  1. I think Egan-Riley is centre half but has very little match experience. With the current way we are set up I can’t see Taylor starting ahead of Maatsen at left back on most games. He is short but is also an excellent player - or at least has been so far, certainly in an attacking sense anyway. Yesterday we looked panicked in defence at times and until that is resolved I think the divisions better attacks will enjoy playing against us. It’s all well and good having 70% plus possession but it’s pointless when you muster a single shot on target whilst the opposition manage 2. Also we actually look shorter as a side than we have in recent years - though that could just be a perception rather than a reality. The keeper is a big lad though. And with you guys out of the traps quickly we are already playing catch up.
  2. We have Harwood-Bellis and Long. Taylor is a fullback playing there. We do have McNally as well so it might not be an area he’s desperately adding to.
  3. The three in I would hope are a striker, a central defender and a wide player. Not much been said on his injury, some saying out for 3 or 4 weeks
  4. If our defence doesn’t improve, your strikers will get a bag full in November.
  5. We set up same as Huddersfield - Benson came on second half wide right, da silva later on wide left. Twine wasn’t even in the squad. Have to say first half Luton not only scored and created the better chances - our defence was all over the place - but looked in total control. Second half was totally different and we rattled them but they defended well. They used every trick in the book and the ref let them so who can blame them. Loads of possession again but only one shot on target. Brought some of our fans back down to earth so not a bad thing - I think some expected us to dance to the title.
  6. Perhaps with us being ‘Vincent Kompany’s Burnley’ the ref will be less lenient on them as he won’t fancy the media scrutiny 😂
  7. Yep, as expected as soon as someone offered the full price. Can see possibly another one or two going with maybe 3 more inbound. As for today - big test against a side that did really well last season and have a style you’d imagine we could struggle to handle. Let’s hope we can finish the day still above you in the league 😬
  8. Story is it’s all up front. I guess a release clause is great but it doesn’t allow you to dictate payment terms. We didn’t need to sell and, if those experts in the media are to be believed, we’ve insisted it’s paid in full. Benson is, apparently, all done. And yes, I do believe Collins has enough to be one of the best central defenders in the world As for the other stuff, you posted lots about how we were in turmoil, how we needed so many players we’d be in total disarray and may well get relegated. Then we play pretty well in the first game - even allowing for the hysteria on here about the second half where we still managed 67% possession and restricted them to 2 off target shots - and suddenly it’s because of all the upheaval at Huddersfield as though we’d experienced none of this. And finally, no you didn’t literally say ‘crap’ but that was a reasonable interpretation of many of your points.
  9. I’ve see a few Rovers getting excited about this on Twitter - more about them being our sponsors and posting Tugay. But a great player is a great player no matter which colours they wear. I hated Maradona for his hand of god and his general ‘dickishness’ - but he was still a great player, in fact probably the GOAT.
  10. Cornet out - as expected but WH having to pay up front it seems. Benson on his way in - and suggestion of another couple before the end of the month. Mind you I’m dreading facing you lot based on how crap a few of you think we are (after one game). Seems we will be lucky to keep it to single figures. We lost our head coach and 15 players, including one of the best keepers in the country, 2 fabulously experienced centre halves and another who I believe will go in to be one of the best in the world, 2 attackers in Cornet and McNeil and a striker who was only second in Germany to Lewandovski. But I’m sure all that doesn’t count against Huddersfield’s trials.
  11. I know - the Polish fella was also subsequently done for flashing 😂
  12. Wasn’t just the Blackburn fella from Poland though: https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/news/9907374.blackburn-pensioner-fined-interfering-two-horses/ https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/news/9866958.man-admits-sex-horse-oswaldtwistle/
  13. Once a decade 😉
  14. There are regular news articles about Blackburn folks ‘riding’ horses …
  15. Funny I was under the impression Huddersfield were the third best team in the division last season. But you are right, we will face lots of challenges - who knows maybe we can present a challenge ourselves every now and then. So far I’ve got a number of Coventry fans and Rovers fans who expect to blow us away when we play and easily finish above us so it will be interesting to see how the next 6 or 8 games go. It’s hard being little old Burnley going up against this divisions behemoths. Takkng my tongue out of my cheek for a second - a lot of Burnley fans are getting a little carried away with one match. It’s a long season and we will have highs and lows. I’m fairly sure it is to protect Burnley’s equine population from the invaders from down the ‘65.
  16. Couldn’t agree more - other than you finishing below us. I like to come on here because I know you guys will always be our harshest critics - and sometimes a voice of reason as my fellow supporters go through extremes of sweet and sour (copyright James 😬) . Plus I have been coming here for a few years now. I love the local games, love the banter, though being honest when we first started playing you more regularly after that 17 year hiatus I couldn’t enjoy the games, so desperate was I for a win and so unlikely they were as the teams were mismatched so badly. Now we’ve got that monkey off our backs I can look forward to the games. I’m hoping this seasons might be better fare than recent ones, with new managers and playing philosophies for both of us.
  17. I’m no expert but possibly article 11 I find the policing exceptionally heavy handed and I do feel as though I am being treated like a criminal. I understand why it was started but can’t see why it continues when the same rules are not applied to say PNE and Blackpool. In recent years there has been violence between Rovers and PNE fans, PNE and Blackpool etc etc: Is Burnley/Blackburn really any worse these days?
  18. It is a massive restriction on your rights and wouldn’t be acceptable for any o to et sector of society. I don’t disagree but I’d rather not be treat like a criminal for wanting to watch my team so I’ll give the away fixture a miss. Let’s be honest here - over the years plenty of fans on both sides have been attacked by the others. It isn’t a Burnley only issue. Looking at some recent press it seems, in the FL, violence is on the rise again as well. 😳😳😳
  19. Am I correct in thinking you have a player called Hedges? Which would mean if we complete this winger signing the crapico could recreate a classic Mike Bassett moment and have Benson & Hedges on the pitch 😂
  20. It’s just to acclimatise you to what’s coming the rest of the season 😬
  21. Yep, every time. I should have wised up by now really.
  22. On a different note, I’ve now seen extended highlights of the game - as in a full recording 😂. Cullen looks like some player. Assuming that isn’t a one off I’m amazed we got him for around 3 million. I feel more hopeful now we could be in and around the shake up at the end of the season.
  23. No countdown since you last beat us? 12 years, 4 months and 4 days if anyone was wondering 😬 - be over 12 1/2 years by the time we play leg one o’t crapico.
