  1. Political correctness gone mad, IMO. Fair enough, he shouldnt have said what he did but they were comments made in private, accidentally broadcast. He should have been made to apologise, perhaps a fine as a rap on the knuckles, but no way should he lose his job over it. Whether he harbours old-fashioned views on the use of outdated language or not, the fact that such words have never found their way into his commentaries shows sufficient professional decorum, so why should he lose his job? More likely if he hadnt resigned ITV would have feared a backlash from blacks boycotting his commentaries & therefore less revenue which, as we know from our debates on The Premiership on this site, is really all that ITV is interested in.
  2. Be careful what you wish for, rover6, you just might get it. If Souness does end up at Spurs, who exactly are we planning to bring in who will be so much better? The likes of Cole, Friedel and Tugay joined Rovers citing Souness as a key factor in joining the club. True, Souness has shown a tactical naivety at times which makes Keegan look like RFW but you cant criticise his commitment to the club. If he went we'd have the nice & loyal but totally uncharismatic Tony Parkes to keep things ticking over until we could find someone - from Europe probably - who we could afford. If we're still losing home games to weak teams after Christmas, perhaps then we might start looking around to see who could do a better job but until then lets get behind the boss & stop being so fickle. End of last season we all loved Souness like a brother, didnt we?!
  3. Money excuses everything huh Waggy? It's like the eighties all over again!
  4. True we were second to everything tonight, a huge disappointment, but didnt anyone else suspect it was on the cards after we played them off the park at Celtic AND STILL LOST?! Its all very well being neat & tidy with passes round the park (first leg anyway) but finishing is what wins matches and the difference between the 2 sides was that they had a world class finisher called Larsson who knows how to take a chance, and we had two lazy has-been Man Ure rejects whose names no-one needs reminding of. By the way, you know you've seen an unimaginative Blackburn performance when you leave the ground and hear those immortal words: 'The Peter Jackson man of the match award goes to... Nils-Erik Johannson.' Stone the crows! I'd sooner have given it to that prat in the Rangers shirt!
  5. If you're a season ticket holder you're guaranteed your seat. Why do you need another one, or think yourself entitled for that matter?
  6. Friedel Tiny Berg Short Neill Thommo Flitty Dunn Duffer (if fit) Egil Yorke Still not sure Matty is 100% or I'd start him ahead of either of them. Same with Cole. Of course an unfit Duff would mean Tugay starting and Dunn going on the left. Think we'll draw at Parkhead and beat them at Ewood. Can't wait though - these are going to be mini-cup finals!
