  1. Neill's comments in the after-match about Rovers being a "small club" show where he is coming from and going to.....At least Sav pulled him up and said "no we are a big club now"

I'm not happy with Neill at the moment. He's really not helping anyone like him with his comments, especially after his comments in relation to his future just a few days ago. It's very disappointing that he got the captain's armband tonight. Surely someone more committed to the club, like a Tugay or a Reid, could have worn the armband.

He did have a top game tonight, though.

  2. Bloody brilliant. Fantastic feeling. Had a Chelsea supporting brother watch the game with me and it was pissing and moaning all the way. "Dirty Blackburn", "OMG the air touched him - that should be a penalty!", and "we don't have our full team in".

Tell you what, what a bunch of divers that Chelsea team have, especially Wright-Phillips. The air touches him and he falls over blike a bowling ball has hit him.

That was fully deserved. We dominated the game and we could have easily had a bigger margin. It was like that. A bigger margin would have done us justice. You can't say that against Chelsea everyday. Big deal if it was a weakened team. You can only beat what is put in front of you.

I was well chuffed for Savage when he got "his" goal, but it looks like Reid got his head to it. Ah well.

I just want to point out the performance of one Khizanishvili tonight. He was absolute immense and led the defence line well. He gets a 10 out of 10 in my book. Hughes has made a brilliant signing and Rangers have done the rarest of things by losing out in a deal to us.

Zura was the bright light in a team who all played well. Even the substitutes did their job, and Mokoena did not put a foot wrong. I think he has been hard done by this season by not getting enough matches after a disastrous opener to the season, and hopefully he is given the chance next season to be in the mix a lot more. Peter was just as good, really pushing Chelsea to the limit on the left. What a prospect that man is. He'll be making headlines in a couple of seasons.

What else is their to say? Europe here we come! It is well deserved and I have very positive feelings for the summer. I'm sure we will come out on top in the transfer dealings. The players surely recognise they are onto a good thing. I'm more than confident of Bellamy staying. he has no compelling reason to leave, really. Unless Chelsea come in for him, and then surely a Chelsea purchase would see Hughes with a bonanza that would surely be put to good use.

  3. Top jobs should be decided on CV's, not nationality or (cringe) 'passion.'

You would think so. Mark Hughes doesn't agree, though. It has to be the first time in memory where I don't agree with what he says.

"If he is the appointment that is going to be made, you have to say he ticks most of the boxes, but for my money it's another blow to British coaching," said Hughes. "A lot of the talk initially was that it would be an English or British coach, and I hoped that would be the case."

  4. yes, i picked up TST5 for Ghana (includes USA, Italy, Czech Rep, Croatia (probably), and France (probably)) and TST3 for Spain for a couple of mates.

very slow this morning though since then

a bit like our defence last night.  i can't believe that i got up at 5am to watch that!

I stayed up waiting for the match. Had a helluva tough time trying not to nod off.

I got the tickets yesterday... not for any World Cup match, but for Australia vs Greece at the MCG in May. It will be jam packed and is bound to have a terrific atmosphere.

  5. We're going to give them a 6-1 shellacking.

Birmingham City get the first goal. Sutton scores after Heskey is offside.

Savage scores his first goal to equalise.

Bellamy and Pongolle and MGP get the other five goals.

Personally, though, I wouldn't start MGP. I would rather play a "tough as nails" kind of side to match a desperate team and then finish off with flair.

    Friedel

    Neill Todd Nelsen Gray

    Reid Savage Mokoena Emerton

    Bellamy Sinama-Pongolle

    Lee, Pedersen, Khizanishvilli, Dickov, Bentley

  6. Rovers fume as Reds win

Blackburn Rovers were left in a rage after a controversial goal from French striker Djibril Cisse earned Liverpool the points at Ewood Park. Djibril Cisse, stood three yards offside, clearly went to play the ball before pulling his foot away allowing Fernando Morientes to square for Robbie Fowler to score the winner.

Having said that Wiley's decison doesn't excuse Rovers inability to get a decent shot on taget all game - we never looked like scoring.

Rubbish. I clearly remember having shots on target, and indeed, according to the following stats, we had more shots on target than Liverpool.

We were awful first half, granted, but made up for it easily in the second.

  7. How ###### up was the refereeing?

How ###### up was the commentary, for those of us who unfortunately watched it on TV?

    The whole thing was ######.

Screwed over yet again. The referees always pay offside if the offside striker doesn't touch the ball, but merely runs with it, so what is the difference this time? Nothing. He was clearly active and it should have been an offside.

    Way to ruin the game.

  8. Nelsen deserves the award someday. I thought it was a bit harsh for him to lose it last season, being what I saw as the main player who turned it all around, but then again you can't exactly give someone the award for half a season.

It's Bellamy all the way for me this season, though, even though he has missed quite a few games due to injury. He has been the difference from us being mid-table and being safe European contenders. He's also a joy to watch. There aren't that many other strikers who are as enjoyable to watch.

  9. "All of this stuff casts some light on Sullivan's 'I don't like players' speech. Yes, I can empathise with his frustrations: they'd just been beaten 7-0. The fact that I was dancing round the room laughing doesn't mean I can't understand the exasperation."

Brilliant!!! biggrin.gifbiggrin.gifbiggrin.gif He never fails to deliver. The man deserves his own TV show.

  10. Now as a smoker, I dont mind not smoking during the match, but I would like the opportunity to have a ciggie at half time.

Don't you have the opportunity to get out of Ewood Park at half-time with a passout or a swipe of your ticket? It happens down here for Australian rules games and it works a treat for smokers (smoking is banned everywhere inside a stadium).
