I thought a Davenport was one of the few players settling the ball in the first half. Why he went off at half i don get. Like Naymbe for Elliot, it made no sense. Was SG playing center back there for 5 min?

on another note I cannot stand how timid Douglass is going forward. Many times he has space in front of him. A good attacking defender would put the defense on their heels, but he always holds it up. We’re really quite boring in the attack. Rarely get to the byline and never play penetrating balls. Hell 1/2 the time we get it inside the box then look to play it backwards.

Agreed I thought Davenport was doing well. Downing though always impresses, which is worrying considering his age.

I think Douglas issue is, his specialty is crossing from deep. But we got no one that can head it, so kind of kills his best attribute. On the other side we got Nyambe., who can beat a man, but cant cross it.

Avoided this place during the poor form because I got tired of being one of the few contrary voices.

Call me an idiot (almost feel like one with how shit some of this has been) but I still am happy for him to stay.

    Reason?

The owners and pretty much every single thing since they came in.

The rebuild job TM has done -

The solidity, the stability, the focus on youth and sustainability, the integration of the academy, the INTEGRITY, and the squad that he has assembled (and PLEASE check our net spend I’m sick of hearing he’s had bucket loads of cash for our level)

We know that it is easily lost.

    It is easily thrown away.

Are there even any solid suggestions for a successor?

    I am with you mate.

There is no getting away from home poor we been, even winning in january I think we have looked way off.

Give Mowbray the season, he deserves it, and see where we end up. Pointless chopping it up now, wont get us to EPL all of a sudden.

If we are miles off end of season, then I couldn't argue trying someone new.

Our January results mean he will be here til the end of the season.

His last chance is Harwood-Bellis performing at centre-back, and Johnson and Holtby coming back this month, but they will need to do it despite Mowbray, not because of him.

He will still play Gally in defence or on the wing, and he will still try to play Davenport, so the players will have to play even better to nullify this managerial genius.....

I am a big fan of both Holtby and Johnson, but I dont think will change anything. But blow hot and cold. Like Rothwell, take away his couple individual goals of brilliance, hes not existent last few games.

Mowbray called him moody. He also referred to his work rate as not being good enough yet I've seen Elliott and BB not tracking back with their full back on many an occasion. Mowbray also refused to sign players with ripped jeans. I think the problem may be Mowbray in this instance.

    But he signed him twice?

I can’t see a place for Chapman in our match day squad personally.

If he was good, and had a good attitude, he would be in the team. To think any different isn’t crazy. Mowbray wants to win games and will pick the best players to do it, Chapman just doesn’t cut it and clearly doesn’t have the attitude for it.

And when I say attitude, take in to account every mile they run etc is tracked as stats, and they look at those stats for training and games, and maybe his numbers aren’t there.

But whatever, who cares, we don’t need him.

He looked fit and quick. Obviously hope he stays fit and thrives. One of those rare players who is a joy to watch. I hope he comes back. I just don't think he was a Mowbray type player/personality.

What makes you think he’s not a Mowbray player/personality?

Mowbray got him in on loan, he got injured and left. Mowbray chased him down again and signed him.

We don’t know what happens behind the scenes. What we do know is Mowbray signed him twice.

The problem clearly lies with Chapman. And since he come back not seen anything that makes me think he’s better then what we have.

But jeez he was pants today... I'm not sure we can afford such a passenger in too many games going forward. I was shouting at my PC screen, "Are you Buckley in disguise?" at one point 🙃

Travis is not a passenger!! Yes he wasn’t great today, but all of them have had bad games and will continue to do so.

Travis is a key player for us.

  7. Another 3 points and another clean sheet. Performance again not pleasing but I’ll take these wins over when we was playing well and losing earlier in season.

    Kaminski is superb.

Lenihan is back, and was superb. As was the Everton lad. Another good show from Douglas hope this carries on from last couple games.

As someone else said, not many teams can bring on Dack, Dolan, Gallagher and Holtby.

