  1. I think you will find he was misquoted as saying those things

Does it really matter? I mean do you really think that Chelsea would buy a 30 something year old striker for millions and millions and millions to retain the premiership if they didnt think he could score goals. Or are they just going to play him for 6ish months until he finds his feet. Meanwhile they could be scoring goals but instead drop points because somebody is "getting used to English football"??

I dont see how Nonda is any different. If there not scoring goals they shouldnt be playing and somebody who can or wants too should...

  2. Im suprised no one on the board is championing the return of Kuqi!

Its got its on topic page dude.

I would love our frontline from last season back inplace of the lumps we got in our team at the moment to be honest...

Benni keeps finding himself offside and Nonda still looks like he's looking for that preverbial needle in a haystack... although agreed, our midfield isnt exactly helping matters...!

  3. Yeah your right.

Shevchenko go home. You are a waster.

Your the 2nd highest champions league goal scorer of all time but you aren't good enough for the Prem.

Any player needs time to adapt to the English game, some longer than others.

The same Shevchenko who has had the following artical written about him: Shevchenko has not managed to find his best form since joining Chelsea in the summer and was quoted as saying earlier this week that he would be prepared to return to Italy if things did not work out.

At least he has the balls to admit things arent going his way!!

You havent even seen Nonda play armchair boy, just going along with the reviews your read on teletext as usual

Oh right to you read im disabled so thought it would be both big of you and clever to call me armchair boy!?

Sorry to disapoint you but i have actually seen him play several times on tv and he was disappointing all those times i saw him!

  4. by the sounds of it, they should be both back playing in january and it's going to seem like 2 brand new signings of top quality.

nelsen will get the arm band back and work on his partnership with ooijer which could be awsome and reidy will add some much needed steel and pace to our midfield which we are desperate for.

i just hpe the return of these players wont effect the boards decision to let hughes bring in some more quality in the transfer window.

Were going to need someone to cover if these players get injured again anyway arent we. I mean look whats happening at the moment without them. Think its a pretty good lesson of what will happen if there injuries flare up again!

  5. Just a quick update on current games...

I recomend anyone who is getting bored of there game create a team in your home town and then create your mates as players.

I just created Worthing United. Im upfront and my mate Daz is in goal. lol.

No we havent put our stats rediculously high, they have started out as average and developed.

Anywho got a lush stadium with hills behind it, like the sussex downs and started off in the 2nd division.

Won the LDV Vans Trophy and got promoted to the 1st division... Lost the first game 1 nil but sure things will pick up! :P

    GREAT FUN!! :brfc:

Anybody know how to get the new Ukraine left back out of the Internations and into the Rovers squad on Fifa 07 on the PS2... I found him in the international selections but Kiev arent in career mode... Any ideas???

  6. Ah! but were you up to the same kind of malpractice as Abbs when you did it?

How about me... I said i was at a rovers match when i was infact 300+ miles away because i wanted people to allow me to have an opinion on a match without giving that excuse. You had to have been there to have an opinion...!:lol:

And before anyone mentions it, i did admit to it a while back!

  7. The first team that I really saw play regularly the ,team of the early sixties had-

    Fred Else ,born in Wigan.

    John Bray, - Great Harwood.

    Keith Newton - Manchester.

    Ronnie Clayton - Preston.

    Matt Woods - Liverpool.

    Mike England - Wales

    Mike Ferguson - Burnley.

    Andy Mc Evoy - Eire

    Fred Pickering - Blackburn.

    Bryan Douglas - Blackburn.

    Mike Harrison - Ilford.

That was it , 8 Lancastrians, a Welshman and a lad from Eire plus 1 Southern Softie. We could have easily fielded Byrom and Ratcliffe for Mc EVoy and Harrison and had an all Lancashire forward line , with 4 of them from Blackburn itself. Where have all our local talented players gone ?

    Yesterdays squad vs Newcastle:

Brad Friedel - Lakewood, Ohio, USA

    Lucas Neill - Sydney, Australia

    Andre Ooijer - Holland

    Stephane Henchoz - Billens, Switzerland

    Michael Gray - Sunderland, England

    David Bentley - Peterborough, England

    Robbie Savage - Wrexham, Wales

    Kerimoglu Tugay - Istanbul, Turkey

    Morten Gamst Pedersen - Norway

Shabani Nonda - Democratic Republic of Congo

Benni McCarthy - Capetown, South Africa

    Subs:

    Jason Brown - Southwark, Wales

    Andy Todd - Derby, England

Aaron Mokoena - Johannesburg, South Africa

    Sergio Peter - Germany

    Matt Derbyshire - Blackburn, England

I do think our main problem is we havent got a right mix of, youth in our squad. We dont really have much pace. Our 2 central midfielders although are good going forward are more naturally defensive minded.

