  1. Lot of frustration, concentration is lapsing. Shape has been a bit too fluid for the position we’re in. Subs have been willing but difficult to come into that when the others have all been booked and are panicking. Think it’s a mentality thing, but you’re right, it’s concerning. Suspect it can be chalked off as a danger of having such a young squad.
  2. I think Swansea won’t survive a goal back here, whatever spark we can find, we can turn them over. Having said that, we won’t survive a second. As ever, “next goal is crucial.”
  3. Gonna give Scott Wharton the benefit of the doubt with that, given he’s recently been kicked in the head.
  4. Well, that half time team talk hasn’t had the desired effect.
  5. Probably wouldn’t pull anyone at half time, but set them back on the right course (how we started) and see how it develops. No improvement from JRC and Sigurdsson, I’d swap for Adam Wharton and Leonard, with Dolan moving out wide left. If Brittain’s struggling, maybe Ennis for him and Dolan on the right.
  6. Didn’t think an Icelandic footballer wouldn’t fancy a rainy day in Lancashire, but he doesn’t look like he’s enjoying himself at all. Seems very disengaged, almost unfit?
  7. Yeah, conditions can’t be helping but even still, some poor play has crept in.
  8. Agreed, having a good game. Looking assured so far.
  9. The effective press we had earlier this half has been scuppered by the goal. Sigurdsson, JRC and Brittain aren’t supporting it.
  10. This is a radically different game if that first chance gets put away. Players just look to have switched off the past 6-7 mins.
  11. We do not look excellent here. They probably should’ve had both the offsides, the second one looked iffy and we haven’t responded. Wasteful, really.
  12. Staggering. Excellent build-up, Swansea were all at sea, but a staggering miss.
  13. Hope the boys do her proud on the pitch today. Best wishes to you.
  14. Looks like he could be the focal point up top (good touch, fairly intelligent, holds the ball up well) but our midfield do not appear to know how to use him at all.
  15. Dolan having a really good half here, some excellent work. Trav has been far too gung-ho, he’s causing huge problems for some tired legs around him. Can’t fathom why he hadn’t been told to pair up with Tronstad and support the full backs.
  16. JRC tired here, head down when he receives the ball, instead of seeing the through ball. Switch for Adam or Trav.
  17. Dolan is the definition of a confidence player. Some excellent work since his assist. Surprised to see JRC spurn a chance from taking his foot off the gas at the crucial moment. That goal would’ve been huge. Really want to see us remain balanced and vigilant here. We struggled to see games out last season and it has to change.
  18. I said in his debut cameo that he didn’t look the required standard and I stand by that. Even still, he is scoring in the behind-closed-doors and U21s games, so there’s obviously something there. As a punt - which he was - I’m happy for him to spend the next 6 weeks getting up to speed, but if he’s still not staked a claim after Christmas, I think we’ll know.
  19. Cardiff aren’t here to play much football and they currently look a level below us. We aren’t causing much bother to their in the box, though. Got to remain balanced and focused, they will get the opportunity to break, we need to find something to make the break a lot less important when it comes (ideally two goals!). We are now a very technical side and increasingly look like a cohesive team, which is pleasing. Standard of coaching must be leagues ahead of where it’s been in recent years.
  20. Has the “death by a thousand cuts” feel to it, although how I’m reading everything doesn’t point to a Rovers funeral, I don’t think. I think if you’re being investigated like this and there’s a story dripping out every week, there’s a lot more blood to be let. Although we should all be careful about what we say definitely and what we speculate on, I would suggest that lazily using the incorrect vehicle for cross-border investment in your rent-a-mate, low-grade, faded pop star acquaintance’s doomed-from-the-off music startup is the kind of thing that a sophisticated investor tends not to do. In the words of the inimitable Logan Roy, these “are not serious people.” Although probably more suitable for those in question would be his shorter, more brusque catchphrase.
  21. Agreed. An incredible find. If he sticks around on a permanent, he’ll be a serious asset to us in this league and potentially the one above. A frankly remarkable upgrade on Diaz.
  22. Has the Raya deal gone through yet? At this rate, we could be getting jiggered out of the sell-on. He looks completely overawed by his situation.
  23. Genuinely think this whenever I watch Match of the Day. We go up and we get Balaji flying back into Ewood, an aged Ronaldinho staggering behind him, off his private jet, bottle of curaçao in hand and a letter from Madame sanctioning “four leased players.” We’d break the Derby lowest points total record, nailed-on, especially with the administrators we have in charge.
