Gestede excelled at something, he wasnt perfect in general but he was outstanding at attacking the ball in the air and directing it. Gallagher isnt great at anything.
He is a tireless runner who gives everything for the team..

I’m starting to think that sone of the young lads are better filling out the squad than the late career guys we’ve had. Experience counts but developing youth can pay dividends. Why pay the Johnsons, Smallwoods, mulgrews of the world for a front row seat?
100 percent! We have cleared out a lot of dead wood. I think 3 good signings would be plenty; 4 if Ben goes. It's the fullback areas we are weakest.

Good to see a move made. Assuming Diaz is sold we will need an striker. We never replaced Armstrong and as well as Vale has played I’m not so confident he and Gally can shoulder the load. Another mid would be nice but I’d prefer our young players, Wharton, Garret over sone old bloke like Johnson. I think Carter is a good reserve but with Ayala history we need another center back. Just hate to have Carter not playing.
Pretty sure Carter and Wharton will play together on Saturday..And Adam Wharton in front of Trav in midfield will be good to see also.

I’d look at bringing another left back in as well, Pickering has been shocking for a while now. Saying that though, Edun has been very impressive in pre season, if we don’t bring another left back in I’d start Edun over Pickering every day of the week. Pickering has to be the slowest left back in the league.
Didn't seem like Edun was so good tonight. But yeah our two fullback areas are weak, unless the likes of Batty are given a chance..

Brittain would be a top signing if we can get it done. Him and Styles the standout players whenever I’ve seen them play,, and Brittain the most impressive of the lot. From what I’ve seen, flare and away better than Nyambe - Get it done,, plus Styles and Cb and we’re cooking!!
100 percent!

So, another day goes by. No incomings and no new Head of Recruitment, (and no sight / sound of Broughton).
I am not too concerned.
Like the idea of Adam Wharton in front of Trav and Buckley. And hopefully JRC and Edun can step up in the wingback roles.
Edun has looked very sharp in preseason. JRC had a lot of potential a year or two ago.
Think Wharton, Ayala and Carter should be a nice balance in a back 3.
Another Centre back is the priority.

Nixon names 8 clubs ... that's OTT even for the cretin.
An agent driven piece of click bait.
Better to keep him than take £10 million. As we will lose £2m plus from that anyway to Forest.
£15m minimum I say..

Celtics ressies them....played us off park.
Worrying times
Far from it.
Scored two. BBD ruled incorrectly offside and Gallagher showing great skill before the keeper making a smart save with his legs, off the top of my head. Celtic look a very good side, but their second goal was very lucky.

From what I saw he wasn't that good, Wharton has always looked a very good player. In fairness he was playing against some good players and was better than Pickering, but HP was the worst player on the pitch.
We definitely need two fullbacks.
He played very well imo. Made a couple of goal saving interventions. Much better when not stick at Right back..

Relegation fight is on the cards
I was very impressed with us today.
Both teams could've scored 4 or 5. Vale and Carter very promising.

Based on the talent, performances I've seen, whether the have physical attributes for the championship.
I like Jack Vale movement whether its coming short or looking to run in behind and his attribute of closing down. He looks like working on his strength from the Stanley game and from a number of games he can finish and score goals.
Jake Garrett like a tackle and get's stuck in which is his game but he has ability to make good passers and can switch play
Ash Phillips, He is England international defender at his age group, he tall, positional looks good from what I have seen.
And the best of them all Adam Wharton.

Perhaps but one good season for a team that finished 8th in the Championship shouldn't make him crazy money. They paid a fee rising to 2.7 mill but I'm not sure he's even kicked a ball for them, if they don't fancy him and he only has 12 months then a fee rising to 3 mill sounds about right.
Yeah, Tosin went for £2 million. £3 million For Van the man could be possible.

They have DL down as 1.87 & unless my eyes are playing tricks on me, Wharton definitely looked taller than him to me.
Think the 'measured him as a kid' line could well be possible.
Yeah, thought Scott was around 6 foot 2..

Adam Armstrong was.
Ben Brereton did for half a season before his injury
Adam Armstrong was also consistent in not chasing back. Young Buckley is very consistent imo. Hopefully he can raise his level this season.

I'd say 6/7 new players is about right. We've lost 5 players who were first team regularly last year - the 2 brighton loanees and the 3 who have left on a bosman - who all need replacing. Then there's Diaz who will leave too. Did we ever replace Arma? That makes 7 new players needed.
Dack, Markanday, JRC and Hedges (not sure the latter two are that good though!) barely featured so they're like new signings. The squad players who left, a la Johnson and Davenport, should be replaced by the academy players if they are up to it. Can they really offer any less than what players like Johnson, Davenport, Zeefuik, Giles etc offered last season?
We did have the likes of Giles also.
Though I think at least 3 of the U23s will be good squad players this year. 4 of 5 good signings would do the trick. A commanding CB and Striker first and foremost.

Agreed, he’s 6’4” but 5’6” challenging for a header.
He scored at Ewood at the back end of last season with a fluke: his first touch was dreadful and reached to regain control and as he lunged, scabbily flicked it over the keeper and in at the far post.
Hopefully JDT influence and some self belief could pay dividends.
He is very good in the air.
His first touch is terrible though, true enough.

The chances of us investing heavily this summer are minimal, so Dolan will be needed in the squad you would think.
Although I've said previously that I don't rate him that much, worth giving him a fresh start under the new regime.
£3m, if it was to be invested back in could get a replacement but chances are, it won't be.
Would be very happy with a new player to fit JDT mould. £3 would go a long way..

Do you not feel if our remit is to look at bringing players through the academy patience is needed. Dolan is 20 and still learning his trade if he was the finished article he wouldn’t be here. The positives for me is there is lots of growing room, he wants to be here and he comes across as a genuinely good guy. He puts 100% into it and works his socks off for the team. I’d prefer Dolan to Armstrong for example who played for himself
Wouldn't want Armstrong back. You are correct he only ever runs forward. Dolan puts in a proper shift, but defenders soon found out how to defend against him..
Transfer Window - COMPLETE. Where’s Gregg?
