I'd read that the low allocation was in retaliation to Blackpool giving them a similar amount earlier this season when only a few weeks before we were given around three thousand. We gave Nobbers the full DE allocation.

    That's correct arbitro.

I'd have given them 10%, same as what we got, no arguments. Means they get more fans yes, but nothing daft like 7,000 of them. Shouldn't be punished for having a bigger stadium and therefore being forced to give a huge away following, especially in such a big game. A few extra quid doesn't make sense.

Can see why it's limited - no idea if police involved. Just hope it doesn't lead to a Rangers/Celtic style tit-for-tat over allocation with each constantly getting lower allocations each game.

I'm glad we haven't rolled out the red carpet, that's for sure.

    Almost certainly.

Couldn't they have just bought a Reading ticket for a tenner to get themselves on the database?

No. The database was closed some time in mid February. The date was given at the Fans Forum last week but I didn't minute it - I think it was 19th but don't quote me.

  4. It would be easy for me to say The Full members Cup Final, winning the Premier League at Anfield and the League Cup in Cardiff but I'll add both the Play-off Final and particularly the first leg of the semi-final at Ewood when Rovers came from 2-0 behind to win 4-2. The latter is still the only game I have ever been to when the singing continued right through the half-time break.

  5. The police were particularly concerned about the game at Ewood when I went to a prep meeting for the Turf Moor game. With no bubble the opportunity for confrontation between fans is much greater at Ewood and would be exacerbated should 7,000 Burnley fans be allowed.

The only way Burnley fans are going to be in home areas is if Rovers fans on the database buy them for them or if they got themselves on the database a month ago.

The Police concerns have non doubt been made worse now that the game is on a midweek night rather than a Sunday lunchtime.

  6. I have been approached by the wife of a Rovers fan who sadly died from dementia a few years ago. She has his collection of programmes that she wants to get rid of and hopes they can be found a good home rather than being thrown away.

They are not especially old - some date from 1992 but most are from 2001-2006.

I also have a lot off programmes myself which my wife would also like to get out of the house and in truth I'm quite happy to let go (I'll be keeping a few though!).

If anyone wants them or knows of a good home please pm me.

Separately I asked the club first to see if they knew of a good home and I got this from Nick Cooney at the Community Trust: -

We are looking out for pre 1950s programmes, plus any original items, kit etc to form part of our future museum, if you do hear of anything or descendants of ex players, that would be great.

So once again pm me if you can help.

You wanna try getting in at the Parkers Arms, John. Thought I’d have a birthday meal there (May), in January, it was fully booked!

Maybe it's got harder recently Kenny. We last went around Christmas and got in at a few days notice.

  8. I'd forgotten about this thread.

It was great to see 3 Lancashire pubs in the Top 50 gastropubs list this year. Parkers Arms at number 1, Freemasons at 3 and the White Swan at 7.

The Parkers Arms is a great quirky experience but for me the White Swan is the pick of them. Never had anything other than a superb meal there at not stupid prices.

Another ticket deal for Norwich - £20.

If there's something riding on the Luton game (which looks increasingly likely) I'd like to see a Darwen End deal to get home fans behind both goals.

They've done it before with mixed results, but with the way things are going it can only add to an increasingly improved atmosphere, but on all 4 sides with away fans shoved upstairs to lessen their impact.

Is this something you could raise @only2garnersor would tickets already be on sale by the time you had your next meeting?

We will be in the play-offs (or not) by the time of the next meeting on 16/5.

I think the club will be offering more price incentives if the last games are important though.

Not a negative. the crowd will be c15k, which is obviously better than a standard midweek and can only help the atmosphere.

I suspect 15K is too optimistic. As of Monday night less than 12K had been sold, including about 150 from Reading. It seems a tall order for us to shift more than 3,000 in two days. Particularly given the weather forecast of heavy rain from tea time.

  11. I have finished the minutes and they should be out on the website on Thursday. In answer to the posts above (which I did not see before the meeting but no matter as we had it covered), Gregg Broughton came as planned and we had a long discussion about the transfer window and plenty more about his role.

I will answer on one point above though - should we get to the FA Cup semi final there will be merchandise to buy, albeit obviously not replica shirts.

Surely they did have the request in last week to be able to have them at the ticket office today to sell?

Or did they send them anyway in case we did ask the question. Either way I'm sure the club knew by last week that they'd have the extra allocation to sell but just didn't publicise it.

Rovers asked for the extra 1,000 tickets this morning. They were printed in Sheffield and brought over. They arrived at 2.05, on sale at 2.30 and sold out by 4.30.

There is an outside chance of a few more tickets being made available.

Yes i was surprised at that but think i read somewhere a while back they have quite a few in other championship teams or similar who came through there.

There can't be anyone with more home produced lads in their first team squad with mins on the pitch in that list than us ?

Dominic Hyam is one of them.

@only2garnersposted the other day that he will ask the question at tonight's Fans Forum so hopefully we'll have an answer one way or another by tonight.

As has already been said though, the club should have been on this already & an announcement made whether we can have the extra's or not. Or at the very least say they are waiting to hear back!

We have already put the question to the club, so should have a response tonight.
