So you think individual youth players might get through? Youth players who have won their league and taken the place of Man Utd in the league above?

Personally think Hardcastle is due a chance in midfield, and Travis in competition for RB with Nyambe at least.

If you can't gain a regular starting place in league one against the likes of Corry Evans then what future chance do you really have ?

The latter is just an embarrassing comment JAL. He’s come on so much.

But I don’t suppose you’d even praise him if he turned up to your house, took you out for the night, bought all your food and drinks and paid for your taxi home.

Who Raya or the dummy right back ?

    Ask Mowbray.

Why waste his time when they've had opportunities and failed to take them. That checkatrade performance at home to Bury was embarrassing and that's a now a league two outfit that the youngsters couldn't compete against.

This is why the likes of Armstrong Payne and Antonnsson are here on loan.

In a sh1t or bust season I’m not sure I’d have put the kids in more often than Mowbray did. Raya and Nyambe weren’t exactly veterans but they were picked every game available. Nuttall has been on the pitch 620 mins, equivalent of 7 full games, not bad considering Graham and Dack are must picks, and IMO he didn’t earn any more time. Travis was thrown on in some critical situations then completely ballsed up in a crucial game. And, most importantly, we will be going up without having needed them.

    Raya has progressed Nyambe hasn't.

    Sorry, yes. I agree.

Not convinced Mowbray has much stock in this youth team which is a shame.

I remember a few years ago Bowyer refusing to play any youngsters in a dead rubber game so it could go either way.

The youngsters have shown that they aint good enough at first team level.

Real shame this evening. A sucker punch right at the end of a reasonably even first half. Second half we just couldn’t make our possession count and lacked the killer ball.

Villa are most cynical youth side I’ve seen this season. Dirty, whinging and time-wasting. Clearly the image of their manager - who looked like he got dressed in the dark. In a hostel. In a tramp’s clothes.

Really hope we get the point we need against one of Villa’s local rivals. I’d be disgusted if they won the league.

Oh, and the ref made the worst L1 official look like Bradley Wiggins. Couldn’t keep up with play and was very poor.

All in all, I think the occasion got to our lads. I think we’d have got a draw at the humble County Ground. They looked dejected at the end. Johnson threw the kitchen sink at then but we didn’t really fashion a clear-cut chance all evening.

Take it Nuttall didn't do much from this hour and a half with no goal.

I will start the plaudit thread so and be awaiting your posts :)

No problem big dog got to get over the line first. How convenient was it for Nyambe to be out of the team and posters getting it right by saying Bennett would be a better choice, hats off to the posters for seeing it.

Rich Sharpe is right and spot on. Hasnt got anywhere near the credit he should have done.

    In Tony we trust

You need to tell Sharpe that Tony hasn't won anything yet on the back of his relegation last season.

Once we are promoted then he'll receive the plaudits but until that moment arrives....its all to play for.

Excellent performance from the Under-23's tonight at Molineux.  Wolves didn't have a worthwhile shot in 90 minutes.  Rovers were dominant in midfield with Travis, Tomlinson and Hardcastle in total control whilst Platt, Magloire and Grayson didn't give the attack a sniff at goal.   Considering that the likes of Butterworth, Doyle and Rankin-Costello are all out injured, the quality of young players stepping up from the Under-18's is very encouraging.  The future for this club is certainly looking bright with the amount of talent coming through our own ranks.

On the flip side how many of the Wolves players will never play regular first team football from this post parsons ? I'd say most of them.

Apparently Blackburn is "enjoying" the fastest growth in house prices in the UK at 16.4%

    https://www.theguardian.com/business/2018/mar/16/london-slump-shrinks-north-south-divide-in-house-prices

This article in the I newspaper caught my attention, partly because it's Blackburn but also because of the general point surrounding the evolution of the high stree

    https://inews.co.uk/news/long-reads/british-high-street-optimistic-blackburn/

Putting it into protective Blackburn had hit next to near rock bottom so to show an improvement is going to sound good problem is can they sustain it and go on from here.

