  1. (From the video, not a regular watcher of him) Turns fantastically well, which could be useful for starting counter attacks. Good close control, first touch and a bit of flair. Guessing he has an inconsistent side, or would probably be beyond our reach. Meant to have cost them around 3.5 million from Liverpool.
  2. Nah nah, that's how you get our goalkeeper booked.
  3. That's not individual fans being fickle though unless the same fan does the same thing. It's just the people who rate him praising him whilst he's doing well, and the people who don't staying quiet. Then they pipe up when he wants out.
  4. Disagree, if we are selling for 6 million I'd rather pay for a proven replacement and use the loans for the areas we already needed to fill, unless there's enough money left to buy there too. We want players who will feel incentivised to get promotion, and that's more likely from ones we own. We are also in a unique position to get better permanent players than we will be if we don't make promotion. But we do have loan spots yes. The limit on loanees is 5 in the matchday squad. We can have far more in total. So Poveda basically doesn't count. We currently have Khadra, Zeefuik and Van Hecke, so really we have 2 loanee spots available with the capacity to field all of them on matchday. Poveda might become available near the end of the season, but if there are 5 loanees ahead of him at that point it's Leeds' problem.
  5. You don't pay the player's remaining wages though when they leave without a transfer request. You pay their 'loyalty bonus' out (or what's left of it if it's the type that gets paid gradually the longer you are 'loyal'). But you're right it's more cowardly/greedy still to do it that way. I'd insist he puts a formal request in. He will do it if he wants out that badly.
  6. Even with Premiership money on hand, it seems very odd for them to want to pay 6 million for him. He will be free in 6 months (plus will have shown whether he can stay consistent by then). It's not like they're really in the relegation fight or challenging for Europe, so it seems a bit wasteful from a cleverly ran club. I suppose if we went up there's a chance he wouldn't be available for free, but if we don't, well his agent clearly isn't letting him sign our offer if so much more is on the table.
  7. Sorry but how does that help us? He's already here, and plays in a different position to Joe, so doesn't help us short term, plus he will be going back at the end of the season so doesn't help us long term. If Rothwell leaves he absolutely must be replaced.
  8. We aren't realistically going to finish above them. But I still can't help but check their scores...
  9. An acceptable result with so many important players unavailable. Just a pity about most of the other results.
  10. I'm certain he would struggle physically against 16 yr old man-mountain Ash Phillips...
  11. I was just joking around on the basis that Gally is crap at trapping it.
  12. Tbf if we concede it won't be because we have an extra defender up top.
  13. This tight pitch and the lack of Khadra's pace is a problem for our style.
  14. Someone on here said they can't keep winning every game with a late goal...guess he was right.
  15. We aren't looking that hard to break down if you ask me.
  16. Know what else happened when play resumed? We scored the winning goal. Thought warm ups were an odd choice by Boro. If you're not warm at what, 60 odd minutes into the game? Something is wrong.
  17. I did read it, thanks for your concern.
  18. He's very good. However I'm clearly no longer in the same universe I was in last season if people genuinely think he is better, let alone much better, than the lad who got one of the highest assists totals in the league last season. I've no idea why him and Reed were used as examples of poor loans in the post I quoted, rather than say Walton and Douglas, but it only reinforces my new alternate reality theory...
  19. Where the team finished is irrelevant to how good the player has been for us. Plenty of our best current players were here when we finished 15th. Edun wasn't here, he isn't better than Elliott either. Brad Friedel was world class and we finished 6th or lower with him every season. Van Hecke wouldn't cost a quarter of what Elliott would cost. There's a reason for that - he's a good player, but nowhere near as good as Elliott. Our failings last season were due to repeated tactical errors by the manager, not because the squad was significantly worse.
  20. In what universe is he looking 'much better than Elliott'?
  21. That's more interest than our club has shown in him this season.
  22. It sounds like you should listen to them more often...which creates quite the paradox.
