  1. There is honestly more to Dyche than that - but he will play whatever way wins. The last 3 seasons are not representative of his time with us. His net spend was less than 5 million a season and he was playing a game of diminishing returns. Fair to say he probably won’t play tiki taka - and frankly why should he. The most entertaining football is winning football. Not one Burnley fan complained when we won promotion twice, when we went 23 undefeated, when we finished 7th in the premier league. It was only as the funds were withheld and he was trying to make chicken soup from chicken sh*t the gripes started.
  2. Will be interesting if it happens. He came to us and turned the 2nd worst defence in the league into the second best within a month - and without signing a player. The following season he got us promoted in second. As I recall the main signing were Heaton for free, Vokes and Shackel - and Mee I think. Not sure what state Stokes squad is in but Dyche has it in his locker to make a quick impact. Agree though probably next season maybe more so than this one.
  3. Dyche being linked with Stoke - for me that would likely make them serious competition.
  4. Just shins coming together…
  5. Feck me he nearly snapped his leg - should have chinned the little b’stard. Agree though, should have kept his cool on the pitch and chinned him in the tunnel.
  6. Yeah but where would be in the xG table? How much possession would we have had? Oh sure we’d probably go 23 undefeated or something but where’s the fun in that?
  7. I think the away end only holds 2100.
  8. Couldn’t get a stream but from what friends have messaged. Mullered them first half but messing about at the back cost us a goal and nearly another 1. Second half they were better but we were poor. Some saying poor game management when still at 3-1 not to just close the game out - then even more so at 3-2. I guess that is the teams inexperience showing. Everyone seems to be saying it was more about poor play from us than great play from them - but for me they deserve credit for getting themselves back in it. We are still a work in progress and will be a while before we are seeing games like this out. We’ve dominated the ball again but they had double our shots on target.
  9. It’s been consistently around 29/30 so not so extreme. 5 weeks? Lucky bugger. Only here 10 nights Hardly, so far we’ve played with a keeper, 4 defenders, 2 defensive midfielders, I guess it’s been 3 attacking mids, 2 of them wingers, and one striker.
  10. Good to hear how confident you are feeling, usually helps when teams turn up expecting to smash you out of the park.
  11. I’m away in Tenerife so will miss this one - missed the previous 2 as well. Think we will struggle again. Well drilled, they’ll let us pass it about and just shut us down in the final third, hitting us on the break. If we can score first obviously changes the game. If they do it becomes a real uphill struggle for us. Hoping I might be able to pick up a stream out here.
  12. I’m pleased a manager is finally saying he cares about the derbies instead of the usual boring sound bites like ‘it means something to the fans of course but at the end of the day it’s just one more game and three more points’ etc etc. But I’m sure he’ll need to speak your name come match day.
  13. I think they did a piece on PL coaches watches - Dyche had the most expensive. Being gravel voiced and ‘unfashionable’ does not make you a crap manager.Your coach has made an excellent start but he’s miles behind Dyche’s achievements at this level and the one above. Mind if he’s only 60% as effective as Dyche you’ll go up. I’m not sure but I think Brownhill and Cullen start if fit, regardless of who else plays. On strikers, we seem to want a plethora of wingers so who knows. If we don’t sign someone then I fear that more than anything will stymy our success. That said as the team finds its feet maybe the goals can come from across the team. Sort of surprised Brereton hasn’t been snapped up already. If you keep him that will be a massive boon for your chances of promotion.
  14. My guess is a lot was around Twine in that sort of number 10 role. With due respect I looked at some other your stats recently and Dyche would be proud of them. Minimal possession but absolutely deadly with the chances you create. Any chance Brereton will be sold this window? I guess if it wasn’t Burnley I’d be intrigued to watch things unfold. A team trying to play ‘the pep way’ in the championship against other styles. Without better protection from the referees as you see in the PL and Europe. Could be quite a season for us. Not sure I subscribe to those on here saying we are now ‘shit’ however, just lacking goals to make us contenders at this point.
  15. I’m away on holiday at the moment so haven’t caught all the games. Did see last nights in a stream though. I think you sun it up well. Bastien came in with a name as a defensive mid, Vitinho as an attacking full back. Benson got the crap kicked out of him the other day and that seems to have knocked his confidence. I feel getting twine back will be massive for us but, for me, we still need another striker. I’m not worried - yet, I expected it to take a while but if we want to be successful we will need to find a way to finish more of the chances we create.
  16. 😂😂😂 Yeah does sometimes seem so - but then again Sterling seems to manage. No sign of 3 at the back other than when we attack and a CM drops in to a three. The trouble is Egan-Riley, as rated as he’s been, has hardy played league football. McNally looks raw as. We’ve been linked with Jack Hendry as well, which would make some sense on the experienced front. Cullen and Cork in front of the back 4 offer a lot of experience. As fans we need to be patient. There are some tough games and results ahead for us - possibly starting tomorrow. The way you guys have started we need to start bracing ourselves for a tough game in November - though time to play ourselves into the season by then.
  17. Not desperately bothered. It seemed a little odd and listening to Kompany recently it was clear there were concerns bringing him in would block options for others. In the end I think it’s the right decision for both parties. Based on reports as I’ve not seen him play you’ve got a good player there. Yeah Tella is who we’ve got. Again reading around some mixed reports, rapid and skilful but possibly limited end product. Also some suggestion he’s injury prone. Not sure how I feel about this one.
  18. Looks like you’ve won the race to sign Van Den Berg from Liverpool who we were after. Been a poor day for us in the market, another target went to Olympiacos so we are after a player from Southampton instead. *Turns out the player from Southampton was instead of one from Rangers not the one who went to Olympiacos.
  19. Will one game of Rugby on a dry pitch make a massive difference to the surface? Either way I imagine there will be a few clubs looking to make their pitch unsuited to a passing side when we visit and we will have to adjust if we have any ambitions in this league. Rest assured our pitch is like a bowling green:
  20. Maybe not just Burnley fans getting ahead of themselves … End of September will give a clearer picture on how the rebuild is going for us - and indeed in general how teams are doing. As for the other stuff, you understand our fans poorly. We can’t impact the rules on ownership anymore than you guys could. I seem to recall many being very happy Venkys and the plans to sign Ronaldinho etc for the first few seasons. I hate the leveraged buyouts and feel they should be banned - in football if not general - but not a lot I could/can do. If we don’t get up in the next 2 seasons I suspect that is when any chickens will come home to roost (pun intended 😬)
  21. I saw this. Didn’t know anything about him so had a quick look. Seems to score in French league 2 but not sure what the quality is there. Some other names being mentioned from Europe (Magyar Gueye was one) and a centre back from Liverpool on loan. We need a striker for sure. The lad we signed last week Benson looked decent in the second half on Saturday.
  22. Under Dyche we never seemed to try to win cup games - possible exception being the league cup against you guys in 2017. He seemed happy to get out of them quickly. Hoping things might change now:
  23. I’ve also noticed you guys have EFL cup games and we don’t. What’s that all about?
  24. Just for clarity - when I say we, I mean Burnley. Watford play Brom tonight. 😬
  25. Interesting game tonight. Watford are our next opponents and are the team right now I think most likely to go straight back up. Maybe them playing Monday/Friday will be to our benefit but it’s not a game I’m confident about. With their front 3 I can see our defence crumbling a bit.
