  1. Maybe not Pleasure but Neill has now proved that he can do a more than passable job right along the back 4. Which is not an inconsiderable benefit to a team with a small squad like ours. We need to keep him imo.

i agree with you, but we're not exactly struggling for cover at CB. the same cant be said for the RB position though.

i'd be astonished if neill plays as a CB at pompey.

    EDIT!!!! injuries permitting.

  2. Sounds like we have been very lucky pre-season. Both Todd and Savage have walked a stupid tightrope by all accounts.

We'd better get signing recruits quick to cover for the inevitable suspensions.

If we come bottom of the Fair Play list three years running, I think we run the risk of starting next season with a points deduction don't we?

town teams arent wanted in the premiership, i reckon we'd just get relegated. :D

i noticed a heated scuffle, but didnt see todd poke anyone between the eyes (that said i didnt notice ped was wearing number 12 :D ).

in my opinion, todd and nelson are our best pairing. i may be alone, but i dont see lucas neill as being the greatest centre half the world has ever seen. then again i'm not australian. ;)

  3. To be honest, everyone was just OK in my opinion, the opposition was such low quality that Rovers won at little more than a stroll.

i agree with your comments on NZ and we mustnt get carried away by pre-season performances. (emerton looked a world beater in his first pre-season).

a few comments on the game:-

i think we'd be more solid with lucas at RB.

reidy's passing and crossing were abysmal. he wouldnt of looked out of place in the NZ side.

benni was impressive. his movement was excellent. he's a lot cleverer technically than i had realised.

roberts also put in a good shift and linked up well with benni.

both players can hold the ball up and also look a threat when the ball is played over the top.

overall, the signs are encouraging and i'm optamistic for the season ahead. i hope it lasts.

  4. Exactly pleasure - and things like this will only make it worse - the seed was sown a few seasons back and was obvious to see - however the club carried on with the trend and now its biting us big time. I just hope your thinking on prices comes true.

As for Everton - at one time I would tend to agree but not now.

    i've had a bit of a re-think, capt.

i remember, we had decent crowds in 97/98 (in hodgson's 1st season) and we got 15,000 for the psv friendly.

crowds have been dwindling since 98/99.

  5. and when the price rises to £45 in the BBE?

    It's got to stop somewhere.

hypothtical. for the record i think prices will drop in the next few years.

my gripe is, as i've mentioned previously, some people use pricing as an excuse.

going back to everton, i take it JW upper central is #39.00 and cheaper around the rest of the ground ? the simple solution is to sit somewhere else. the JW upper central is hardly ever full anyway!

Not quite as it would appear that there won't be 5k toffees preparing to come now if there discussions are anything to go by - so sort of defeats the object.

Jan - Even £27 is too much in my book

Think people are missing the point here - it has to stop, how high do prices have to go?

Capt, i'll bet everton will bring 5000, we'll see on the night.

i can see where you're coming from, (in reference to ticket prices), but i cant see decrease in price leading to an increase rovers fans attending ewood.

    we've never had great crowds.

  6. That's a contradiction. Football in general may have been sold out to money, but Rovers hasn't. All those who wanted to could have got this game, and all games (in fact more as the first UEFA cup game is included) for last year's prices. If they haven't, more fool them. Everton is the price it is because they can sell away tickets, end of. Sensible strategy if you ask me as we wouldn't have got many walk-on fans anyway. Everyone else can wibble as much as they want, but 5000 at £36 from Everton more than makes up for the 3-400 extra we MIGHT have got at £26. And yet again people whine about the price in their favourite area. It's the law of supply and demand. Of course the most popular areas are going to be expensive. You can get an adult ticket for £27 elsewhere. So move.

go points, well made. there's really nothing more rovers can do.

  7. i agree wholeheartedly, brian.

the long and the short of it, is that the vast majority of blackburn public dont care about rovers (enough).

i dont agree with the spiralling ticket prices, and genuinely sympathise with the loyal fans who are who are being priced out but it's easy for people to use that as an excuse

(whilst they're down the pub watching rovers, on al jezeera, and probably spending more).

VERY briefly touched upon but glossed over because the drummer is on it. I don't think theres been a Fans Forum this year, so the chances are that the clubs lost interest in it.

ban the drummer from the FF aswell then. :D

seriously though, the topic came up, but wasnt discussed properly as the drummer was present

    opportunity missed -i'd say.
