    Agree to disagree.

Travis was heading out on loan when Smallwood / Evans got injured and he was thrust into the starting lineup. He quickly became one of our best players (and is, quite frankly, the first name on my team sheet at present)... yet Tony didn't think he was good enough to displace two cloggers.

Wharton was sent out on loan twice, I believe securing back-to-back promotions with Bury and Northampton, but Mowbray didn't think he was good enough at 22 and was actively looking to move him on that summer. Again, he was our best CB last year (Ayala is better, but never fit - and he's a better CB than Lenihan).

He messed around with Nyambe, benching him for players like Bennett.

So whilst I disagree with the overreliance on Academy prospects this summer transfer window, I've no doubt 2-3 can step up to fill squad places and push for starts because Mowbray didn't know what he had. He loaned in Clarkson ffs - I saw him play against our U23s and we ran him off the park.

    Amen.

The wage structure is pointless if it allows you to pay Ayala at the top end of it for sitting on the physio table but not allow you to go higher for someone who could get you 40+ games a season.

It's got to be a little more dynamic. If we keep ayala, we'll pay him 15k a week but we know we can't rely on him and we need another defender to come in of a reasonable quality to cover for him. If you pay him even just 10k, you're basically paying 25k a week to fill one position in the squad. Why not ship Ayala out and get a quality fit centre back in at 25k a week? Technically breaking the wage structure but it's the same cost to the owners and you're not paying the physios overtime.

Logical reasoning, but then kaminski catches wind and wants 25k, as does Dack, Wharton wants 15k instead of 10k blah blah etc etc

This club ay, only place you would ever hear ‘performance over wins’ from executives (and some managers).

Luckily we have a proper winner as manager now and you won’t be hearing it from him, I’d wager…

In context Gregg was talking about long term success, and he is correct. You ask the guys who run Brentford (best run club in the country bar Man City) and they will tell you that’s their ‘moneyball’ philosophy. But hey! MattyBlue says it’s all about unsustainable scrappy 1-0 wins… that got us far after January…

That he's brought his own support is very good. Hopefully they have a plan mapped out and can start implementing straight away.

If JDT is happy for Broughton to handle recruitment it will mean they can just focus on working with the existing team.

That's really the bit I don't quite get. Surely JDT will have a clear view of the sorts of player he wants. Maybe he gives a list of types of players wants and Broughton is tasked to find them and sign them?

Will be interesting to see how it works.

I also note that one of JDTs men is Performance Director and another head coach which to my mind further questions what DJs role will be? Will be a shame to lose him but looks like its on the cards. Wonder where Park fits in too.

I wouldn’t be too concerned RE Damien Johnson.

We have lost Mowbray and Venus and replaced them with JDT and RR

Rosen seems a replacement for Liam Mason (head of athletic performance) so I would assume DJ continues as is.

Hopefully one day DJ takes Lowe’s spot and the best coach from the academy takes DJ’s spot as I have high hopes for DJ
