But none of that is the reasons why we lost the Forest. It was cruel defection goal. We could have gone 4-4-2 and lost the game by 2 goals. who knows. Rest of it is speculating and guess work.

Most championship clubs don't play the Cardiff way. Watford was a solid defensive team from the games Ive seen before we played them and we created a number of chances against them.

You need to look at the Cardiff and Forest in isolation as 2 teams playing differently for me.

The current way of playing is right for our current squad of players. It is yielding results, performances and goals

Johnson gave the ball away that led to the cruel deflection.

What Brereton did for the side yesterday (and consistently in previous games this season) was brilliant. Even before their player was dismissed, they had no answer to his drive, ability to hold on to the ball, his awareness of team mates' positioning or his energy. The fact he kept it up for the full 90 minutes was part of the reason we were still looking hungry for goals until the final whistle - how many games have we seen in the past where Rovers sides have coasted  once they've got one or two goals up, only to be pegged back or even overwhelmed by hungrier opposition? I like this new Ben Brereton - he was unlucky not to score yesterday, and surely he will start potting goals at some point if this new improved version of the player we bought continues to shine.

His tracking back was incredible. BB was everywhere. He is the epitome of a team player.

Think the skewed view of this game needs to be reined in. I thought we played well but if we'd done what Watford did to us we'd be applauding a counter attacking masterclass.

5? What nonsense. We had 7 shots on target to their 4, and played them off the park in every department, apart from the scoreline.

    I can.

    Fans.

Bearing in mind this is a young fella who's played most of his better days at u19/20 level where he stood out as brilliant.

Of course he needs to get over that stage fright if he wants to really progress, but as it stands, its doing him wonders for him without the added pressure.

I can. He is physically far stronger and no longer s kid.

    For me it’s:

    Nyambe Lenihan Williams Dougless

                        Travis Holtby

    elliot.                  Dack.               Brereton

                              Arma

I think we would be exposed at the back with both JRC and Douglass against stronger sides. Also think Arma has earned the center forward role and Dack will be just fine playing off him.

really a good problem to have trying to leave a quality player out vs years past where we couldn’t find a quality player to put in

I think it's daft to change from the 433

And JRC should be one of the first names on the team sheet.

My thoughts entirely. He sort of had a freer role playing from the middle across to the left hand side and looked a different player to me, far more effective.

I thought today we were terrific, looking at the season as a whole I think we've been very inconsistent, exceptional in the three games we've won, very poor against Cardiff, Forest and Watford and good in the game against Bournemouth which we nevertheless managed to lose. Unfortunately you still only get three points for winning four or five nil so we'll have to cut the percentage of poor games right down if we're to challenge. Hopefully we can achieve that greater consistency if the manager continues to pick what most people would consider to be more or less the strongest line up and doesn't succumb to the temptation of starting the likes of Evans and Gallagher again, although personally I much prefer Nyambe to JRC at RB.

JRC is an incredible talent who has played in our best performances. Nyambe is athletic but limited.

It was great to see two complete fullbacks in operation today.

I never said that he is awful at one on ones, just hit and miss. Likewise, Rhodes scored a fair few headers, I wouldnt say he was good or top level in the air.

Its not a love in. I just appreciated that when Rhodes was here, he was as good as any striker in the league. If Armstrong scores with similar consistency and regularity then he can be too, his record in 2020 is very much putting him on the way.

Give it a rest about Rhodes. Gestede and King were better than him. He scored nothing else.

We defend from the front with pace and skill, Rhodes is the last person we should sign.

Swap Trybull and Holtby around and that's a good team.

Bit of a shame to drop Dolan again but a great option off the bench. Brereton deserves a start after a decent performance and goal against Watford.

Elliott did OK, nothing spectacular in his first game for us but I think he has a lot more to offer, so another chance for him to show what he can do would be good.

Douglas has to start and now Ayala is injured we have no option to play Lenihan and Williams, although I think Lenihan can consider himself fortunate there.

JRC is an interesting one in CM. Not sure he is a full back as such and I think we have better options on the wings than him, so that role might suit him a bit better.

Agree though I thought Elliot was excellent. Great touch, running and passing.

I think JRC is a runner, and what we need in midfield atm, without Rothwell and Travis.

JRC could also fill the gap when Nyambe rampages forward.

    JRC Lenihan Williams Douglas

           Holtby  Trybull Johnson

    Elliott     Armstrong   Brereton

What I might go for. Though I like the idea of this also:

    Kaminski

    Nyambe Lenihan Williams Douglas

    JRC Holby Trybull

    Elliot Armstrong Brereton

Don't be silly he'd still score more than anybody else if the formation suited but wouldn't fit how Mowbray wants to work now.

What i was pointing out quite clearly is we had Rhodes then replaced him with DG but now there is no out and out striker or target man in the squad. We need one.

Armstrong will get goals but last night highlighted the difference between someone like him or a Rhodes/Graham.

We play the Liverpool way where a pacy front 3 closing down. Rhodes is ok Ike Ian Rush; a player of the past.

Yep it's not boxing nobodies scoring points for passes connected.

What's happened last 2 games is a constant theme we can't see tight games out and we go behind we nearly always lose. These are the things that need ironing out and what the new possession based game was supposed to help with.

Plus we need a proper striker, Rhodes, Graham......

    Arma is not that man.

Rhodes sure as hell isn't that man.

Being the "better team" isn't all about how much possession, how many passes and how near you get to the opponents box.

    Fatal mistake thinking that.

There's two sides to every game of football. Scoring goals and keeping it out at the other end. Neither is more important or better than the other.

Mowbray thinks he is clever. He clearly thinks a lot about football, enjoys trying to emulate Klopp or be some sort of bargain bucket Guardiola but there's two sides to every coin. He isnt better or more clever than a manager that focuses first on defence and builds from there. It might look better particularly to the neutrals and those who attach importance to such things but it is actually meaningless. It is all about results

Already this season a familiar theme has emerged. So called good performances at Bournemouth, Newcastle, Watford yet nothing to show for it.

Pats on the back all round because the stats were impressive, loads of possession going nowhere, a few half chances, opposition fans and managers impressed as they collect their 3 points unscathed.

Nice guys finish last. I dont want plaudits from others I want us to be hated because then you know you are getting somewhere.

Having more shots on target is though; 7 to 4.

    Their keeper was inspired.

Quality teams like ours will eventually get their rewards. The Watford manager said we were the first proper test for his team and an excellent side.
