Two excellent posts LD and Scotty, absolutely spot on.Souness says he's happy with a point at home against newly promoted(tipped for relegation) West brom.
I cant find anything positive to say about that way of thinking.
JHC.

2-1 Rovers....a false god has been erected again in the corner of my room.
What a pitiful record of achievement Southampton have since their formation compared to the mighty blue 'n' whites.
-
Dont forget Souness's old friend 'lady luck' too chris, wonder how many times she'll give us a loving embrace this season!
Same old,same old.
-
I'm afraid one thing IS for sure Eddie chap and that is that Rovers fans WILL NOT tolerate another season of sh1te like the one just gone.
That feeling already seems to come across quite clear and strong to me and many others...lets hope Souness gets the message early too.
Simple as.
-
Looks as though a long hard season awaits us...........again.
Souness "Survival is the key"
Although staying in the Prem IS no1 priority, like you Paul my first reactions when seeing the headline in the LET was 'oh no not again...same old ,same old.'
The wording of his comment does not fill your average Rovers fan with optimism does it
-
Agree, Kanu's control of the ball was superb I thought, on more than a few occasions 2 or more Rovers players failed to take the ball from him in the tackle!
-
Expected more to be honest but what the hell, its only early doors.Have a feeling that will be the last of the 'diamond formation' by Mr Souness as it cleary does not work with the players we have, many appeared to not know what position to play!.Fair do's to Dickov who hussled and bussled and looked very lively....still big worries about the attack, I stand by my comments that we need to adequately replace Cole.Play like we did in the first half today against better opposition and the game will be over at half time for Rovers.
Overall summary: CAN AND MUST DO BETTER.
P.S.
Looking through the programme I was surprised to see that a larger crowd was on Ewood for the game against WBA in Div 1 back in 2001 !!!!!

THE TENSION IS NOW BUILDING.............
COME ON YOU BLUES!!!!!
-
Stop looking at the past and see him as he is today.
Very sadly Al that is the crux of the problem....... the past and present just dont compare anymore
-
He simply isn't getting enough chances in the first team to make an impression but then again I've heard NOTHING via the club to convice me he can make the grade ever again. He either makes that breakthrough this season or its goodbye IMHO.
So sad for a player who once promised so much .........
-
Scrappy game but 2-1 Rovers!
24,500

Front and back page of LET,flyers, radio advertisement..dont think the club can do any more to be honest Hughesy.
Non-white season ticket holders are in a very small minority I would have said AND THAT IS NO FAULT OF BLACKBURN ROVERS......the Asian community will simply not support in large numbers.
Roverite, get on the blower to rovers mate, mine arrived at least 3 weeks ago and 2 instalments have already been paid for.
-
Whilst season ticket sales are poor, if we can maintain average home support of say 20,000 be they season ticket holders or those that pay on the day, it will be a good ongoing achievement.
I was looking in the Mike Jackman book the other day with regard to the early 60's. The 1963/64 season was a good one with Rovers finishing 7th in the top flight. The attendances left a lot to be desired. Some were good, Liverpool 35k, Man Utd 37k, Everton 35k, Stoke 30k, Burnley 27k. However there was an almighty drop to other home games, Ipswich 10k, West Brom 12k, Fulham 13k, Birmingham 14k and so on.
The following season 64/65 was even worse, with the last home gate being 9k and even the Burnley Derby attracting only 15k.
All this a far cry from promotion a few years earlier and the first season back in the First Division when we averaged 30k and had many gates in the 30/40k bracket.
It can be seen that once the novelty of being back in the Top Flight wore off, many folk only turned out for the big games, although the 1960 Cup Final tickets fiasco won't have helped. Today's fans at least turn out week in, week out (more or less) so 20k home supporters irrespective of whether they're season ticket holders or not, is pretty darned good in my book.
Good shout CLB!.
Although some of us(yes,me included ) wish we could pull more through the gates it has to be said that the last 13 years have seen some of the most consistent, stable and 'loyal' support at Ewood park in the clubs entire history..here's to that continuing!
-
I'm glad to say thats not as bad as I thought it could've been at one stage..looks like the Premiership years are paying dividends now in term's of an increased 'hardcore' fanbase...keep the faith!!
-
Any updates on numbers sold yet?........
-
''What I will say is that for all this pessimism we are unbeaten and we've hardly conceded and goals. What more does anyone want? Eh????'
We have some tough opening fixtures,we'll very soon see if this team can cut the mustard Bob and make no mistake, with the signings we have made NOBODY really knows at this stage.....................
-
Agree entirely Den, worring situation that needs to be resolved by the Ewood money men sooner rather than later. Its only one friendly game but what I saw today did nothing to convince me we are strong enough in attack.
-
The 6,000 stand was not full but it was also definitely not 2/3 empty mate!!
.....Give me Ewood park anyday, there is a massive difference in quality in the stands both in terms of brick and mortar and also the folk sat in them!!
-
Mmmmmmmm..we huffed and puffed on a very hot day and the Preston players looked fitter as you would possibly expect.Couldn't really take much from the game but IMHO there are massive question marks over Dickov,Reid and our 'friend' Mr Yorke....We got the win but the performance was well below par.
Good and vociferous following of between 3-4,000 Rovers fans at a guess.
P.S. Did anyone else manage to find the memorabilia belonging to Bob Crompton in the museum?.... or was I just too hung over from last night
-
Good grief!....just try the main carparks opposite the main stand and across from Tom Finney way if you dont want to circum navigate Blackpool!!!
-
for me i would choose my number one cult hero as howard gayle. i couldn't care less why he is banned from ewood park.
Pray tell us more Blueboy! .......................................

rovers received a second allocation of tickets this morning from the nobenders having sold nearly of their first allocation. At 0930 today there were only 130 tickets left !
Looks like a half decent turn out for the away game and pne are letting supporters pay on the day as well.
Thats more like it Rovers fans!we can re-live our promotion game as we look upon the Pavilion terrace with a tearfull eye.
P.S. Make sure to vist the football museum before the game
***LATEST***
Lee has just confirmed on the official site that all the initial 1,000 allocation have been sold and it's now pay on the gate....what a waste of time selling tickets!!

Good advise to be honest,Like Burnley fans many appear to have a rather large chip on their shoulder when it comes to matters Rovers..be sensible is the best advise especially after about 50+ Rovers 'fans' decided to lay waste to a few pubs in Preston on their way back from Bolton a few seasons ago!

Whats so unbelievable about my post Mr Birch?
I comment on matters as I see them in the cold light of day as do many other board members who dont have their head up their arse and are not ignorant of the situation. After Saturdays performance we look to have started were we left off last season
Everybody is entitled to their views and opinion Dave but 'unbelievable'
is not a word I'd use to sum up the present situation, far from it...its quite believable that we are in for a struggle again.
NOBODY is saying sack Souness yet and that would be sheer stupidity but it appears that major team issues and concerns have not been properly addressed close season....I personally find that so disappointing along with the lack of activity in the transfer market to strengthen the side
