  1. https://www.sheffieldunited.news/news/sheffield-united-win-race-to-sign-anel-ahmedhodzic-ahead-of-blackburn/ Apparently Sheff United have beat us to Ahmedhodzic
  2. I'm gonna go with 1 permanent and 1 loan before the Accy game, i'm an optimist.
  3. Same! It makes perfect sense that JDT has needed time to review what he has, it's certainly the right way to do things... However it's also quite agonising to see some of the free's that have been snapped up as well as Burnley signing players left, right and centre - whilst we're seemingly doing nothing. I expect plenty will be going on next week though. We were told to be patient in all fairness... but that's difficult after the exciting appointments of JDT/GB, we're all very curious about who they could bring in with their connections and how much we have to spend etc.
  4. Middlesbrough have confirmed the Lenihan signing on their Twitter, hurts to see him in that kit despite how replaceable I think he is. We need some good news around here!
  5. Time is certainly running out on us, we need to complete about 6 signings/loans before then - the sooner the better since JDT will need to get them on the same page as the rest of the team. The season starts in 36 days, to complete 6 signings before then we'd need to sign a player every 6 days - we need to get our asses in gear pronto.
  6. I found out the other day that we offered Lenihan a contract worth 24k/week. I'm personally glad he's gone, I don't think he's worth that - we could probably find someone who'd be happy with just over half of that amount.
  7. Great signing for them, pulls like this and John Swift to WBA make me worry that we're falling behind our rivals a little too much here. I really hope we're enquiring about proven players like this who are available on a free... Jed Wallace is another, looks likely to go to WBA or the dingles. We need to get a move on!
  8. In order to sign Van Hecke the deal would have to include BBD, too expensive otherwise. If Brighton are still interested as they were earlier in the year, surely JP and a bit of money would tempt them. Personally i'd be pushing for this as a priority, Diaz for JPVH and £10m. Then do what it takes to sign Botheim up, that's how you potentially replace Ben's goals. Dream scenario... but not entirely out of the realms of possibility.
  9. Hopefully Nyambe! As good as Rothwell can be, I personally wouldn't want him at the club anymore
  10. JDT: “I'm really proud and excited to be taking over as Head Coach of Blackburn Rovers – a club with a lot of tradition and also great ambition. “We have a young team here, and also a great Academy, and the Owners have a clear vision, which is to develop players and become a sustainable Premier League club over time, so I’m really happy to be involved in this exciting new chapter for the club. “Since leaving Malmo, I have been looking for the right club and I had a lot of options, but after speaking to Steve (Waggott) and Gregg (Broughton) I got a really good feeling about the club and I knew that I had found my next opportunity. “I grew up watching English football, so I know all about the passion for football here and how special football fans are in England, so it’s great to come to such a big club as Blackburn Rovers and to be involved with such passionate fans and in a really good league, which the Championship is. It will be a great challenge, but it’s something I’m really looking forward to being a part of. “For a Head Coach, the best thing is to work with the players and the staff, to show a direction and to work together to create an environment for the staff and the players to be successful, because at the end of the day it’s about being successful, winning as many games as possible and also develop the players, the team and the club in a positive direction.” --- https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/20207588.live-updates-reaction-blackburn-rovers-appoint-jon-dahl-tomasson/
  11. They didn't win the league the season before he joined them either. He came in, won them back to back titles, and left. They're currently sitting at 5th in the table. He certainly had an impact in his time there i'd say.
  12. After glancing over a few stats... His Malmo team seemed to find the net a lot, scoring more than any other team in the league whilst also conceding one of the lowest amounts - 2 goals for every 1 conceded roughly. Have also seen that they averaged just under 60% possession over 2 seasons in which they won the league both times. Suggests a decent attacking style to me - dominating possession, effective in the final 3rd and not conceding too many. That's in the Swedish league mind, not quite as competitive as the Championship - but if he was to implement a style like the above with us, it could work wonders. All guess-work based off stats really, if anyone has actually watched Malmo they may be able to back or disprove this. ---- Another note - they also seem to have slumped quite a bit since he left.
  13. A nice twist would be that we've approached Rooney, since the Derby takeover is on the brink of collapsing. A more realistic twist would be TM getting a new contract.
