  1. Well that's a lie, they spent half hour talking about the top 3 and then Southampton got a 10 minute slot. Doubt a bottom half Championship side will get some airtime!
  2. Read all the comments and had time absorb the shambolic performance I witnessed today. Here is my piece.. I didn't think Wahlstedt could be any worse but failing to command the six yard box from a long throw and the disallowed Kipre goal is just completely unacceptable. He has to be the worse signing I've seen in a long time, it's hard to think of a game where he didn't cost us a goal. Pears has to be restored next week. Hyam has got some stick rightly so, but he is a decent centre-back, he's been rushed back and to be honest, how could he and other defenders feel confident with Wahlstedt behind them. The tactics don't help, they're so exposed. As much as I love Trav and the service he's given over the years, he's always been an 'average' player. Just because he's got abit about him doesn't mean he was ever going to solve this mess on his own. Tronstrad is better (only just by virtue of reading the game better) but he still can't pass for toffee. Gallagher to Ipswich? Is it the worst thing in the world? He is one of our highest paid players but he's so injury prone and his return isn't good enough so I wouldn't say it would 'weaken' us ability wise, just reducing the experience in our already young squad. The style of football is just bonkers, we don't have the players to carry it out. It's like Luton going all out attack week in, week out in the prem, there's only one outcome. A good manager would recognise this and adapt, but he isn't which is a major concern. He can point to lack of resources and rightly so, but we wont be the only ones in this situation yet not many other teams are using this 'gung ho' approach. We won't go down, players coming back and that will be enough to get us over the line - however, it merely papers over the cracks. The DoF/Head Coach isn't working and JDT isn't the right manager to deal with a club in such a predicament but the worst thing is that I don't who would be the right 'fit' and willing to work under these conditions. I was however, massively encouraged by Jake Garrett's performance - he's massively improved and he has that steel about him at such an early age, he needs to be playing more. I'd have him over Wharton, he's too easy to bypass.
  3. Although todays result is disappointing, this cannot come as a surprise to anyone. No real investment in years and although seeing a number of academy graduates come through, they need help. The JDT situation is a tricky one. I rate him, he’s clearly coached the team really well, there is a marked difference in our approach play however, it poses a few questions: a) Does he need more time? We’re not finishing our chances but with a young squad, the decision making is always the one facet of game that takes time to develop. Is there an argument that with experience, things will click into place? b) Is he simply not the right fit given the (limited) resources we have at our disposal? They’re are clearly players that aren’t comfortable playing this way and I am concerned he has continued to persist with this attacking style of football and this to me shows a lack of nouse, understanding of the player limitations and league itself. Regardless of our hypothesis, there’s been very little investment and when you get a DoF in the building with our budget, the margins are very fine. Egg would pretty much have to get every signing spot on with maybe small degree of tolerance. But most signings have been extremely underwhelming and not very successful and that really concerns me, want can’t afford to piss money down the drain like that. Szmodics and Hyam are probably the only decent signings we’ve made. Wahlstedt is horrific business, he’s awful. But our squad is and budget is closely aligned with our current league position so this shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone. We massively overachieved last season and until we get more investment, we’ll continue to be mid-low table fodder which is a massive shame.
  4. Wahlstedt won’t start just yet. Britain needs to be play right back and JRC has to play further forward, his runs cause a real problem. Ennis has looked good but I suspect Gally could start. Markandy is too lightweight and Dolan is just not good enough, his decision making hasn’t improved at all over the past two seasons.
  5. Although it appears that we've over-achieved, it has to be seen a huge disappointment considering the position we were in. Ultimately, the lack of investment has seen us come up short. My concern is we have a lot of very average players (Pickering, Travis, Hedges, Dolan to name a few) amongst some promising young players (JRC, A. Wharton) and as much as we need quite a few decent additions, can you really see it happening? I don't understand why JDT gets some grief on here, I think he's done an excellent job with the resources he has and I think we'll struggle to keep hold of him. While Venky's, Broughton, Waggott etc are running the show - it's not going to get any better. I hope I'm wrong, but I've been hoping for a decade. They've made a massive contribute in us inventiblely coming up short, not the players and certainly not the manager.
  6. Evening all, New user here. I work with a chap who is a Huddersfield Town fan and made a passing comment which shocked him and that was that I believe Mowbray has taken the team as far as he can. I thought I was being rash but after checking the comments here..I'm clearly not. The last 6-8 weeks have been poor. He has been unfortunate which defensive injuries and I'm delighted that we've made the transition to a new brand of football however, after some big results early doors teams have reacted and know how to set up against us. Unfortunately, we don't seem to have the intelligence to deal with this issue. It's all well and good knocking it around but without any penetration - we won't cause many teams problems. We have three centre mids who drop deep to receive the ball, Rothwell should be pushing further forward where he can commit players and create space for others. We brought Dack on and we never played through him- granted, he's just returned but we looked miles better when he came on against Wednesday. Brereton and Gallagher are just carthorses who offer very little. Elliot was poor tonight but he's 17 and in the main, he's done well for someone of his age. We don't push our full backs high enough, we got real problems at left back. Douglas has been a massive disappointment and has not replicated his form from his Wolves and Leeds day. Maybe it's the players, the system or both. I wouldn't say sack him because sometimes grass isn't always greener and we could live to regret that decision. I think if our ambitions are (or were) play-offs then he isn't the man for the job. I would say keep him and then wait for someone suitable to become available, someone who can pick up the new brand of football and take it to the next level, this should be the club's philosophy and we only invest in someone who shares that vision. We get that person in and then sack Mowbray (that's what clubs do now) I think sack him now would be rash and we could end up going for someone who can get us to challenge - like a Pulis and I don't want that!
