1 free

5 minute warning - Waggotts giveaway - buy a ticket for Wigan home game get a 5er voucher off your next home ticket

5 minute warning - Operation Fill Ewood - Buy a ticket today and get a half price pie & a pint voucher

The only limitation is the imagination of the club !

or maybe I am missing the point ?

Putting up prices and expecting more fans is counter-intuitive. Putting up prices, expecting more fans and then moaning when it doesn't happen is plain stupid. Which brings us back to Waggott...

    Agreed !

How much were those fireworks ?

Did the money come from the owners or the attendance tax ?

I think I will take exception to none tax payers watching them for free just because its the opposite to the view of the sane majority. ?

I’m quite sure that this is exactly what I’m saying makes no sense.

“They want money but not fans.” It’s oxymoronic

Of course they want both but which of the 2 is their PRIORITY ?

Actions and inactions all point to the money.... not the fans.

Do you agree with the surcharge , yes or no ?

Do you want more fans to attend, yes or no ?

The fact is we don't have the demand required to fill the ground to generate revenue to compete at the top of the league we are in. Unlike last minute airlines, we are not a necessity like if you decide you want to use them last minute. Cinemas may do discounted tickets for advance bookings at non peak times but they certainly dont put their prices up in the last hour before the film starts.

Whether it's to save on staff costs or not have too many pies left over, the surcharge penalises casual fans who decide to come at the last minute in order to make the club a bit more money. All very good on a balance sheet but it doesn't promote brand loyalty or good will, something which they have lost a lot of over the last eight years.

Nothing further to add, yer honour

As others have said the club could offer, say, a ten match ticket which allowed entry to any 10 games over the season. That would allow fans to attend weekend home games (or most of them) while missing mid-week games they can't get to.

There are logistic problems with this suggestion, like which seats do you occupy but since the ground is never even nearly full, there's nothing that couldn't be solved.

As it is, someone who can't make mid-week games is more likely to not buy a season ticket at all. Then they look at individual games and the cost and maybe the surcharge and then maybe the weather forecast and think "stuff it!".

Then they get out of the habit.

Flexible and innovative thinking is required to coax fans back to Ewood and we are not getting any.

The attitude is "we've given you a good team, you're bloody ingrates for not turning up".

Much like, "we've taken your seat away from you, now find somewhere else".

They have a big empty stadium. Easy to have sections of unreserved seating. In the old days you got down early to secure your usual spot on the terrace. It was normal to see the same faces in the same places.

I have never once sat in the seat on my ticket. I just find an empty seat... there tends to be a few thousand of them.

Now wouldn’t it be great if there was some of that flexible and innovative thinking to fill some of them.

    This !

It's a football stealth tax to rinse a few extra pounds out of punters, nothing more nothing less although the opposites and gullibles as usual toe the club spin line about getting in the right amount of pies or an extra bod at the window !

    correct

If their PRIORITY was to increase attendances there would be no surcharge.

As well as a raft of other simple initiatives.

If their PRIORITY was purely £££££ then they would come up with daft ideas like a surcharge.

Fans want to increase attendances. The club sadly, do not.

You keep going on the surcharge but no idea to get fans back whilst I have suggested 3 ideas and you shot 2 of them down, can I ask why? Plus we have roughly 800 fans each time who buy tickets after 12pm so the surcharge isn't much of a factor surely you would agree.

The discussion is not about the 800 who attend and don’t care or realise about the surcharge.

It is about the 10 or 100 or 1000 who would attend if there was no surcharge.

There are many ideas on this thread from passionate ROVERS FANS many who are not going regularly or at all. Are the club taking note or just ignoring the issue ?

The Leeds game with early KO had a surcharge the whole day. I chose not to go because of it. If I was the only one then fair enough.

  15. Josh,

please can we have a poll ?

Do you want to increase attendances at Ewood ?

    • yes
    • no

debating ridiculous surcharges which may stop 1 additional fan or family attending, suggests either I have lost touch with sense and reality... or Biz and Chaddy are fake fans who just want to be “Mr Opposites”.

Firstly, you don't need any excuse - it's a free world.

However, if a ticket is normally £27 but £30 on the day it is a consideration to some people.

If the surcharge puts one person off then Rovers lose out by by £30 so it takes 10 other 'walk ons' paying an extra £3.00 to make up the difference.

It would be far preferable to get all 11 fans paying £27 in the ground and get (very nearly) the same income.

If it never puts anyone off and everyone is happy to pay the surcharge then  Rovers income is up slightly but not great for PR

    Agreed

    20,000 empty seats...

Thread is about increasing attendances which starts with 1 more, 2 more, etc fans.

Those arguing for the surcharge or attempting to justify it, clearly prefer attendances to remain the same. Strange POV

  17. As I have said before, this is really simple.

The club either want more to attend... or they don’t.

If they want to increase attendences, they (Waggott) would setup a task force to work on this specifically ( which could include a few fans, god forbid).

There is no silver bullet. They would write down all of the ideas. Many in this thread alone. Discuss them all. Action ALL of the good ones. Every idea worthy of 20 more in the ground is worth doing.

    Result - higher attendences.

If they don’t want higher attendences, they will do nothing.

    Result - nothing.

I think their true stance on this is pretty clear.

Did you not know you would be back from work by now (or in time to go to the game)? If you did you could have ordered a ticket before 12.

last week I got home early and got to the ticket office at 11:20

different each week depending where I have to go and how long the job takes. If I buy in advance I may not make the game at all.

Surcharge for walkons with half the stadium empty ?
