Any updates on Styles via the Barnsley agent @glen9mullan?

Will only be able to judge the Szmodics signing come the end of the window in my opinion.
If we are still short at CB, the £1.5m+ would’ve been much more beneficial on a Centre Half.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned…Morton is in the Liverpool squad tonight…in Austria!!! Obvious nothing imminent there then…So frustrating….
However, I have strong believes that we will hear something tomorrow elsewhere.
Last paragraph… any reason behind it, or just a hunch? @BankEnd Rover

Can we stop clogging up the thread with all this price and brotherston 1930s cobwebs rubbish? Rant over.

I think JDT is looking at 3 across the middle. Thought he said he couldn't put 3 across the middle because he didn't have enough players to do it across 2 games?
Yeah definitely could be. Would add great balance too.

Edit - nevermind, you said GB, I thought you said JDT. Still, what would Broughton have been watching Icelandic football in 2016 for? He'd have been at...Norwich would he? Wouldn't have thought it would be a priority league to scout.Could easily have been tracking him at MK Dons u18s and saw he got a move… who cares?

Feel like I’m in dreamland. Do we think Styles would play LWB and then play CM when trav/Buckley injured/suspended?

Agree to disagree.
Travis was heading out on loan when Smallwood / Evans got injured and he was thrust into the starting lineup. He quickly became one of our best players (and is, quite frankly, the first name on my team sheet at present)... yet Tony didn't think he was good enough to displace two cloggers.
Wharton was sent out on loan twice, I believe securing back-to-back promotions with Bury and Northampton, but Mowbray didn't think he was good enough at 22 and was actively looking to move him on that summer. Again, he was our best CB last year (Ayala is better, but never fit - and he's a better CB than Lenihan).
He messed around with Nyambe, benching him for players like Bennett.
So whilst I disagree with the overreliance on Academy prospects this summer transfer window, I've no doubt 2-3 can step up to fill squad places and push for starts because Mowbray didn't know what he had. He loaned in Clarkson ffs - I saw him play against our U23s and we ran him off the park.
Amen.

You could argue all proven players that would do a job.
Shane Long guarantees you 15+ goals.
Can't say the same for any of our players.
Don't think you could say it about BREO either who scored nothing second half of the season
Long won’t even guarantee 15+ starts, nevermind goals. It’s not 2015. Goodness me.

Genuinely in shock as to how little links we have been credited with. Genuine or paper talk, at least it’s something to mull over for a day or two. Hopefully pace picks up next week once Sharpe back off holiday, but then again he’s more of a regurgitator of known information, rather than an exclusive news breaker.

Sharpe reported that Ash Phillips would sign a long term contract on July 1st… What’s happening there?

The wage structure is pointless if it allows you to pay Ayala at the top end of it for sitting on the physio table but not allow you to go higher for someone who could get you 40+ games a season.
It's got to be a little more dynamic. If we keep ayala, we'll pay him 15k a week but we know we can't rely on him and we need another defender to come in of a reasonable quality to cover for him. If you pay him even just 10k, you're basically paying 25k a week to fill one position in the squad. Why not ship Ayala out and get a quality fit centre back in at 25k a week? Technically breaking the wage structure but it's the same cost to the owners and you're not paying the physios overtime.
Logical reasoning, but then kaminski catches wind and wants 25k, as does Dack, Wharton wants 15k instead of 10k blah blah etc etc

This club ay, only place you would ever hear ‘performance over wins’ from executives (and some managers).
Luckily we have a proper winner as manager now and you won’t be hearing it from him, I’d wager…
In context Gregg was talking about long term success, and he is correct. You ask the guys who run Brentford (best run club in the country bar Man City) and they will tell you that’s their ‘moneyball’ philosophy. But hey! MattyBlue says it’s all about unsustainable scrappy 1-0 wins… that got us far after January…

I wouldn't say Khedra was a must.
Obviously Van Hecke would be a massive bonus.
JPvH and JDT have the same agent… we can dream

That he's brought his own support is very good. Hopefully they have a plan mapped out and can start implementing straight away.
If JDT is happy for Broughton to handle recruitment it will mean they can just focus on working with the existing team.
That's really the bit I don't quite get. Surely JDT will have a clear view of the sorts of player he wants. Maybe he gives a list of types of players wants and Broughton is tasked to find them and sign them?
Will be interesting to see how it works.
I also note that one of JDTs men is Performance Director and another head coach which to my mind further questions what DJs role will be? Will be a shame to lose him but looks like its on the cards. Wonder where Park fits in too.
I wouldn’t be too concerned RE Damien Johnson.
We have lost Mowbray and Venus and replaced them with JDT and RR
Rosen seems a replacement for Liam Mason (head of athletic performance) so I would assume DJ continues as is.
Hopefully one day DJ takes Lowe’s spot and the best coach from the academy takes DJ’s spot as I have high hopes for DJ

Got to remember Burnley are still awaiting a work permit for Kompany, that has been done deal for a few weeks, he is still not over here. So not expecting him in too soon.
Kompany doesn’t have a Pro license - JDT does which will vastly fast track his VISA application as he is the most qualified you can be in the profession

There's a flight from Copenhagen landing at Manchester around 10:30 so providing he doesn't have much luggage he'll be announced around 3pm.
Yes, I am that sad I checked 🥲
I’m not 100%, but I believe he lives in the Netherlands.
