    Looks like we are finally  waking up with regards to Travis and Tronstads contracts.

    The article however, certainly feels like its written to soften the blow of Travis departure.

    I suspect the club will try and cash in on him, whilst he still has some value to cover some the financial hole they have created.

    The article suggests there's a semi-decent chance Brittain signs, and perhaps a small chance Tronstad will too? However, I personally wouldn't bet a single penny on that happening.

    The more likely scenario is that the muppets running the place will let it drag on and on, then (if anything) low-ball them, talks come to a hold... inevitably, they'll end up getting snapped up by a normal Club with a bit of ambition.

    Travis, I personally don't think there's even a slight chance that he stays. He'll be sold this window to the first bidder... gonna be gutted!

    The tough reality is that the Club don't really want to keep them, certainly not on higher wages for multiple years. They'd much sooner cash in on all 3, bring in cheaper alternatives (probably free agents/loans on miniscule wages), then pocket the c. £8m from their transfer fees... the Venky's will be delighted.

    Just something the club told him to make it look like something is happening.

    I imagine we might have enquired, certainly don't think it was anywhere near "advanced talks" though.

    Rudy: Hello! We’re interest in your fine defender, Modibo Sagnan.
    Montpellier: Ah yes, Modibo! Solid player. Are you looking to make an offer?
    Rudy: We are indeed! So... can we have him?
    Montpellier: Of course, if the price is right! What are you thinking?
    Rudy: Here’s the twist - what if, and hear me out... you just give him to us?
    Montpellier: What? Like... for free?
    Rudy: Think of the wage savings! The changing room space...
    Montpellier: Yeah okay no. Not gonna happen, goodbye.
    Rudy: Wait wait wait!
    Montpellier: *deep sigh* What now?
    Rudy: I was joking! Classic Rudy, right? Let’s get serious - it’s time to advance with this.
    Montpellier: Oh hahaha, you sneaky little rascal. Alright, alright - let’s talk!
    Rudy: Hahaha... perfect. Now tell me this: Do you... like Pringles?

  3. Can't imagine this team right now would finish any higher than 12th next season - but as we all know, this team is about to change massively...

    There are so many variables, but for Rovers recruitment is everything for the next few months.

    Can't see a scenario where we'll be anywhere near the top, simply based on the other teams and their finances/ambitions;

    • You've got Leicester, Ipswich and Southampton coming down with squads that could already dominate this league - but they'll also each have buckets of cash.
    • Then you've whoever doesn't win the playoffs - 3 of Sheff Utd, Sunderland, Coventry and Bristol City.
    • To top it off... you've then got Birmingham and Wrexham coming up with solid squads already (particularly Brum) but then they've also got shit loads of disposable cash and massive pull in the market. I genuinely expect Birmingham to spend loads and be challenging at the very top.

    In my opinion, we'll be nowhere near it!

  4. Mustapha Bundu would be a coup;

    • Free Agent at the end of the season, not currently on huge wages.
    • 10 goals and 6 assists for a terrible Plymouth this season.
    • One of Kargbo's pals as well, a fellow Sierra Leone international (remember they snapped a pic together when we played).

    Makes a lot of sense, he's fast, dangerous in attack and clearly hitting his prime.

    On the other hand, I imagine other suitors would probably come in with better offers than us... but hopefully the Club show at least a little ambition and give it a go!

    well I think we will actually get a reaction from the players today and I think we will beat Stoke and put in a positive performance.

    People wrote this set of players off against WBA and it came back to bite them on the backside.

    Hold on a minute... you're taking the super optimistic route?!

    I'm very shocked, not like you mate!

  6. The wrong date that was originally in the thread title had me thinking the match was tonight...

    When I woke up, still thinking it was tonight, that feeling of dread (with a hint of betrayal) set in... knowing that i'd likely end up in a bad mood after another predictable loss.

    I watch every game, whether at Ewood or on TV, and it’s usually one of the highlights of my week - but lately, it’s just different.

    I’m relieved to find the match is actually tomorrow. Would much rather spend my evening on the PS5...

    This is where i’m at now - I just feel like that spark is going.

  7. Can't imagine it sits well with the lower earners in the Rovers squad; grafting their asses off during training and matches, whilst knowing that the fat little used car salesman Waggott, who's actively destroying the Club, is earning more than them.

    Another thing that sums up how bad it is - the advertising boards around the ground - along the top of the Riverside and the front of the JW stand there are dozens of Venkys ad boards - and they are all absolutely filthy or faded. They've been there now for years and have just worn away.

    It's a pretty poor do when the club can't even be arsed to ensure the owners' boards are replaced and look decent. The ones on the JW lower look a right mess on TV and visiting clubs/dignitaries will be looking at the ones on the Riverside all match covered in grime.

    The signage on the BBE - the display for the Ronnie Clayton BBE - looked smart when it was first done over a decade ago - but inevitably it is now starting to wear away - there are bits missing and falling off. Just a mess.

    These caught my attention when I was at the Norwich game the other day, they look like they have actual shit on them - embarrassing.

    The transparent panels on the roof of the Blackburn End also looked very murky from where I was sat... doesn't look like these have been cleaned recently.

    We have won 4 out of our last 15, we aren't suddenly going to win 4 in a row!

    4 points at best from them games.

    I agree - hence why I also put this bit which was deleted from your quote...

    However, we have a team capable of getting bummed 3-0 by a horribly out of form Swansea. This is the difference, I can see us getting maybe 6 points, if we're being generous.

  10. Updated "race to 70 points" table;

    image.png.d32adb4c602641b9ede2a8bfb97cff00.png

    Side note, i'm also absolutely sick of Coventry with their annual mid-season playoff charge, after being shite for the first half of the season.

    Anyway, the next 4 games are vital;

    Derby (a) - 24th
    Stoke (a) - 19th
    Cardiff (h) - 20th
    Portsmouth (a) - 17th

    You look at that, and think that a team aiming for playoffs should be getting 12 points from those games... I think Sunderland and Coventry would.

    However, we have a team capable of getting bummed 3-0 by a horribly out of form Swansea. This is the difference, I can see us getting maybe 6 points, if we're being generous.

    Hopefully the return of Tronstad and Ohashi, plus the addition of our new Gaffer, can make up the difference.

    In an ideal world, we win all 4 of those... this would put us on 64 points, needing only 6 points from our remaining 7 matches (0.86 PPG) to hit 70 points. Playoffs would be very much on the cards.

    Come on lads, please!

  11. Looks like BetVictor aren't taking bets on it anymore, they've been removed from here: https://www.oddschecker.com/football/football-specials/blackburn/next-permanent-manager

    Could it suggest that it's wrapped up at this point? Probably not, but I really hope so!

    Personally i'm ready for this chapter to end - get the new gaffer down Brockhall with the lads pronto, big game this weekend.

  12. Aware that i'm in the minority here, but i'll be happy with Valerian Ismael.

    Wouldn't have been my first choice... but then again, Eustace wouldn't have been at the time we hired him either.

    Ismael will no doubt be eager to prove himself. I can see him having a brilliant impact on the mentality of the group, and expect the more physical players to thrive under him - he's a good fit for the Club at this stage.

    At this level - it's incredibly common for both managers and players to have some negatives on their CV, if they didn't then they'd quite simply be operating at a higher level.
