  1. Haven't seen any of the goals - but I know neither Hilton or Eastham are good enough, which is why I was sweating buckets before Wahlstedt signed.
  2. It'll be Hedges wide right, Gilsenan wide left. I'd assume Buckley playing as the #10, but who knows maybe they'll want Garrett leading the press from there?
  3. We have Brittain sat on the bench too and he cost similar. He'll beat Pears out soon enough - it won't take long to establish himself as the better GK.
  4. We're watching a different game. They're the perfect Championship team - big, physical and organised. They've hardly bossed the game - we've had by far the better chances.
  5. They played over 14 minutes - if it's 30 seconds per sub then that's about right.
  6. Ipswich's #9 is a baaaaad player.
  7. 13 minutes. Like VAR it's a new rule that has been HORRIBLY applied.
  8. Mowbray having a tantrum on the sideline - things you love to see.
  9. Ipswich's #10 is having a field day.
  10. Good pass, good run, horrible finish (he just lashed it - but he was so close the pace took it past the keeper).
  11. It's your typical soft-touch Mowbray team. They're always going to give teams chances.
  12. Evidently they've got money to burn, so we'll see what their squad looks like come September.
  13. There's an international break coming up - he'll be saving himself for that. Sunderland look devoid of ideas without Diallo.
  14. I thought he was ok yesterday, besides an excellent finish for his goal. If we keep him (I'm sure they'll entertain offers) I think he has to play as a #10 behind Szmodics. I think that would hide his flaws (size / lack of pace) and accentuate his strengths (ball control / finishing).
  15. Extended highlights (everyone seems to do this better than us, I can only assume we've got a skeleton media / comms crew). Three absolute bollocks appeals for penalties imo - desperate:
  16. It's almost like he lost concentration after that backheel to Dolan (I think?) for the chance Leonard put wide. He played some sloppy passes after that and got caught in possession - got too full of himself, perhaps? There's an absolute world beater of a player in there, he just needs to smooth out the rough edges - he played two passes in the first five minutes he was on the pitch that nobody else in that match could see or pull off.
  17. After several injustices last year based on the lack of VAR I wholeheartedly agree.
  18. We're absolutely desperate for an out ball though - whether that's size at CF or pace at L/RW. There were times where Carter (especially) had all day on the ball to play a pass to the forward line, but he daren't risk it. I hate to mention them, but Harwood-Bellis to Tella was a big staple for Burnley last year - it really upsets teams when you can both play it out from the back and ping it over the top.
  19. Broughton absolutely isn't the problem here...
  20. The WBA fans are crying about 3 missed penalty decisions - which I think just highlights how good we were. Begging the (very poor) referee for penalties 'cos you're not creating anything else.
  21. Neat and tidy. Brought a tenacity to midfield that we missed last year. Tired before he was brought off - assume he's not quite match fit yet.
  22. Someone threw an orange object (I assume a lighter) at Phillips whilst he was taking a corner.
  23. If Leonard continues to play like that, Ennis is half decent and Sigurdsson is what we think we is I'd invest everything in a quality RW.
  24. Leonard was the clear man of the match - he gave their two CBs a torrid time. Delighted he got the goal and disappointed he missed that gilt edged chance - hopefully that composure (he almost had too long to think about it) comes with time. Hedges is a good Championship backup - good first touch, brings others into the game and a good athlete. Dolan is simply too slow for his style of play out wide - so is Markanday. Both would look better playing as a #10 (Markanday evidently has a great finish on him, so he'd probably be your choice of the two playing centrally). Carter was the better of our two CBs today I thought - if Phillips is worth £2m, I'd want £10m for Carter.
  25. My concern with Leonard has always been the physical side of things - he put that to bed today. He won't be matched up against two bigger, more athletic and physical CBs than the two WBA lined up with today and he ran them ragged - did anyone notice the frustrated kick one of them gave him at full time? An outstanding performance - to the point where you wonder if he'd been given a chance in January last year whether we'd be starting our season next Saturday instead...