Our 2 players upfront ie. Nonda and Benni both play exactly the same style of football which isnt good.

  8. During yesterday's game my mind wandered back to the days when virtually every Football League team was made up of "home" players, English, Scottish, Welsh, Irish (apologies to our Irish friends, you know what I mean). A side with a foreign player was, as I recall it, unusual and noteworthy. I don't remember these sides as being poor or full of under-achievers, so where are they today? Have years of importing foreign players destroyed the opportunity for home talent, where they never that good and now find themselves in the lower leagues because the game has moved on dramatically?

I have been saying this for ages dude!

Look at Reading then, high flying... the vast majority of there squad is from Great Britain or Ireland... Doyle and Long who id love at rovers any day!

  9. Have any Blackburn fans heard any rumours regarding Hughes being linked with Liverpool if Benitez doesn't win any trophies this season?. This rumour seems to be rife amongst the kop who are not in favour of the idea, myself personally would love Sparky to be the LUFC manager. Im not a major fan of the rotation system in which Rafa holds so much confidence in suceeding with it although results do seem to be picking up at the moment. Another thing is im not to keen on the idea of Lucas Neil's imminent arrival at Anfield, I dnt rate him as one of the best right backs in europe and can't see why Liverpool, Barcelona Chelsea etc are being linked with him!, although it now seems that he won't cost very much at all. Glad to see Rovers beat Fulham at the weekend by the way i dont't mind Blackburn at all i think they show a lot of fighting spirit and passion unlike some teams!

I didnt even wanna justify this message with a reply... But hey seeing as its causing so much of a fuss!

Sparky recently signed a new long term contract, so i doubt he will be leaving till Fergy retires and thats not going to be after 2010 give or take...

    End of debate... :rover:

  10. Anyone think the reason why Gally isnt even getting any time as a sub is probably the same reason as Todd? hes said something to hughes, that hughes didnt like.. hence Hughes reluctancy to even give Gally the odd run out.

He deserves a chance, and i dont think Sparky is that petty, do you?

If Gally and Todd have upset Sparky then does that go for Derbyshire and Peter who also got barely any effective time on the pitch yesterday...?

  11. I was referring to the round of 32. You are right that the CL clubs got wiped out in later rounds but in the 2nd place v CL exiled games in the round of 32, only Levski prevailed against Artmedia.

Anyway, Nancy's game has been abandonned. No doubt Feyernoord will be entertaining Krakow in an empty stadium on 13 December but the 3-0 scoreline will be allowed to stand from tonight.

Damn! If it was the Nancy fans caussing the problems they should fine Nancy 3 points. lol

  12. He's come here on a 4 year contract, agreed and presumably signed by both BRFC and himself, honoured it until now and appears prepared to see it out fully and then he want to move on. He has to the best of my knowledge not thrown any sulks or tantrums to get himself released any earlier so...... Just what is the problem?

I think the point that 1864roverite is trying to make is Neill made it known to the media that he wanted to move on as aposed to talking to his fans about it. E.g. on rovers webside...

I agree though, he has honoured his contract, but the last year of the 4 were ruined because of all the hype about him leaving...

  13. Yes major satisfaction in a player not performing to their potential and taking up a valuable place in the team, when other fringe players could get a chance to prove themselves.

If you think Im knocking Pedersen you should take a look at other teams forums. The current Arsenal forum have got Henry down as past it and needs stripping of the captaincy!

    http://www.arsenal-mania.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=2

I think us Rovers fans are VERY patient with some of the players underperforming, if Morten was at spurs or newcastle the fans would be on his back after one poor game.

I think the weakest link is Benni and Nonda atm... it has to be said...

  14. I dont understand why everyone is attacking Pederson either, he's only halfway through his career, has plenty to learn and play. Also considering he has only had 2 - 3 years in top flight, i think he has done pretty damn well!

If your going to have a go, pick out some of our more experienced players who have been in top flight and are meant to be reaching the peak of there careers, Gray (excluding his last match) and Benni so far this season for example... Also Roberts before he got his injury has been poor.

Its now clear that Nonda shouldnt be given a perminant move here and we need a new YOUNG striker...

I would like to see Beckham at Rovers though, who better to teach Bentley and Gamst how to be one of the best midfielders in the league then Beckham... We can always hope!!