Behave yourself. Such direct comparisons do no favour to the credibility of the argument that the common consensus indicates, that Mowbray has taken us as far as he can.

If Mowbray goes he will do with the majoritys blessing and positive opinions of the overall job even if towards the end it went stale. Venting and hate? Not at all. Coyle and Kean? Totally insulting.

Well said. To compare Mowbray to them is ridiculous.

    Ok fair enough mate. 👍

Lousy today though eh? Mowbray masterstroke with the sub though....

Yeah, miserable to watch until last 10 minutes, as per usual for a home game it seems these days.

As it seems of late, it’s good we can bring subs on who can improve the side (like Holtby, Davenport) worrying thing is when these players start they don’t produce. (Not Davenport he was good his first start) But squad in general

Blessing in disguise that we cant get on Ewood, and watch this shite week in and week out...I dread to think how many season tickets will be sold in the summer...

Irrelevant from our performances. We sold 2k season tickets and another 2k at best watch online on day pass.

Our attendance will stay levels it is unless we go up.

Online fans who don’t watch the team yet jump on this message board and social media to demand change, sure that audience will continue to be here.

Change his name to Kean or Coyle with the comments he comes out with there would be absolute uproar.

You didn’t bother watching the game did you?

Back when you could go to games, there was always a real difference of opinion from on the stands to getting home and reading comments online.

  12. It’s interesting to compare the stats from our 2 games with Stoke as they were only 28 days apart.

We had 200 less passes today where as Stoke had similar to the away game, we had much less possession, much fewer shots, corners.

Apart from passes, everyone we was ahead on away, we was behind on today.

That away game, that we dominated, we got zero points. Today, we got 1.

    Strange game.

I'm really not a fan of Douglas but thought he had an okay game today. The new young lad from Everton was really solid at LCB so maybe that helped Douglas lot.

For me we significantly improved when Davenport and Holtby came on. They changed the game really as they could cover more grass and pass the ball better than Travis and Johnson. Brereton also meant the ball had somewhere to stick.

Johnson was so slow, Travis didn't look fit enough and when he got booked completely dropped out of the game. Dack similarly seemed to struggle. The whole diminutive front three got nothing out of Stoke.

I agree about Holtby much better when he came on, same with Brereton. That’s the most frustrating thing for me, we can’t get all our good players playing well at same time.

Holtby and Brereton been poor lately, rightfully dropped, then come on and impress.

    Happens to much for us.

This. Being a supporter is about wanting the best for your club. The best for Rovers right now and going forward, I think we can (almost) all agree, is not Mowbray.

If it was a choice between winning on Tuesday and on we plod, or lose and he’s guaranteed (that’s the key word there) to resign or be sacked, then it’d be a no-brainer. As I believe that could be the best for Rovers long term.

I’d have taken getting hammered 20 Premier League games in a row if it meant Kean would have been sacked. Unfortunately it was clear he was bulletproof. Bit like Mowbray appears to be now (he’s obviously nowhere near Kean and Coyle’s level, goes without saying, but best just make that clear...).

Would you really pay a tenner Tuesday night and watch hoping we lose?

  15. 4 minutes ago, RoversClitheroe said:Chaddy no idea how you can still back Mowbray genuinely don't get it.

I’d let him see the season out. 7 points off is nothing at this stage with 22 games left. It’s not like a new manager will come in and take us up this season. Is it possible? Yeh, but it’s also possible for Mowbray.

Let him finish season, if we aren’t in play offs, change it up. If we are, he’s achieved his target.

  16. That was a tough watch..again.

Branthwaite looked good, happy to have him here if he plays like that every week.

The rest of them though, just so poor and below their standards. Looked strong on paper, but returning players like Dack and Travis so off the pace.

We have no aerial threat, and that pitch it’s good enough for the way we want to play.

Seems to be a huge whole between our defence and Armstrong, really need a better way to link up.
