Recorded a track speed in training (100m I think) faster than Mbappe's best time. I don't think the whole of Europe was mentioned but maybe. Armstrong's speed is taken from a game.

Mbappe is clearly quick too though, wouldn't you agree? So I'm not sure what you're suggesting. That speed isn't the same as quality? I would agree. But my point is literally just that some people used to say Arma wasn't Premier League fast, and he quite blatantly is, which this backs up empirically.

Im with you on Armstrong, I was a big backer of his when he was on wing and people called for him to be dropped. His pace is a weapon, even when he was poor for us outside, just him being there made opposition think twice.

It’s almost ironic that, the style of football we are playing this season, he would be the missing piece. But the possession football we played last year, albeit he scored 29 goals, wasn’t as suited.

Or maybe im wrong cos that goal return is huge, but I feel the way we play now he would flourish.

The young talent we have contracted into next season are Wharton, Buckley, Dolan, Rankin Costello, Pickering, Edun and Carter. Some potentially useful players but im not sure how much excitement that crop gives me. Travis is the stand out and even he only has 18 months left and probably wouldnt generate a major fee.

Grim reading. Buckley has something, if it clicks with him he can be a good player.

Dolan clearly has something, he is playing very safe at moment and needs to back himself and unleash a bit.

Rest of those you mention, can’t see any of them breaking out as a first name on team sheet, Travis excluded obviously.

  3. Encouraging there is some kinda option to keep Brereton. Why Rich Sharpe can’t elaborate on what I don’t know. I’m just hoping Brereton relationship with Buckley and Dack is enough to keep him here. Unless he scores 20 plus goals this season, I can’t see where he goes that is better for him.

I spoke to Waggot at Barsnley, had no idea it was him until seeing his face this week from the interviews, missed opportunity to tell him what I think.

  4. Say we sold 10k tickets at £30 that would be £300,000.

If tickets were reduced to £20, we would need to sell and extra 5k to make the same money.

Does anyone think 5k fans would come over sake of it being £10 cheaper, I don’t think so.

I think lack of success, investment in team is the main issue. If we got promoted by some miracle, attendances would go up regardless if tickets were same price.

  5. Have we still not heard from the club about our abysmal transfer window?

I spoke to a guy who works for our club at a game this season and he said he told Waggot he wants Mowbray gone, and the response was we played good football start of season.

I don’t blame Mowbray for transfers, I heard it from Lowes agent we offered 1 million over 4 years for him. That’s not gonna be the managers doing. I agree with fans annoyed at team selections etc, but transfers is Waggot at co.

Take the stick out your ass, Lowe was 21 too at one time, and by 21 these days you should be well on your journey  In footballing terms. What’s with this board and the folk that take offence to every little criticism or concern. Snowflake culture to the max. For the record I was saying I am still on the fence with Buckley, how you got offended by that I do not know , waiting for it much

    Sorry he’s not Steven Gerrard.

Sounds like your issue is with the board, don’t bring a 21 yr old footballer into it.

Tony: “Before the window shuts I’m hoping we can add five or six more.”

I don't see in what world we, or pretty much anyone at our level, can get 5-6 players in 10 days, but....let's see?

I mean he’s explained it enough times.

He has no reason to lie, if he could have the players now he would. Why wouldn’t he?

West Brom will be favourites but in a home game in the Championship off the back of 7 points from 3 games, merely avoiding a thrashing is not the attitude to have. We should be confident of getting something, as hard as it will be.

Agreed, that’s what players should be thinking! I’m talking as a fan

  9. Had Rovers on the laptop and WBA on the tv tonight.

They score for fun. Sheff United only scored 20 goals last year and none so far this year.

In a way WBA play to our strengths, we are suited to an end to end open goal fest. Still expecting nothing from the game, anything draw and above would be a great result.

The key is to not get dicked.

    There's something in this

The departure of so many players has forced Mowbray to pick and stick with the limited number players that are left.

He still gets it wrong though. Dolan is not a centre forward and Gallagher needs to play in his natural position

You would be correct about Dolan, if our plan was to have Dolan cross it in box and Gallagher just try head it in. But that’s not the tactics, cos Dolan can’t cross and Gallagher can’t head it.

The front free works the way it’s meant to for what we have. Dolan worked wonders against Swansea, not against Millwall so Was subbed.

So again, our lack of players isn’t why we have started well. The players playing are Mowbray players, and although some fans wrote off all these players (including Armstrong) they are now at the age and stage where Mowbray wanted them for.

If only we had Chris Houghton aye! We would be in Premier League.

Ground out a good win 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Some really good performances from a number of players benefiting from a run of games, and fair play to Chapman who took his chance tonight.

As I’ve mentioned before I think in part the smaller squad has helped on two fronts:

    • Less squad rotation so players have settled into their respective roles
    • Less reliance on loan players who aren’t as invested in the club

A positive start to the season.

    Two potential hurdles:

    • TM might put Ayala and Lenihan upfront on Saturday.
    • WBA look very good.

I know it’s light hearted, but this forum would be more enjoyable with out the constant digs at Mowbray.

I was ready for him to go after last season, because with the squad we had the final position wasn’t good enough.

Bit give the man his credit when it’s due. He was ridiculed for saying we need our goals to come from elsewhere like our CB now Armstrong gone, and what happened tonight? They both scored.

Ayala his signing who is ridiculed because he’s from Boro, has been Superb first 3 games. It was frustrating he was out last season, and he’s prone to it, but if managed and kept fit is one of best defenders in league.

A surprise win, especially when it went 1-1. WBA look so good I don’t expect much from that Saturday but let’s give it a go!

I'll be keeping track of it, and posting the data from time to time, same as I have the last two seasons. Not at all surprised to see the pattern continue.

Interested to see the data. Because in my eyes, Swansea’s possession was all in their back line. And Millwall can have the ball all day long, only time i feared them was set pieces.
