I expect Australia to line up as
-------------------Schwarzer
Neill---------Popovic-----Vidmar-------Lazaridis
-------Bresciano----Grella-------Cahill
Emerton-----------Viduka-----------------Kewell
It is alright playing 4-3-3 against the Solomon Islands but against a European team Farina will revert to 4-4-2
Bresciano will be on the left with Cahill and Grella in the guts. As silly as it is, you know he is going to push Kewell up front with Viduka

At club level he is much too inconsistent, I still stick by the fact that the reason he took Euro 2004 by storm is that mainland Europe hadn't had a good look at him.
Players like Zidane, Ronaldo and Ronaldinho are the absolute class at all levels and can maintain it, this little imposter doesn't rate a sniff on some of the English players gone before that his talent is being associated with
I have heard people boldy claim that United where now once again a force because of Rooneys signing, what has he done in the Premier League to suggest such outlandish statements?

Let's all get some sense and hold our judgement once he has played a couple of seasons
He is still an unknown, in the premiership and on the world stage. Let some defences get used to him and then judge on what kind of player he is.
Potential to be Englands greatest player?
02 / 03 Everton 33 appearances 6 goals
03 / 04 Everton 34 appearances 9 goals
04 / 05 Man Utd 2 appearances 3 goals
Not exactly stuff of legends just yet

I think the point is being missed. It is not about the choice of patrons to stand or sit. What is about is MANAGING RISK
While probably 99% of patrons would do the safe thing what of a small percentage of those who don't? We live in an increasingly legal society where people are being sued for reasons 20 years would be seen as comment sense issues, the thing is it isn't 20 years ago.
The clubs and footballing stadiums are taking action to limit the chances of their getting their asses sued off.
This is not a right of the footballing public, it is the right of the footballing clubs to protect themselves against unneccessary future litigation.

For what it's worth, Soccernet.com put Jansen in their team of the week for his goal. There's a little spiel about his goal, too. Very nice of them.
I wouldn't mind seeing Hughesy with that team

You can search every stat by rankings. The one I used for that list was a points table for each appearance made in the old first division or premiership table at the end of each year i.e for every first place 12 points is awarded, second 9 points and so on
Tournament 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9
English League (1889-2004)
12 9 7 6 5 4 3 2 1
The first column refers to how many points a team receives for winning a tournament, the second for second place, the third for losing in the semi-finals or finishing 3rd in a league, the 4th for losing in the quarter-finals, etc.
This was based of top flight football, you can also filter by euro victories, cup wins, goals scored blah blah blah
If you do it by all club competitions it comes out like this
Liverpool
Manchester United
Arsenal
Aston Villa
Everton
Tottenham Hotspur
Newcastle United
Leeds United
Sunderland
Wolverhampton Wanderers
Chelsea
Manchester City
Nottingham Forest
Sheffield Wednesday

We can do two things either
1. Sign Li Tie
or
2. Change some players names around, Mao Flitcroft Chung anyone?
-
What about
Hughes Mighty, Blue and Whitey
or the Clockwork Orange version
The Mark Hughes Collective Idiosyncratic Individuals Dressed in Blue and White Footballing Militia
-
Just joined, see how it pans out when I get confirmation
-
Stack the midfield, deny service to the forwards, play for a nil all draw then when Hughesy gets here we can start fresh
Saying that I think we are going to get a touch up
-
Le Saux, in fact can we get him back now? He would still offer more then the handbags we currently have
-
I wonder if Derby said the same thing about Clough, Man U and Busby, Leeds and Revie
Hughes has played under the some great managers and taken a sub standard Wales squad and done very well, a little depth and they probably would've gone to Euro
I am not putting him up on the saviour podium yet but give him a chance
-
It seems no one will be happy with a left sided midfielder unless his name is Duff.
The whole team aren't cutting it, we are missing a class of player that 2 million is never gonna buy
-
I just got rid of souness from champ man and we ended up signing dino zoff, is he in the names mentioned? I hope so, Rovers finished 5th in the first season

He plays currently for Parma, he is going to be very good I think. I don't know if Italy is the best place for him. He has the right qualities for the kind of midfielder that flourishes in the English league. I think he will end up here eventually, probably at Middlesborough or Everton
