  1. You! my room 7.00. You! My room 8o'clock. Bring a friend
  2. V for Vendetta = Natalie Portman in School Girl outfit = fantastic film
  3. Saw Hancock the other night, much to recommend about it, I wouldnt say laugh out loud funny for most of it (bar the Whale, but thats already on the trailer), but i did find myself giggling or smiling all the way through.
  4. if you want a really cool thriller series, The Straw Men by Michael Marshal is an excellent read. The sequel, Lonely Dead isnt great, but perfectly acceptable and sets up the third book, Blood of Angels which i really enjoyed.
  5. the director said he wants to have a break and do something else, and then come back to Batman.
  6. so its exactly like french and italian films then?
  7. Gone quiet here. Saw Barry Spotter a few weeks ago and can thourghly recommend it, but first, if you haven tseen Grand Torino, go and watch it. One of the best films I've seen. I laughed all the way through it. Especially the bit with Toad in the Barber's shop
  8. I'm currently reading Harry Turtledoves Great War/ American Empire/ Settling Accounts series'. A very interesting take on 'What If' the Confederate states had won the civil war? through the first world war and the build up and finally the fighting of the second world war. To say the prose is at times clunky and repetative would be to be too kind, but even so, I've really enjoyed the books
  9. my mum always told me never to trust anyone who wore sleaveless sweaters
  10. drunk man has trouser problems. Quick, hold the front page. To quote the great Al Murray, 'You're obsessed'
  11. saw State of Play tuesday, not seen the TV show, its based on but loved the film
  12. If you want a good tactical RTS type thingy, then Men of War might be a good look. Its hard, but bloody good. Its like Soldiers of World War II but with worse voice acting.
  13. Its not a dirty harry film, although Kermode said it was as if Harry had retired to this place.
  14. Anyone seen Watchman yet? I have great hopes but fear the worst.
  15. Eric is ###### small gods is great, but like all of his books, it helps to know something about the subject matter, or a lot of jokes get missed. His greatest diskworld book is Nightwatch. Good Omens, which is not a diskworld book is well worth a look
  16. Sliding Doors is an excellent film. My I recommend 'Following' by Christopher Nolan (he of Batman, Dark Knight and Insomnia)
  17. more people die horse riding per year, than do taking Ectasy. Horse riding can lead to death, paralasis, broken bones, head injuries and being trampled on. Ectasy can lead to alergic reactions, death by exhaustion, death caused by an unknown heart complaint, being hugged to death and talking like a tit, the latter something that I've found the horse riding fraternity do to a degree as well Its not hard to understand - Empirically, Ectasy is less dangerous than horse riding. Plus its cheaper.
  18. which is fine as long as they arent shy about it. The last Transformers was fine because they tried to make it realistic as possible considering the subject matter.
  19. yes to fatherland, i was assuming most people had read it but enigma is a much better book i thought