  14. Devastating news. The loss to Reading could well have been his last ever game for us.
  15. Would like to see a team like this personally... Things need to be switched up. Give young Jack Vale a start, he'll be hungry to make his mark and knows where the net is, unlike Gallagher who I honestly wouldn't play against a Sunday League team right now. Sure he works hard, but he simply just doesn't have the ability.
  16. Time to shake things up a bit, the current system clearly isn't working. I think we need to go less defensive with the formation, in spite of the fact that the defence has been the only slight positive recently. Would like to see Gallagher play in his natural position and I think Hedges could thrive at CAM, I recall the Aberdeen fans saying he's a creator who's capable of making things happen. This is how i'd line up this weekend; Perhaps it's not too wise to switch it up for QPR (particularly from a defensive viewpoint)... but honestly, I really can't see how we will manage even a point against them at the moment anyway. Worth a punt IMO.
  17. Not full of confidence for this one, they've hit a great patch of form lately. I really can't see how we score against this lot, after being unable to against the likes of WBA and Swansea. I'm quite the optimist, and will generally predict a clutch win in these sorta games. But i'm just not feeling it this time, 2-0 Sheff U. Really hope i'm wrong, but either way - COYB!
  18. It's realistic to predict that we'd come straight back down, but promotion would be absolutely transformational for the club regardless. The huge cash injection would help us pay off debts, offer long contracts to our current players and make some quality signings. The value of our young promotion winners would skyrocket too - stick them on long contracts and we could absolutely rinse anyone who moves in for them. The gate would also increase substantially, every match i'd expect a minimum of 20k home fans at Ewood in the Prem. Then if we go back down: Strong championship squad, parachute payments, relief from debts and confidence around the club. I'll take it!
  19. Praying for 3 points in this one. Tony says we'll have Darragh back which is good, hoping to see the following team; A draw isn't enough if we're looking to remain in the top 6, Millwall aren't to be taken too lightly either - they beat WBA 2-0 only a couple of weeks ago. Last night wasn't the most frustrating performance we've put out in recent weeks - hopefully we can build on that and grab a win on Saturday.
  20. A couple of notes on the game last night. Don't know where to start with JRC. A performance he'll want to forget. However i'm mindful of the fact that he's just had a long lay-off, out of position, got thrown in last minute etc. Would like to see him play with the U23's for a bit. Nyambe was brilliant, play him at every opportunity. If it's him or Deyo, there is no debate. Wharton - defensively brilliant as ever. However, I find his long balls to be very wasteful and frustrating at times. He also needs to work on his offensive heading, he does a great job at getting his head on corners but the accuracy is poor. Brereton - Shades of Diaz in last nights performance, he really stood out at times. Needs to watch his line though, 2 offside goals! Hope his knock isn't anything too serious. Dolan - Must start against Millwall. Gives his all every single minute, plays like he's Blackburn born and bred - the energy and passion oozes off him. Overall - not the worst result, but we've again left the teams around us drooling. We really needed 3 points and could have spanked this lot with more brains and composure in the final 3rd. For weeks we've been very sloppy around the middle too, constantly giving the ball away for large chunks of the game - urgently needs looking at. WBA had lost their previous 3 games 0-2. It's gonna really hit home when they lose to Luton at the weekend, and then get a battering off 'Boro shortly after. Anyway... fingers crossed for +3 against Millwall on Saturday.
  21. Whilst QPR and Bournemouth have games in hand, it shouldn't worry us too much. They still have to squeeze in the extra fixtures and get points from them, which isn't at all a guarantee. I took note of the fact that both of them have somewhat difficult fixtures in April, right near the finishing line where they'll be pushing for points... hopefully they fold under the pressure, whilst we have something of an 'easier' run to end the season (for the most part). If we can manage a couple of wins and a couple of draws from now until we play Fulham in early March i'll be pleased, since after that you'd fully expect us to win the majority of our remaining games. I don't think QPR will beat 'boro tomorrow, hopefully Birmingham can grind a result at Bournemouth... and we'll beat Forest, 2-0!
  22. Luton went life and death with a massively depleted squad of ours, on their own patch, never really looked like scoring and IMO only managed a draw due to us having none of our main attackers. 3 days later that same squad goes to Swansea and makes them look like a borderline league 2 team. I think we're gonna absolutely spank Swansea on Saturday. 0-3
  23. Liam Delap is currently in Blackburn's Pizza Hut with his agent, seen enjoying a Pepperoni with stuffed crust
