  1. I hope that you have referred him to:- Real life lesson number 1 - If you get something good you weren't expecting, don't report it and say it is a mistake. Keep your mouth shut. Reporting mistakes is for negative things.
  2. I don't know Leeds. Went to a place called Brio years ago that was nice. Sam's/Tom's Chop Houses in Manchester are good and there is a Leeds version, although I've never been. http://samsleeds.thevictorianchophousecompany.com/
  3. I haven't, but having just read a bit on Wikipedia, I'm going to be read some of his stuff asap! Thanks for the heads up, rebelmswar!
  4. If you like a bit of sci-fi/fantasy reading I've been enjoying Walter Jon Williams stuff. Some clever physics that's interesting, but not baffling. Engaging characters and a few moments where I've stopped reading to look around to think 'hell, that's clever!' I've read second 2 books of the Praxis trilogy, Implied Spaces and This is not a game.
  5. ISTR that all the people in Buck Rogers (the early 80's one) had similar style...so maybe that is what the trends will be in the future!
  6. It's a classic, but looks dated now. If you like your sci-fi, though, I think you have to have watched this.
  7. I quite like 'School of Rock' I've not liked any other films with him in, though.
  8. Maybe I've got my literal head on, but it doesn't actually say that he's not going to be paid. It says it was his wish, that the club appreciated it and that it was an examplary gesture.
  9. I went to Corbieres the other day. Not my scene either, TBH. Very studenty, from what I could see. I'm too old for it, I think.
  10. I might see if the boss fancies treating us to lunch!
  11. I used to be a regular in Francos in Ossy. Decent prices. Food was good last time I went a week or 2 ago. We had to wait over an hour for a table, though, which wasn't ideal. You know Horwich, I think, Hughesy. Have you tried Leos?
  12. I must have walked past the end of that alleya hundred times and it's only now that you've posted about it that I recall that there is a bar down there. Never thought of heading down there (maybe should have learnt my lesson re trying hidden gems after going to El Rincon De Rafa) This place is getting great reviews on-line and is only 5 mins away from where I work. I'm angling to head there after work Thursday! :-) Edit - Re China town - Can only recall ever having been in the Old Monkey (which is crap). Maybe try to Waterhouse, a Wetherspoons down the road?
  13. Podium is on the ground floor, I think. Not eaten there, though. I was disappointed with Cloud 23. The cocktails were poor and over-priced. Just got the feeling that it thinks it's better then it is. I'm afraid I've lumped Podium in with Cloud 23, probably rather unfairly given that I've not been... TBH I'm quite enjoying using Tesco clubcard rewards in Bella Italia on Deansgate, ATM!
  14. Last night I went to Piccolino's in Manchester for the first time in years. It was excellent. Nice atmosphere and great food. The risotto was superb!
  15. If Brett does that I'll assume that was him shooting! Kidding, he's got a decent back heel on him, has Brett.
  16. I've read the book, not seen the film. I thought that the characters knew what had happened, it just wasn't mentioned by them. Maybe I missed something? I also got the feeling that it was effectively a nuclear winter. No summer, ash everywhere from the blasts etc? Again, I could be putting 2 and 2 together!
  17. Not a bit stringy? Gives you wind? The chairs are really comfortable, but they have a strict seating policy? One per cushion... Don't they advertise having a world famous boiler? They let a kettle drum up business... Sorry!
  18. Thanks JC4LAB! I'll give the Bank a try. Long while since I've been to Grinch, too. Might be time for a return visit! I went to Little Yang Sing a few weeks ago. It was good. I got a bit too merry, though. Left my laptop there and missed the last train home! Thankfully, the taxi fare wasn't too bad and I managed to retrieve the laptop the next day!
  19. The corned beef hash was actually a bit crap today... So much for my 'consistently superb' comment! Last time I was there I managed to blag my way into the Four Seasons on the same day that the UN was opening for a new term, or something. It was superb! Pricey, but great! Probably best to get a reservation, mind!
  20. I'm off to Sam's Chop House today. Not sure if I've mentioned it before. Consistently superb. Corned beef hash my fave.
  21. I went to the Millstone o'er Bolton way last night. Horwich way? Nice decor, good service, rather bland food. Very good company!