  11. How much of a commitment is there from today's young adults to play football week in week out ?

The damming indicement of todays youngsters from what I've experienced is that the playing numbers have dwindled dramatically since the 80's with today's amateur games being bolstered by many a non Brit and over 40's.

The coaching numbers you quote would therefore seem appropriate for the number of players actively involved to me.

  12. Those early seventies when the cameras came to Ewood, as a kid you'd run to the corner when the corner was to be taken or run behind the goals for a penalty when the game was an honest innocent sport. happy days !

That hour or so on a Saturday evening followed by a hour or so on a Sunday afternoon where happy days to get your footy fix plus the pre match show on ITV (was it friday evening) when Granada ran a competition amongst goalkeepers for the ones that had gone the most minutes without conceding a goal and Roger Jones was just behind the legendary Italian Dino Zoff for most minutes played without conceding a goal. Dino Zoff then Roger Jones wow !

    Great read red rose Rover.

I missed that. I can't really see why we would to be honest. It takes a man out of midfield or attack, and I don't think our defenders are that good in a flat back four, let alone a three.

Hmmm. I suppose if we did it

    --------------------------Pickford

    --------------Gomez----Stones----Cahill

    Walker-------------------------------------------Rose

    ----------------------Dier-------Wilshire

    -------------------------------Alli

    --------------------Sterling-----Kane

Yeah I don't get it. Basically we would be losing one of Sterling, Alli, or Rashford for an extra (Probably quite rubbish) centre back. Any smart team that uses space well (Argentina, France, Brazil, Spain yada yada) will get down the sides of us too I think.

4231 seems a better use of our assets. Despite what Southgate may have said my money is on 4231.

Pick ford wouldn't play in my cricket team if he can't catch a size 5 ball then he's no chance with a cricket ball. He's as bad as Raya for coming for crosses. ? Pick theball out the net fOrd.

Another Evertonian dummy pity we have a few at Ewood ?

  14. Is selecting Wilshere a good idea knowing his hatred for Tottenham when you have several Tottenham players in the squad ?

Harry Kane for me looks too slow to have an impact at International level impact sub at best for me.

Dier for me is like Corry Evans does nothing of note to warrant a place.

Stones like Kane is too slow and always has a mistake in him.

When I've watched Dell Ali and Rashford play together, Ali always seems to play very difficult balls into Rashford which riles me as they are two very good English players.

Hart has to be third choice at best when it comes to keepers if Pick ford is the Everton goalkeeper then No way should this young dummy be playing for England.

  15. Full credit to Ireland this year though let's hope England can finish on a positive note to what's been a rather flat six nations by winning tomorrow. Watched Wales last weekend against Italy, the Welsh can consider themselves unfortunate not to be going into the final game with a chance of winning the tournament.

The six nations is such a magnificent tournament roll on next year's.

what your obsession with slanging of Samuel and Nuttall now?

another target of your just like Nyambe. You clearly dislike/hate them cos who their agents are.

Last night game was a practice game at best and nothing more. It served a purpose and nothing more

Was only posting a reply to a tweet that's all chaddy nothing to do with Nyambe on this one.

As for practice what did they practice ?........... To do and deliver nothing.

It was a competition that the Under-23 lads had worked hard to get to a semi-final in.  So I suspect they did care when the senior players strolled around with the aim of getting fit.  As the next round - the final - isn't until August I'm not sure how that would impact on the fixtures over the next few weeks.

Isn't Samuel only 23 and Nuttall 21, if they cant be arsed, what future do we have with these two.

I asked who were the main offenders. I think this tells a bit of a story!! I suppose you could be kind and say “taken off to keep fresh for weekend.” Hmmm.

Five of these guys are Tony Mowbray's signings with one a Loanee but the two upfront are a major concern as they  aren't looking too clever.

It's still in the trial stage. Nothing has been decided yet.

Like anything new Tony there will always be resistance. You've just got to work through the problems and make a smoother process that becomes the norm with delays kept to a bare minimum.

It's an additional tool to the referees armoury if that's the right word and I'm sure they ll be assessed on how competent they are at using VAR.

It would only be human to find that current referees are against using this technology.
